1 Er brachte mich zurück zur Tür des Hauses; siehe, Wasser sprudelte hervor gen Osten unter jenes Hauses Schwelle. Des Hauses Vorderseite sah ja gegen Osten; das Wasser aber floß zur rechten Seite dieses Hauses, auf der Südseite des Altars.
The man took me back to the Temple entrance. I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the Temple and flowing east (because the Temple faced east). The water was coming from under the south side of the Temple and ran south of the altar.
2 Er führte mich zum Nordtore hinaus und auf dem Außenweg herum zum äußern Tor, das gegen Morgen liegt. Da quoll das Wasser an der rechten Seitenwand hervor.
Then he took me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate that faced east. I saw water was trickling out from the south side of the gate.
3 Der Mann ging gegen Osten mit einer Schnur in seiner Hand; dann maß er tausend Ellen ab und hieß mich durch das Wasser gehn, das bis zum Knöchel reichte.
The man walked east holding a measuring line He measured a thousand cubits and led me through the water which came up to my ankles.
4 Er maß aufs neue tausend Ellen ab und hieß mich durch das Wasser gehn. Es ging bis an die Knie. Er maß aufs neue tausend Ellen ab und hieß mich durch das Wasser gehn. Es reichte an die Hüften.
He measured another thousand cubits and led me through water which came up to my knees. He measured another thousand cubits and led me through water that came up to my waist.
5 Er maß noch tausend Ellen ab, da war's ein Strom, durch den ich nicht mehr schreiten konnte. Das Wasser war zu tief, ein Wasser nur zum Schwimmen, ein Strom, nicht zu durchwaten.
He measured another thousand cubits, but this was a river I couldn't cross. The water had risen so high you could swim in it. It was a river that couldn't be crossed on foot.
6 Er sprach zu mir: "Hast du's gesehen, Menschensohn?", und führte zu des Stromes Ufer mich zurück.
“Son of man, have you observed all this?” he asked. Then he took me back to the riverbank.
7 Bei meiner Rückkehr sah ich an des Flusses Ufer auf beiden Seiten viele Bäume stehn.
When I got there, I saw a large number of trees on both sides of the river.
8 Er sprach zu mir: "Dies Wasser fließt zur Markung des Ostens hin und läuft hinab zur Ebene und fällt ins Meer. Kommt dieses Wasser in das Meer, dann wird das Wasser dort gesund.
He told me, “This water flows out into the land to the east and into the Arabah. When it arrives at the Dead Sea, it turns the saltwater fresh.
9 Und jedes lebende Geschöpf, das sich bewegt, zu dem die beiden Arme des Stromes kommen, wird mit Lebenskraft erfüllt. Sehr viele werden's sein, denn jenes Wasser kommt dahin. Dann wird ein jegliches gesund, voll Lebenskraft, zu dem sich so der Strom ergießt.
There will be many animals and fish wherever the river flows. Because the river turns the saltwater fresh wherever it flows, everything will be able to live there.
10 An seiner Seite stehen Fischer von Engaddi bis nach Eglaim. Zum Netzetrocknen gibt es einen Platz. Ihr Fischreichtum wird ganz gewaltig groß wie der des Weltmeers sein.
Fishermen will stand on the shore of the Dead Sea. They will be able to spread their nets from En-gedi to En-eglaim and catch many kinds of fish. There will be plenty of fish just like the Mediterranean Sea.
11 Nur seine Tümpel, seine Lachen, werden nimmer süß gemacht, weil sie bestimmt zur Salzgewinnung.
However, the marshes and swampy areas won't become fresh; they will remain salty.
12 Und an des Stromes Ufern auf den beiden Seiten sprießen allerlei Fruchtbäume, und ihre Blätter welken nicht, und ihre Fruchtbarkeit erschöpft sich nicht. In dem bestimmten Monat tragen sie frühzeitig Frucht. Denn aus dem Heiligtum fließt ihr Gewässer her. Zur Nahrung dienen ihre Früchte und ihre Blätter zur Arznei."
