Esra 6

1 Also gab König Darius Befehl. Und man forschte im Urkundenhaus nach.

Then Daryavesh the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the archives, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.

2 Da fand sich zu Ekbatana im Schlosse, das in der Provinz Medien liegt, eine Schriftrolle, und als Denkwürdigkeit stand darin:

There was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of Media, a scroll, and there was written in it as follows: "Memorandum:

3 "Im ersten Jahre des Königs Cyrus hat der König Cyrus Befehl gegeben: Das Gotteshaus zu Jerusalem werde aufgebaut als Stätte, wo man Schlachtopfer schlachtet und wo man ihm seine Feueropfer darbringt! Seine Höhe sei sechzig Ellen und seine Breite sechzig Ellen!

In the first year of Koresh the king, Koresh the king made a decree: Concerning God's house at Jerusalem, let the house be built, the place where they offer sacrifices, and let its foundations be strongly laid; its height one hundred three feet and four inches; and its breadth one hundred three feet and four inches;

4 Drei Schichten von Quadersteinen seien da, ebenso eine Schicht von Holz! Die Kosten sollen aus dem königlichen Hause bestritten werden.

with three layers of great stones, and one layer of timber. And let the expenses be given out of the king's house.

5 Auch erstatte man die goldenen und silbernen Geräte des Gotteshauses, die Nebukadrezar aus dem Tempel zu Jerusalem weggenommen und nach Babel gebracht hat! Sie seien dem Tempel zu Jerusalem eigen!

Also let the gold and silver vessels of God's house, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought to Babylon, be restored, and brought again to the temple which is at Jerusalem, everyone to its place; and you shall put them in God's house.

6 Demnach bleibt fern von dort ihr, Tattenai, Landpfleger von Syrien, Setar Bozenai und seine Amtsgenossen, Statthalter von Syrien!

Now therefore, Tattenai, governor beyond the River, Shetharbozenai, and your companions the Apharsachites, who are beyond the River, you must stay far from there.

7 Laßt die Arbeit an diesem Gotteshause gehen! Der Statthalter der Judäer und die Ältesten der Juden sollen jenes Gotteshaus an seiner Stätte aufbauen!

Leave the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in its place.

8 Und von mir ergeht der Befehl über das, was ihr jenen Ältesten der Judäer tun sollt, um jenes Gotteshaus aufzubauen. Aus den königlichen Einkünften des Tributs von Syrien werde jenen Männern genau ausbezahlt, um sie nicht zu stören.

Moreover I make a decree what you shall do to these elders of the Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, even of the tribute beyond the River, expenses be given with all diligence to these men, that they be not hindered.

9 Und was sonst nötig ist, wie junge Stiere, Widder und Lämmer zu Brandopfern für den Himmelsgott, Weizen, Salz, Wein und Öl, werde ihnen nach Angabe der Priester zu Jerusalem Tag für Tag ungeschmälert geliefert!

That which they have need of, both young bulls, and rams, and lambs, for burnt offerings to the God of heaven; also wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the word of the priests who are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail;

10 Sie sollen dem Himmelsgott Wohlgerüche darbringen und für das Leben des Königs und seiner Söhne beten!

that they may offer sacrifices of pleasant aroma to the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.

11 Ferner ergeht von mir Befehl: Wer diesen Beschluß ändert, aus dessen Haus werde ein Balken gerissen und er selbst gepfählt daran geschlagen! Sein Haus aber werde deshalb zum Misthaufen gemacht!

Also I have made a decree, that whoever shall alter this word, let a beam be pulled out from his house, and let him be lifted up and fastened thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this:

12 Der Gott aber, der seinen Namen dort thronen läßt, stürze jeden König und jedes Volk, die es wagen sollten, das Gotteshaus zu Jerusalem zum zweitenmal zu zerstören! Ich, Darius, habe den Befehl gegeben. Er werde genau befolgt!"

and the God who has caused his name to dwell there overthrow all kings and peoples who shall put forth their hand to alter the same, to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Daryavesh have made a decree; let it be done with all diligence.

13 Da taten Syriens Landpfleger Tattenai, Setar Bozenai und ihre Amtsgenossen genauso, wie es König Darius angeordnet hatte.

Then Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, Shetharbozenai, and their companions, because Daryavesh the king had sent a decree, did accordingly with all diligence.

14 So bauten die Ältesten der Judäer glücklich weiter nach der Weissagung des Aggäus und des Iddosohnes Zacharias, der Propheten. So hatten sie gebaut und waren fertig geworden auf Geheiß des Gottes Israels und auf Befehl des Cyrus und des Darius sowie des Perserkönigs Artachsast.

The elders of the Jews built and prospered, through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. They built and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the decree of Koresh, and Daryavesh, and Artachshasta king of Persia.

15 So vollendeten sie das Haus bis zum dritten Tag des Monats Adar, also im sechsten Regierungsjahr des Königs Darius.

This house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Daryavesh the king.

16 Dann feierten die Söhne Israels, die Priester und die Leviten und die anderen Söhne der Gefangenschaft die Einweihung dieses Gotteshauses mit Freude.

The children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the people from the exile, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.

17 Und sie brachten bei der Einweihung des Gotteshauses hundert Stiere dar, zweihundert Widder, vierhundert Lämmer und zwölf Ziegenböcke als Sündopfer für ganz Israel, entsprechend der Zahl der Stämme Israels.

They offered at the dedication of this house of God one hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve male goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

18 Sie bestellten auch die Priester nach ihren Abteilen und die Leviten nach ihren Klassen zum Gottesdienst in Jerusalem nach der Vorschrift des Buches Mosis.

They set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.

19 Dann feierten die Söhne der Gefangenschaft das Passah am vierten Tage des ersten Monats.

The people from the exile kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.

20 Denn die Priester und Leviten hatten sie wie ein Mann gereinigt. Sie alle waren rein. Dann schlachteten sie das Passah für alle Söhne der Gefangenschaft und für ihre Brüder, die Priester und die Leviten.

For the priests and the Levites had purified themselves together; all of them were pure: and they killed the Passover lamb for all the people from the exile, and for their brothers the priests, and for themselves.

21 Und die Söhne Israels, die aus der Gefangenschaft zurückgekehrt waren, verzehrten es; aber auch alle, die sich zu ihnen hin von der Unreinheit der Heiden im Land abgesondert hatten, um den Herrn, Israels Gott, zu suchen.

The children of Israel who had come again out of the captivity, and all such as had separated themselves to them from the filthiness of the nations of the land, to seek the LORD, the God of Israel, ate,

22 Sie feierten das Fest der ungesäuerten Brote in Freuden sieben Tage. Denn der Herr hatte sie erfreut und ihnen des Assyrerkönigs Herz zugewandt, daß er sie unterstützte bei der Arbeit am Gotteshaus des Gottes Israels.

and kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had made them joyful, and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to strengthen their hands in the work of God's house, the God of Israel.
