Esra 7
1 Hernach zog unter der Regierung des Perserkönigs Artachsast der Sohn Serajas herauf, Esdras (Ezra), der Enkel des Azarja und Urenkel Chilkias,
And after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king of Persia, Ezra the son of Serayah, the son of 'Azaryah, the son of Chilkiyah,
2 des Sohnes Sallums und Enkels Sadoks und Urenkels des Achitub,
The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Achitub,
3 des Sohnes des Amarja und Enkels des Ajarja und Urenkels des Merajot,
The son of Amaryah, the son of 'Azaryah, the son of Merayoth,
4 des Sohnes des Zerachja und Enkels Uzzis und Urenkels des Bukki,
The son of Zerachyah, the son of 'Uzzi, the son of Bukki,
5 des Sohnes Abisuas, des Enkels Pinechas und Urenkel Eleazars, des Sohnes des Hohenpriesters Aaron.
The son of Abishua', the son of Phinehas, the son of Elazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:
6 Eben dieser Esdras zog von Babylon herauf. Er war Schriftgelehrter, bewandert in Mosis Lehre, die der Herr, Gott Israels, gegeben hatte. Ihm gab der König, was er sich wünschte, unter dem Schutze des Herrn, seines Gottes.
This 'Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a practised expounder in the law of Moses, which the Lord the God of Israel hath given; and the king gave him, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him, all his request.
7 So zog eine Anzahl von Söhnen Israels, Priester, Leviten, Sänger, Torhüter und Tempelsklaven mit ihm nach Jerusalem im siebten Jahre des Königs Artachsast.
And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the gate-keepers, and the temple-servants, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of king Artaxerxes.
8 Er kam nach Jerusalem im fünften Monat, das ist im siebten Jahre des Königs.
And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.
9 Am ersten Tag des ersten Monats, das ist im Nisan, verfügte er den Auszug aus Babylon. Und am ersten Tag des fünften Monats kam er nach Jerusalem unter dem sicheren Schutze seines Gottes.
For on the first day of the first month was the commencement of the expedition from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.
10 Denn Esdras hatte sein Herz darauf gerichtet, des Herrn Lehre zu erforschen und zu befolgen und Satzung und Recht in Israel zu lehren.
For 'Ezra had directed his heart to inquire in the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and ordinances.
11 Dies ist die Abschrift des Schreibens, das der König Artachsast dem Priester und Schreiber Esdras gegeben hat, dem Ausleger der Gebote und Vorschriften des Herrn für Israel:
Now this is the copy of the letter which king Artaxerxes gave unto 'Ezra the priest, the expounder of the law, the expounder of the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of his statutes for Israel.
12 "Artachsast, der König der Könige, an den Priester Esdras, den Ausleger des Gesetzes des Himmelsgottes usw.
Artaxerxes, the king of kings, unto 'Ezra the priest, the expounder of the law of the God of heaven, the perfect, and so forth.
13 Von mir ergeht Befehl: Jeder in meinem Reich von dem Volke Israel und seinen Priestern und Leviten, der sich getrieben fühlt, nach Jerusalem zu ziehen, ziehe mit dir!
By me is the order given, that every one who is freely willing in my kingdom out of the people of Israel, and their priests and Levites, to go up to Jerusalem, may go up with thee:
14 Du wirst vom König und seinen sieben Ratgebern gesandt, Juda und Jerusalem zu erkunden, nach deines Gottes Gesetz, dessen du kundig bist.
Forasmuch as thou art sent on the part of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to make inquiry concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thy hand;
15 Überbringe das Silber und Gold, das der König und seine Räte für Israels Gott gespendet, dessen Wohnung in Jerusalem ist!
And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem.
16 Ebenso alles Silber und Gold, das du in der ganzen Provinz Babel bekommst als freiwillige Gaben des Volkes und der Priester, die sie für das Haus ihres Gottes zu Jerusalem spenden!
And all [freewill offerings of] silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offerings which the people and the priests offer willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem.
