2 Mose 24

1 Zu Moses aber hatte er gesprochen: "Steig zum Herrn empor, du, Aaron, Nadab und Abihu und siebzig von den Ältesten Israels und betet aus der Ferne an!

And unto Moses He said: 'Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off;

2 Moses allein trete zum Herrn! Die anderen dürfen nicht näher treten. Auch das Volk darf nicht mit ihm hinaufsteigen."

and Moses alone shall come near unto the LORD; but they shall not come near; neither shall the people go up with him.'

3 Und Moses kam und kündete dem Volke alle Worte des Herrn und alle Rechtssatzungen. Da antwortete das Volk einstimmig und sprach: "All die Worte, die der Herr gesprochen, wollen wir befolgen."

And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said: 'All the words which the Lord hath spoken will we do.'

4 Und Moses schrieb alle Worte des Herrn nieder. Am anderen Morgen früh aber baute er einen Altar unten am Berge und zwölf Denksteine für die zwölf Stämme Israels.

And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the mount, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

5 Dann sandte er die Jungmänner der Israeliten hin, und sie brachten Brandopfer und schlachteten Stiere zu Dankopfern für den Herrn.

And he sent the young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt-offerings, and sacrificed peace-offerings of oxen unto the LORD.

6 Moses aber nahm den einen Teil des Blutes und goß es in die Becken; den anderen Teil des Blutes sprengte er an den Altar.

And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; and half of the blood he dashed against the altar.

7 Dann nahm er das Bundesbuch und las es dem Volke laut vor. Sie sprachen: "Alles, was der Herr geredet, wollen wir tun und darauf hören."

And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the hearing of the people; and they said: 'All that the LORD hath spoken will we do, and obey.'

8 Da nahm Moses das Blut, sprengte es auf das Volk und sprach: "Dies ist das Blut des Bundes, den der Herr mit euch schließt auf alle diese Worte hin."

And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said: 'Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you in agreement with all these words.'

9 Dann stiegen Moses empor und Aaron, Nadab, Abihu mit siebzig der Ältesten Israels.

Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel;

10 Da sahen sie Israels Gott, zu seinen Füßen etwas wie ein Werk aus Saphirplatten und wie der Himmel selbst so rein.

and they saw the God of Israel; and there was under His feet the like of a paved work of sapphire stone, and the like of the very heaven for clearness.

11 Aber an die Edlen der Israeliten hatte er nicht seine Hand gelegt. So schauten sie die Gottheit, konnten aber wie sonst essen und trinken.

And upon the nobles of the children of Israel He laid not His hand; and they beheld God, and did eat and drink.

12 Da sprach der Herr zu Moses: "Steig auf den Berg zu mir und bleibe hier! Ich will dir Steintafeln mit dem Gesetze und dem Gebote geben, das ich zu ihrer Weisung geschrieben habe."

And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Come up to Me into the mount and be there; and I will give thee the tables of stone, and the law and the commandment, which I have written, that thou mayest teach them.'

13 Da stand Moses auf und sein Diener Josue. Und Moses stieg zu dem Berge der Gottheit empor.

And Moses rose up, and Joshua his minister; and Moses went up into the mount of God.

14 Zu den Ältesten aber hatte er gesagt: "Wartet hier auf uns, bis wir zu euch zurückkehren! Bei euch sind ja Aaron und Hur. Wer einen Rechtsstreit hat, wende sich an sie!"

And unto the elders he said: 'Tarry ye here for us, until we come back unto you; and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you; whosoever hath a cause, let him come near unto them.'

15 Und Moses stieg auf den Berg. Da verhüllte die Wolke den Berg.

And Moses went up into the mount, and the cloud covered the mount.

16 Und des Herren Majestät ließ sich herab auf den Berg Sinai. Und die Wolke hüllte ihn sechs Tage ein. Am siebten Tage aber rief er Moses mitten aus der Wolke an.

And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; and the seventh day He called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

17 Die Erscheinung der Majestät des Herrn aber war wie ein fressendes Feuer auf dem Bergesgipfel vor den Augen der Söhne Israels.

And the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.

18 Und Moses kam mitten in die Wolke und stieg auf den Berg. Und dann weilte Moses auf dem Berge vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte.

And Moses entered into the midst of the cloud, and went up into the mount; and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
