2 Mose 11

1 Und der Herr sprach zu Moses: "Noch eine Plage bringe ich über Pharao und Ägypten. Hernach läßt er euch von hier abziehen, und wenn er lediglich die Entlassung zugibt, dann jagt er euch gewaltsam fort.

Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Yet one plague more will I bring on Pharaoh, and on Egypt [Abode of slavery]; afterwards he will surely divorce you and let you go. When he casts you out, he will surely divorce you out altogether.

2 Schärfe dem Volke ein, sie sollen, Männer wie Weiber, von den Bekannten silbernen und goldenen Schmuck erbitten!"

Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man ask of his neighbor, and every woman of her neighbor, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold.”

3 Und der Herr stimmte die Ägypter dem Volke günstig. Dazu galt der Mann Moses sehr viel in Ägypten, bei Pharaos Dienern wie beim Volke.

Adonai gave the people chen ·grace· in the sight of the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery]. Moreover the man Moses [Drawn out] was very great in the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery], in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.

4 Da sprach Moses: "So spricht der Herr: 'Um Mitternacht fahre ich mitten durch Ägypten.

Moses [Drawn out] said, “This is what Adonai says: ‘About midnight I will go out into the middle of Egypt [Abode of slavery],

5 Dann stirbt im Lande Ägypten jeder Erstgeborene, von Pharaos Erstgeborenem an, der einst auf seinem Throne sitzen sollte, bis zu dem Erstgeborenen der Sklavin hinter der Handmühle, und alle Erstlingswürfe des Viehes.

and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery] shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of livestock.

6 Dann ist ein groß Gejammer im ganzen Lande Ägypten, desgleichen noch nie gewesen, noch je sein wird.

There shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery], such as there has not been, nor shall be any more.

7 Aber gegen keinen der Israeliten streckt ein Hund die Zunge heraus, weder gegen Mensch noch Vieh, daß ihr erkennet, wie der Herr zwischen Israel und Ägypten scheidet.'

But against any of the children of Israel [God prevails] a dog won’t even bark or move its tongue, against man or animal; that you may know that Adonai makes a distinction between the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] and Israel [God prevails].

8 Dann beugen sich alle diese deine Diener zu mir, werfen sich vor mir nieder und sprechen: 'Zieh weg, du samt dem ganzen Volke bei dir!' Hernach ziehe ich weg." Und er ging von Pharao in loderndem Zorn.

All these servants of yours will come down to me, and bow down themselves to me, saying, “Get out, with all the people who follow you;” and after that I will go out.’” He went out from Pharaoh in hot anger.

9 Da sprach der Herr zu Moses: "Der Pharao hört nicht auf euch, damit sich meine Wunder mehren im Ägypterlande."

Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Pharaoh won’t sh'ma ·hear obey· you, that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery].”

10 So hatten Moses und Aaron alle diese Wunder vor Pharao getan. Aber der Herr verhärtete Pharaos Sinn, daß er die Israeliten nicht aus seinem Lande entließ.

Moses [Drawn out] and Aaron [Light-bringer] did all these wonders before Pharaoh, and Adonai hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he didn’t let the children of Israel [God prevails] go out of his land.