17 Demgemäß kaufe gewissenhaft für das Geld Stiere, Widder und Lämmer und die dazugehörigen Speise- und Trankopfer und opfere sie auf dem Altar des Hauses eures Gottes zu Jerusalem.
Therefore mayest thou buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.
18 Und was dir und deinen Brüdern beliebt, mit dem Rest des Silbers und des Goldes zu tun, das tut nach eures Gottes Willen!
And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do according to the will of your God.
19 Liefere auch die Geräte ab, die man für den Gottesdienst im Hause deines Gottes hergegeben, vor Gott in Jerusalem!
And the vessels which have been given unto thee for the service of the house of thy God, deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.
20 Den übrigen Bedarf deines Gotteshauses, den du zu decken hast, bestreite aus dem königlichen Schatzhaus!
And the remainder that will yet be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to procure, procure out of the King's treasure-house.
21 Von mir, König Artachsast, wird Befehl an alle Schatzmeister in Syrien erteilt: Alles, was der Priester Esdras, der Ausleger des Gesetzes des Himmelsgottes, von euch verlangt, werde genau geleistet,
And by me, me King Artaxerxes, is the order given unto all the treasurers who are beyond the river, that whatsoever 'Ezra the priest, the expounder of the law of the God of heaven, may demand of you, shall be done speedily.
22 an Silber bis zu hundert Talenten, an Weizen bis zu hundert Malter, an Wein bis zu hundert Maß, an Öl bis zu hundert Maß und an Salz unbeschränkt.
Up to one hundred talents of silver, and up to one hundred cors of wheat, and up to one hundred baths of wine, and up to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing it.
23 Alles, was nach dem Befehl des Himmelsgottes ist, werde genau für das Haus des Himmelsgottes geleistet, auf daß kein Zorn über das Reich des Königs und seiner Söhne komme!
Whatsoever is ordered by the God of heaven shall be carefully done for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the kingdom of the king and his sons?
24 Ferner sei euch kundgetan: Nicht erlaubt ist es, irgendeinem der Priester, Leviten, Sänger, Torhüter, Tempelsklaven und Knechte dieses Gotteshauses Steuer, Abgabe oder Zoll aufzulegen.
And to you make we it known, that on any of the priests and Levites, singers, gate-keepers, and temple-servants, or ministers of this house of God, no one shall be empowered to impose any tax, tribute, or toll.
25 Du aber, Esdras, setze nach deiner Gottesgelehrtheit, die du hast, Richter und Gerichtsvollzieher ein, die alles Volk in Syrien richten sollen, und solche, die deines Gottes Gesetze kennen! Wer sie nicht kennt, den sollt ihr belehren!
And thou, 'Ezra, according to the wisdom of thy God which is in thy hand, appoint judges and magistrates, who are to judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and make ye them known to those that know them not.
26 Jeden aber, der deines Gottes Gesetze und das Gesetz des Königs nicht befolgt, den treffe strenge gerichtliche Strafe, entweder Tod oder Verbannung oder Geldstrafe oder Haft!"
And if there be any one who will not execute the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let justice be speedily executed upon him, whether it be unto death or to banishment, or to a fine on goods, or to imprisonment.
27 Gepriesen sei der Herr, der Gott unserer Väter, der dies dem König ins Herz gegeben, um das Haus des Herrn in Jerusalem zu verherrlichen,
Blessed be the Lord the God of our fathers, who hath put the like of this in the heart of the king, to glorify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem;
28 und der mir die Huld des Königs, seiner Räte und all der mächtigen Beamten zugewandt hat! So faßte ich Mut unter dem Schutze des Herrn, meines Gottes, und sammelte aus Israel eine Anzahl Familienhäupter, mit mir zu ziehen.
And who hath extended kindness unto me before the king and his counsellors, and before all the mighty princes of the king: and I strengthened myself according to the hand of the Lord my God upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel principal men to go up with me.
