Ester 9

1 Im zwölften Mond, das ist im Monat Adar, am dreizehnten, am Tage da des Königs Wort und sein Gesetz vollzogen werden sollten, am selben Tag, an dem die Judenfeinde hofften, sie zu überwältigen, und der sich nun gewandelt hatte und jetzt zu einem solchen ward, an dem die Juden selber ihre Hasser überwinden sollten,

So in the twelft moneth, which is the moneth Adar, vpon the thirteenth daye of the same, when the Kings commandement and his decree drew neere to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Iewes hoped to haue power ouer them (but it turned contrary: for the Iewes had rule ouer them that hated them)

2 da scharten sich die Juden in den Städten in sämtlichen Provinzen, die den König Ahasveros gehörten, um Hand an die zu legen, die ihnen Unheil zuzufügen trachteten. Und niemand hielt vor ihnen stand. Die Furcht vor ihnen fiel auf alle Völker.

The Iewes gathered themselues together into their cities throughout all the prouinces of the King Ahashuerosh, to lay hande on such as sought their hurt, and no man coulde withstande them: for the feare of them fel vpon al people.

3 Und alle Fürsten der Provinzen, Satrapen, Statthalter, des Königs Angestellte halfen nun den Juden, dieweil die Furcht vor Mordekai auf sie gefallen war.

And all the rulers of the prouinces, and the princes and the captaines, and the officers of the King exalted the Iewes: for the feare of Mordecai fell vpon them.

4 Denn groß stand Mordekai im Haus des Königs da. Durch alle Lande lief von ihm die Kunde. Denn Mordekai, der Herr, ward immer größer.

For Mordecai was great in the kings house, and the report of him went through all the prouinces: for this man Mordecai waxed greater and greater.

5 Die Juden schlugen alle ihre Feinde fürchterlich mit Schwert und Mord und Tod. Mit ihren Hassern taten sie nach Gutdünken.

Thus the Iewes smote all their enemies with strokes of the sworde and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they woulde vnto those that hated them.

6 So töteten die Juden und vertilgten in der Burg von Susan fünfhundert Mann.

And at Shushan the palace slewe the Iewes and destroyed fiue hundreth men,

7 Parsandata und Dalephon und Aspata,

And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha,

8 Porata und Adalja, Aridata,

And Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha,

9 Parmasta, Arisai und Aridai und Jezata,

And Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vaiezatha,

10 zehn Söhne Hamans, des Sohnes des Hammedata, des Judenfeindes, brachten sie ums Leben. Doch nach Beute streckten sie die Hand nicht aus.

The ten sonnes of Haman, ye sonne of Ammedatha, the aduersarie of the Iewes slewe they: but they layd not their hands on the spoyle.

11 An jenem Tage kam die Zahl der in der Susanburg Erschlagenen vor den König.

On the same day came ye nomber of those that were slayne, vnto the palace of Shushan before the King.

12 Da sprach der König zu der Königin Esther: "Zu Susan in der Burg erschlugen und vernichteten die Juden an fünfhundert Mann sowie zehn Söhne Hamans. Was taten sie da in den anderen königlichen Landen! Doch was ist deine Bitte, damit sie dir bewilligt werde? Und was ist weiter dein Begehr, daß es erfüllet werde?"

And the King sayd vnto the Queene Ester, The Iewes haue slayne in Shushan the palace and destroyed fiue hundreth men, and the ten sonnes of Haman: what haue they done in the rest of the Kings prouinces? and what is thy petition, that it may be giuen thee? or what is thy request moreouer, that it may be performed?

13 Und Esther sprach: "Gefällt's dem König, so möge morgen noch den Juden in Susan gestattet sein, zu tun wie heute, und die zehn Söhne Hamans hänge man auch an den Galgen!"

Then sayd Ester, If it please the King, let it be granted also to morow to the Iewes that are in Shushan, to do according vnto this daies decree, that they may hang vpon ye tree Hamans ten sonnes.

14 Darauf befahl der König, dies zu tun. Und so ward ein Befehl in Susan ausgegeben. Da hängte man zehn Söhne Hamans auf.

And the King charged to doe so, and the decree was giuen at Shushan, and they hanged Hamans ten sonnes.

15 Dann scharten sich in Susan auch die Juden am vierzehnten des Monats Adar und töteten dreihundert Mann zu Susan. Doch nach Beute streckten sie die Hand nicht aus.

So the Iewes that were in Shushan, assembled themselues vpon the fourteenth day of the moneth Adar, and slew three hundreth men in Shushan, but on the spoyle they layd not their hand.

16 Die anderen Juden in des Königs Landen hatten sich versammelt und waren für ihr Leben eingetreten. Sie schafften Ruhe sich vor ihren Feinden und töteten bei ihren Hassern 75.000. Doch nach Beute streckten sie die Hand nicht aus,

And the rest of the Iewes that were in the Kings prouinces assembled themselues, and stood for their liues, and had rest from their enemies, and slewe of them that hated them, seuentie and fiue thousand: but they layd not their hand on the spoyle.

17 am dreizehnten des Monats Adar. Sie ruhten am vierzehnten aus und machten ihn zu einem Tag der Gasterei und Freude.

This they did on the thirteenth day of the moneth Adar, and rested the fourteenth day thereof, and kept it a day of feasting and ioy.

18 Die Juden, die zu Susan waren, versammelten sich am dreizehnten und vierzehnten Tag und ruhten erst am fünfzehnten. Sie machten diesen Tag zu einem Tag der Gasterei und Freude.

