5 Mose 6
1 "Das ist das Gesetz mit den Satzungen und Rechten, die der Herr, euer Gott, euch zu lehren geboten, auf daß ihr sie tut in dem Lande, in das ihr zieht, es zu besetzen,
Now this is the mitzvot ·instructions·, the statutes, and the judgments, which Adonai your God enjoined to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you go over to possess it;
2 auf daß du den Herrn, deinen Gott, fürchtest und alle seine Satzungen und Gebote haltest, die ich dir befehle, du, dein Sohn und dein Enkel, all deine Lebenstage, und daß du lange lebest.
that you might fear Adonai your God, to keep all his statutes and his mitzvot ·instructions·, which I enjoin you; you, and your son, and your son’s son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.
3 Höre, Israel, und wahre sie, um danach zu tun, auf daß es dir wohlergehe und ihr gar zahlreich werdet, wie der Herr, der Gott deiner Väter, dir ein Land verhieß, das von Milch und Honig fließt!
Sh'ma ·Hear understand obey· therefore, Israel [God prevails], and observe to do it; that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as Adonai, the God of your fathers, has promised to you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
4 Höre, Israel! Der Herr ist unser Gott, der Herr allein.
Sh'ma ·Hear obey·, Israel [God prevails]: Yahweh is our God. Yahweh is echad ·one, one unity·.
5 Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, lieben mit ganzem Herzen, mit ganzer Seele und mit ganzer Kraft!
You shall את 'ahav ·affectionately love· Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.
6 Diese Worte, die ich dir heute vorlege, seien in deinem Herzen!
These words, which I enjoin you today, shall be on your heart;
7 Schärfe sie deinen Kindern zur Lebensregel ein und sprich davon, wenn du in deinem Hause weilst und auf dem Wege bist, wenn du dich legst und wenn du dich erhebst!
and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
8 Binde sie als Denkzeichen auf deine Hand und trage sie als Marken zwischen deinen Augen!
You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.
9 Schreibe sie auf deines Hauses Pfosten und an deine Tore!
You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates.
10 Bringt dich der Herr, dein Gott, in das Land, das er deinen Vätern Abraham, Isaak und Jakob zugeschworen, und gibt er dir große und schöne Städte, die du nicht gebaut,
It shall be, when Adonai your God brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham [Father of a multitude], to Isaac [Laughter], and to Jacob [Supplanter], to give you, great and goodly cities, which you didn’t build,
11 und Häuser, voll jeglichen Gutes, das du nicht angehäuft, gehauene Brunnen, die du nicht ausgehauen, Wein und Ölgärten, die du nicht gepflanzt, und du issest dich satt,
and houses full of all good things, which you didn’t fill, and cisterns dug out, which you didn’t dig, vineyards and olive trees, which you didn’t plant, and you shall eat and be full;
12 dann hüte dich, des Herrn, deines Gottes, zu vergessen, der dich aus dem Ägypterlande führte, aus dem Sklavenhaus!
then beware lest you forget Adonai, who brought you out of the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery], out of the house of bondage.
13 Den Herrn, deinen Gott, sollst du fürchten! Ihm sollst du dienen und schwören bei seinem Namen!
You shall fear Adonai your God; and you shall abad ·serve· him, and shall swear by his name.
14 Ihr dürft keinem anderen Gott nachgehen von den Göttern der Völker, die rings um euch sind.
You shall not go after other deities, of the deities of the peoples who are around you;
15 Denn der Herr, dein Gott, ist ein eifernder Gott in deiner Mitte. Daß nicht der Herr, dein Gott, über dich zornig werde und dich tilge vom Erdboden!
for Adonai your God among you is El Kana' [Jealous God]; lest the anger of Adonai your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.
16 Ihr sollt den Herrn, euren Gott, nicht mehr versuchen, wie ihr ihn zu Massa versucht habt!
You shall not tempt Adonai your God, as you tempted him in Massah [Testing].
17 Haltet des Herrn, eures Gottes, Gebote, Gesetze und Gebräuche, die er dir geboten.
You shall diligently keep the mitzvot ·instructions· of Adonai your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has enjoined you.
18 Tu, was recht und gut ist in den Augen des Herrn, auf daß es dir wohlergehe und du kommest und das treffliche, vom Herrn deinen Vätern zugeschworene Land besetzest,
You shall do that which is right and good in Adonai’s sight; that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which Adonai swore to your fathers,
19 wenn alle deine Feinde vor dir verjagt werden, wie der Herr verheißen hat!
to thrust out all your enemies from before you, as Adonai has spoken.
20 Wenn dich dein Sohn künftig fragt: 'Was ist es um diese Gebote, Gesetze und Gebräuche, die der Herr, unser Gott, euch geboten?',
Some day when your child asks you in time to come, saying, “What do the testimonies, the statutes, and the judgments, which Yahweh Eloheikhem [Yahweh our God] has enjoined you mean?”
21 so sprich zu deinem Sohne: 'Wir sind des Pharao Sklaven in Ägypten gewesen. Aber der Herr führte uns mit starker Hand aus Ägypten.
then you shall tell your child, “We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt [Abode of slavery]. Adonai brought us out of Egypt [Abode of slavery] with a mighty hand;
22 Der Herr tat vor unseren Augen große und schlimme Zeichen und Wunder an Ägypten, an Pharao und seinem ganzen Hause.
and Adonai showed great and awesome signs and wonders on Egypt [Abode of slavery], on Pharaoh, and on all his house, before our eyes;
23 Uns aber hat er von dort weggeführt, uns hierher zu bringen und uns das Land zu geben, das er unseren Vätern zugeschworen.
and he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore to our fathers.
24 Der Herr befahl uns, all diese Gebräuche zu tun, und den Herrn, unseren Gott, zu fürchten, uns zum Heil für alle Zeiten und zur Erhaltung unseres Lebens, wie es jetzt ist.
Adonai enjoined us to do all these statutes, to fear Yahweh Eloheikhem [Yahweh our God], for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are today.
25 Wir haben ein Verdienst beim Herrn, unserem Gott, wenn wir darüber wachen, dies ganze Gesetz zu tun, wie er uns hieß.'"
It shall be righteousness to us, if we observe to do all this mitzvot ·instructions· before Yahweh Eloheikhem [Yahweh our God], as he has enjoined us.”
