Epheser 6
1 Ihr Kinder, seid euren Eltern untertan im Herrn, denn so gehört es sich.
Ye children, be obedient unto your parents [in the Lord], for this is right:
2 "Du sollst deinen Vater und deine Mutter ehren". Dies ist das erste der Gebote, dem eine Verheißung beigegeben ist:
Honour thy father and thy mother, —which indeed is the first commandment with promise,
3 "damit es dir wohlergehe und du lange lebest auf Erden".
That it may come to be, well with thee, and thou shalt be long-lived upon the land.
4 Ihr Väter aber reizt eure Kinder nicht zum Zorne; erzieht sie in der Zucht und Ermahnung des Herrn.
And ye fathers, be not provoking your children to anger, but be nourishing them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.
5 Ihr Sklaven, gehorcht euren Herrn auf Erden mit Furcht und Zittern und in der Lauterkeit eures Herzens, wie Christo.
Ye servants, be obedient unto them who, after the flesh, are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto the Christ;
6 Seid nicht Augendiener, die nur den Menschen zu gefallen suchen. Seid vielmehr Sklaven Christi, die den Willen Gottes aus ganzem Herzen tun.
Not by way of eye-service as man-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God, from the soul,
7 Dient willig, als gälte es dem Herrn und nicht dem Menschen.
with good will, rendering service—as unto the Lord, and not unto men;
8 Ihr wißt ja, daß jeder für das Gute, das er tut, vom Herrn seinen Lohn empfängt, sei er nun Sklave oder Freier.
Knowing that, each one, whatsoever he may do that is good, the same, shall he receive back from the Lord, whether bond or free.
9 Doch auch ihr, Herren, handelt ihnen gegenüber ebenso. Lasset das Schelten! Ihr wißt ja: Geradeso wie sie habt ihr im Himmel einen Herrn; bei diesem gibt es kein Ansehen der Person.
And ye masters, the same things, be doing towards them, forbearing your threat—knowing that, both their and your Master, is in the heavens, and, respect of persons, there is none, with him.
10 Im übrigen: Erstarkt im Herrn und in seiner mächtigen Kraft.
For the rest, be empowering yourselves in the Lord, and in the grasp of his might:
11 Zieht Gottes volle Waffenrüstung an, damit ihr den Ränken des Teufels widerstehen könnt!
Put on the complete armour of God, with a view to your having power to stand against the strategies of the adversary;
12 Denn unser Kampf geht nicht gegen Fleisch und Blut, vielmehr gegen die Mächte und die Kräfte, die Weltbeherrscher dieser Finsternis, die bösen Geister in den Himmelshöhen. (aiōn g165)
Because our struggle is not against blood and flesh, but, against the principalities, against the authorities, against the world-holders, of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenlies. (aiōn g165)
13 So legt denn die volle Waffenrüstung Gottes an, damit ihr am bösen Tage widerstehen könnt und nach erkämpftem vollem Siege das Feld behauptet.
For this cause, take up the complete armour of God, in order that ye may receive power to withstand in the evil day, and, all things, having accomplished, to stand!
14 So steht da, umgürtet an den Lenden mit der Wahrheit, bekleidet mit dem Panzer der Gerechtigkeit,
Stand therefore, —having girded your loins with truth, and put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 beschuht an euren Füßen mit der Bereitschaft für das Evangelium des Friedens.
And shod your feet with the readiness of the glad-message of peace;
16 Zu all dem nehmt noch den Schild des Glaubens, mit dem ihr alle feurigen Geschosse des Bösen löschen könnt.
With all, having taken up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall have power, all the ignited darts of the wicked one, to quench;
17 Ergreift sodann den Helm zum Schutz und auch das Schwert des Geistes, das heißt das Wort Gottes.
And, the helmet of salvation, welcome ye, and the sword of the spirit, which is what God hath spoken,
18 Mit lauter Bitten und mit Flehen betet allezeit im Geiste; wacht noch dazu in anhaltendem Gebete für alle Heiligen,
With all prayer and supplication, praying in every season, in spirit, and, thereunto, watching, with all perseverance and supplication, for all the saints, —
19 und auch für mich, damit mir das rechte Wort verliehen werde, wenn ich meinen Mund auftun soll, um freimütig das Geheimnis des Evangeliums zu verkünden,
And on behalf of me; —that, unto me, may be given discourse in the opening of my mouth, with freedom of utterance, to make known the sacred secret [of the glad-message]
20 dessen Botschafter ich trotz der Fesseln bin, damit ich freimütig darüber rede, wie die Pflicht mir es gebietet.
In behalf of which I am conducting an embassy in chains, that, therein, I may use freedom of utterance as it is needful for me to speak.
21 Doch sollt auch ihr erfahren, wie meine Lage ist, wie es mir geht. Dies alles wird euch Tychikus erzählen, der liebe Bruder und treue Diener im Herrn.
In order, however, that, ye also, may know the things which relate to me—what I am accomplishing, —all things, shall Tychicus make known unto you, [he] the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord,
22 Gerade deshalb sende ich ihn zu euch, damit ihr erfahret, wie es um uns steht, und damit er eure Herzen tröste.
Whom I have sent unto you for this very purpose, that ye may get to know the things concerning us, and he may encourage your hearts.
23 Den Brüdern werde Friede zuteil und Liebe samt dem Glauben von Gott, dem Vater, und dem Herrn Jesus Christus!
Peace unto the brethren, and love with faith, —from God our Father, and Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Die Gnade sei mit allen, die unseren Herrn Jesus Christus in seiner Unvergänglichkeit lieben!
Favour be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptness.