But the Iewes that were in Shushan assembled themselues on the thirteenth day, and on the fourteenth therof, and they rested on the fifteenth of the same, and kept it a day of feasting and ioy.

19 So machen denn die Land-Juden, die in den Ortschaften des offenen Landes wohnen, den vierzehnten des Monats Adar zu einem Tag der Freude und der Gasterei, zu einem Festtag mit gegenseitiger Zusendung von Eßportionen.

Therefore the Iewes of the villages that dwelt in the vnwalled townes, kept the foureteenth day of the moneth Adar with ioy and feasting, euen a ioyfull day, and euery one sent presents vnto his neighbour.

20 Und Mordekai schrieb diese Dinge auf und sandte Schreiben allen Juden, die in des Königs Ahasveros Landen waren, den nahen und den fernen,

And Mordecai wrote these words, and sent letters vnto all the Iewes that were through all the prouinces of the King Ahashuerosh, both neere and farre,

21 um es ihnen zur ständigen Pflicht zu machen, daß sie den vierzehnten des Monats Adar, sowie den fünfzehnten alljährlich feiern sollten,

Inioyning them that they shoulde keepe the fourteenth day of the moneth Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, euery yeere.

22 entsprechend jenen Tagen, da einst den Juden Ruhe vor den Feinden ward, sowie dem Monat, der sich für ihn aus Kummer in Fröhlichkeit, aus Trauer in einen Festtag gewandelt hatte. Sie hielten ihn als Tag der Gasterei und Freude und Zusendung von Eßportionen aneinander und von Geschenken an die Armen.

According to the dayes wherein the Iewes rested from their enemies, and the moneth which was turned vnto them from sorowe to ioy, and from mourning into a ioyfull day, to keepe them the dayes of feasting, and ioy, and to sende presents euery man to his neyghbour, and giftes to the poore.

23 Die Juden machten sich zum Brauch, was sie zu tun begonnen und was einst Mordekai an sie geschrieben.

And the Iewes promised to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written vnto them,

24 Denn Haman, Hammedatas Sohn, der Agagiter, der Widersacher aller Juden, hat einst die Ausrottung der Judenschaft geplant und hat das Pur, das ist das Los, werfen lassen, sie zu vernichten und zu vertilgen.

Because Haman the sonne of Hammedatha the Agagite al the Iewes aduersarie, had imagined against the Iewes, to destroy them, and had cast Pur (that is a lot) to consume and destroy them.

25 Doch als es vor den König kam, gab er den schriftlichen Befehl. So fiel denn auf sein eigen Haupt zurück sein schlimmer Plan, den er der Judenschaft zu Leide ausgeheckt. Man hängte ihn und seine Söhne an den Galgen.

And when she came before the King, he commanded by letters, Let this wicked deuise (which he imagined against the Iewes) turne vpon his owne head, and let them hang him and his sonnes on the tree.

26 Deshalb hieß man die Tage Purim nach dem Worte Pur, nach der Erzählung dieses Buches, was ihnen einst in Aussicht stand, und wie es ihnen drauf erging.

Therfore they called these dayes Purim, by the name of Pur, and because of all the wordes of this letter, and of that which they had seene besides this, and of that which had come vnto them.

27 Drum machten es zu fester Pflicht und festem Brauch die Juden für sich und ihre Nachkommen sowie für alle, die sich ihnen anschließen. Unwiderruflich soll es sein: Sie haben diese beiden Tage nach Anordnung und Zeitbestimmung jedes Jahr zu feiern! Sie haben diese Tage als Gedächtnistage zu feiern, daß sie in allen Zeitaltern, Geschlechtern und in Provinzen und in Städten feierlich begangen werden.

The Iewes also ordeined, and promised for them and for their seede, and for all that ioyned vnto them, that they would not faile to obserue those two dayes euery yeere, according to their writing, and according to their season,

28 Nie sollen die Purimstage aus der Juden Mitte schwinden und ihr Gedächtnis nie bei ihren Nachkommen aufhören.

And that these dayes shoulde be remembred, and kept throughout euery generation and euery familie, and euery prouince, and euery citie: euen these daies of Purim should not faile among the Iewes, and the memoriall of them should not perish from their seede.

29 Die Tochter Abichails und Mordekais, des Juden, die Königin Esther, verfaßte auch ein Schreiben, um die vollkommene Echtheit dieser zweiten Purimschrift vollauf zu bestätigen.

And the Queene Ester ye daughter of Abihail and Mordecai the Iew wrote with al authoritie (to cofirme this letter of Purim ye second time)

30 Man sandte Schreiben allen Juden in den 127 Ländern im Reich des Ahasveros mit Grüßen und Gesetzen.

And he sent letters vnto al the Iewes to the hundreth and seuen and twentie prouinces of the kingdome of Ahashuerosh, with words of peace and trueth,

31 Sie sollten diese Purimstage als gesetzlich anerkennen zu ihren Zeiten, so wie sie Mordekai, der Jude, und die Königin Esther einst gesetzlich gemacht, und wie sie für sich selbst und ihre Nachkommen die Fasten und die Weheklage zum Gesetz gemacht hatten.

To confirme these dayes of Purim, according to their seasons, as Mordecai the Iewe and Ester the Queene had appointed them, and as they had promised for them selues and for their seede with fasting and prayer.

32 Und der Befehl der Esther machte diese Purimvorschriften gesetzlich. Er ward in einem Buche aufgezeichnet.

And the decree of Ester confirmed these words of Purim, and was written in the booke.
