Galater 1
1 Paulus, Apostel nicht von Menschen noch durch Menschen, vielmehr durch Jesus Christus und durch Gott den Vater, der ihn von den Toten auferweckt hat,
Paul, an apostle, not from men, nor through man, but through Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead, —
2 und alle Brüder, die bei mir sind, an die Gemeinden in Galatien.
and all the brethren that are with me, to the churches of Galatia:
3 Gnade werde euch zuteil und Friede von Gott, unserem Vater, und von dem Herrn Jesus Christus,
Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
4 der sich selbst für unsere Sünden hingegeben hat, um uns aus dieser bösen Welt -zeit zu retten. So ist auch der Wille unseres Gottes und Vaters, (aiōn g165)
who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from the present evil world, according to the will of God our Father; (aiōn g165)
to whom be the glory for ever and ever! Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 Ich wundere mich, daß ihr so schnell euch abwendig machen laßt von dem, der euch in der Gnade Christi berufen hat, zu einem anderen Evangelium.
I marvel that ye are so soon turning from him that called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel;
7 Es gibt doch kein anderes. Allein, manche wollen euch verwirren und das Evangelium Christi verfälschen.
which is not another; only there are certain persons who are troubling you, and seeking to change entirely the gospel of Christ.
8 Doch wenn wir selbst oder sogar ein Engel vom Himmel das Evangelium euch anders verkündeten, als wir es euch verkündet haben, der sei verflucht!
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel to you contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed!
9 Ich wiederhole, was ich eben sagte: Wer euch das Evangelium anders predigt, als ihr es empfangen habt, der sei verflucht!
As we have said before, so I now say again, If any one preach a gospel to you contrary to that which ye received, let him be accursed!
10 Rede ich jetzt Menschen oder Gott zulieb? Suche ich etwa Menschen zu gefallen? Wenn ich noch Menschen zu gefallen suchte, dann wäre ich nicht Christi Knecht.
For do I now seek the favor of men, or of God? Or am I endeavoring to please men? If I were still pleasing men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11 Liebe Brüder, ich versichere euch: Das Evangelium, das ich verkünde, ist nicht Menschenwerk.
But I assure you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not after man;
12 Denn nicht von einem Menschen habe ich es übernommen, auch nicht durch Unterricht gelernt, sondern durch Offenbarung Jesu Christi.
for I did not receive it from man nor was I taught it by any man, but it was revealed to me by Jesus Christ.
13 Ihr habt von meinem früheren Wandel im Judentum gehört, wie ich die Gemeinde Gottes über die Maßen verfolgte und sie zugrunde zu richten suchte.
For ye have heard of my conduct formerly in Judaism; that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and was destroying it,
14 Ich zeichnete mich an jüdischer Gesinnungstüchtigkeit vor vielen meiner Altersgenossen in meinem Volke aus und eiferte ganz übertrieben für die väterlichen Überlieferungen.
and made progress in Judaism beyond many of the same age with me in my nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
15 Doch da gefiel es dem, der mich vom Mutterschoß an ausersehen und mich kraft seiner Gnade berufen hat,
But when it pleased him who set me apart from my very birth, and called me through his grace,
16 in mir seinen Sohn zu offenbaren, damit ich ihn der Heidenwelt verkünde. Von Anfang an zog ich nicht Fleisch und Blut zu Rate,
to reveal his Son within me, that I might publish the glad tidings of him among the gentiles, immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood,
17 noch ging ich nach Jerusalem hinauf zu denen, die vor mir Apostel waren; nein, ich ging fort nach Arabien und kam dann wieder nach Damaskus.
neither did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.
18 Erst dann, drei Jahre später, ging ich nach Jerusalem, um dort Kephas persönlich kennenzulernen. Ich hielt mich vierzehn Tage bei ihm auf.
Then, after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to become acquainted with Cephas, and stayed with him fifteen days;
19 Sonst sah ich keinen der anderen Apostel, den Jakobus, den Bruder des Herrn, ausgenommen.
but no other of the apostles did I see, save James the brother of the Lord.
20 Was ich da schreibe - ich bezeuge es vor Gott -, ist keine Lüge.
Now as to what I am writing to you, behold, before God, I do not lie.
21 Darauf kam ich in die Gegenden von Syrien und Cilizien.
Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
22 Den Christengemeinden in Judäa blieb ich also persönlich unbekannt.
and I was unknown by face to the churches of Judaea which were in Christ;
23 Sie hatten nur gehört: Der einstens uns verfolgt hat, verkündet jetzt den Glauben, den er vorher zu vernichten suchte.
but they were only hearing that “He who was once our persecutor is now preaching the faith which he was once destroying”;
24 Und sie priesen Gott um meinetwillen.
and they glorified God in me.