All types of fruit trees will grow on both sides of the river. Their leaves won't wither, and they won't fail to produce fruit. They will produce fruit every month, because the river flowing from the sanctuary comes to water them. Their fruit will be eaten as food and their leaves will be used for healing.”
13 So spricht der Herr, der Herr: "Das ist die Grenzbestimmung nun, nach der das Land ihr unter die zwölf Stämme Israels verteilen sollt. Zwei gleiche Teile werden Joseph zugeteilt.
This is what the Lord God says: “These are the boundaries you are to use when allocating ownership of the land to the twelve tribes of Israel (Joseph is to receive two allocations.)
14 Und dann verteilt ihr es, dem einen gleich so viel wie seinem Bruder! Ich schwur mit aufgehobener Hand, es euren Vätern einzuräumen. Nun wird euch dieses Land als Erbbesitz zuteil.
You are to allocate the land to them equally. I held up my hand and made a solemn promise to give it to your forefathers, so this land will come to you to own and to pass on as an inheritance.
15 Dies sind die Landesgrenzen: Die nördliche geht von dem großen Meer auf Chetlon bis nach Sedad zu,
These shall be the country's boundaries: On the northern side it runs from the Mediterranean Sea along the Hethlon road and through Lebo-hamath to Zedad;
16 nach Chamat, Berot und Sibraim, das zwischen dem Gebiete von Damaskus und dem von Chamat liegt, und nach dem mittleren Chaser, das an der Grenze Haurans liegt.
then on to Berothah, and Sibraim on the border between Damascus and Hamath, and all the way to Hazer-hatticon, on the border of Hauran.
17 Die Grenze geht vom Meer bis Chasar Enon. Das Damaszenerland im Norden, gegen Norden das Gebiet von Chamat, das ist die Nordseite.
So the border is from the Mediterranean Sea to Hazar-enan, along the northern border with Damascus, with the border of Hamath to the north. This is the northern boundary.
18 Es zieht die Ostseite sich zwischen Hauran und Damaskus und Gilead, hierauf zum Lande Israel dem Jordan zu. Und von dem Ufer bis zum Ostmeer sollt ihr messen! Dies ist die Ostseite.
The eastern boundary runs from Hauran and Damascus, down along the Jordan between Gilead and the land of Israel, to the Dead Sea and on to Tamar. This is the eastern boundary.
19 Die Südseite zieht gegen Mittag zu, von Tamar bis zum Haderwasser bei Kades und nach dem Tal zum großen Meer; das ist die Südseite gen Mittag.
The southern boundary runs from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, then along the Wadi of Egypt to the Mediterranean Sea. This is the southern boundary.
20 Die Westseite wird von dem großen Meer gebildet, von da an bis nach Chamat hin; das ist die Westseite.
The Mediterranean Sea is the western boundary all the way up to a location opposite Lebo-hamath. This is the western boundary.
21 Dies Land verteilet unter euch, den Stämmen Israels entsprechend!
You are to allocate this land for you to own according to the tribes of Israel.
22 Verlost es unter euch als Erbbesitz und unter jene Fremden, die bei euch geweilt und die auch Kinder unter euch gezeugt! Denn diese seien euch wie Eingeborene Söhne Israels! Sie sollen mit euch losen auch um das Besitztum mitten bei den Stämmen Israels!
You are to allocate land to own and to pass on as an inheritance for yourselves, and for the foreigners who live among you who have children. You shall treat them in the same way as Israelites born in the country. They are to be given a land allocation to own among the Israelite tribes in the same way as you.
23 Und in dem Stamm, in dem ein jeglicher als Fremdling weilt, dort sollt ihr seinen Erbbesitz ihm geben!" Ein Spruch des Herrn, des Herrn.
Foreigners are to be allocated land to own among the tribe where they live, declares the Lord God.”
