5 Mose 5
1 Moses berief ganz Israel und sprach zu ihnen: "Höre, Israel, die Gesetze und Gebräuche, die ich heute vor euren Ohren vortrage! Macht euch damit vertraut und habt acht, sie zu tun!
Then Moses summoned all Israel and said to them: Hear, O Israel, the statutes and ordinances that I declare in your hearing this day. Learn them and observe them carefully.
2 Der Herr, unser Gott, hat mit uns am Horeb einen Bund geschlossen.
The LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.
3 Nicht mit unseren Vätern hat der Herr diesen Bund geschlossen, sondern mit uns selber, mit diesen hier, die heute mit uns leben.
He did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with all of us who are alive here today.
4 Der Herr hat mit euch auf dem Berge von Angesicht zu Angesicht aus dem Feuer geredet.
The LORD spoke with you face to face out of the fire on the mountain.
5 Ich selber stand damals zwischen dem Herrn und euch, des Herrn Wort euch zu künden; denn ihr habt euch vor dem Feuer gefürchtet und seid nicht auf den Berg gestiegen. Er sprach:
At that time I was standing between the LORD and you to declare to you the word of the LORD, because you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain. And He said:
6 'Ich der Herr, bin dein Gott, der dich aus dem Ägypterland geführt, aus dem Sklavenhause.
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
7 Du sollst mir zum Trotze keine anderen Götter haben!
You shall have no other gods before Me.
8 Du sollst dir kein Bild machen irgendwelcher Gestalt, die am Himmel droben und unten auf Erden oder unter der Erde im Wasser ist!
You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in the heavens above, on the earth below, or in the waters beneath.
9 Du sollst dich nicht vor solchen niederwerfen, du sollst ihnen nicht dienen! Denn ich, der Herr, dein Gott, bin ein eifernder Gott, der die Schuld der Väter an den Kindern ahndet, an den Enkeln und Urenkeln derer, die mich hassen,
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on their children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
10 aber Huld erweist dem tausendsten Gliede derer, die mich lieben und meine Gebote halten.
but showing loving devotion to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.
11 Du sollst nicht des Herrn, deines Gottes, Namen eitel nennen! Der Herr läßt den nicht ungestraft, der seinen Namen eitel nennt.
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave anyone unpunished who takes His name in vain.
12 Wahre den Sabbattag, daß du ihn heilig haltest, wie der Herr, dein Gott, dir befohlen!
Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you.
13 Sechs Tage sollst du arbeiten, und so tu all dein Werk!
Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
14 Der siebte Tag aber ist ein Sabbat zu des Herrn, deines Gottes, Ehren. Du sollst kein Werk tun, weder du noch dein Sohn, noch deine Tochter und nicht dein Knecht noch deine Magd und nicht dein Rind noch dein Esel noch eines deiner Lasttiere und nicht der Fremdling, der in deinen Toren weilt! Dein Knecht und deine Magd sollen ruhen wie du!
but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God, on which you must not do any work—neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your ox or donkey or any of your livestock, nor the foreigner within your gates, so that your manservant and maidservant may rest as you do.
15 Denk daran, daß du selbst Knecht warst im Ägypterlande, und daß der Herr, dein Gott, dich mit starker Hand und gerecktem Arm von dort weggeführt! Deshalb befiehlt der Herr, dein Gott, den Sabbat zu halten.
Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. That is why the LORD your God has commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
16 Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter, wie dir der Herr, dein Gott, geboten, damit du lange lebest und es dir wohlergehe auf dem Boden, den dir der Herr, dein Gott, gibt!
Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
17 Du sollst nicht morden!
You shall not murder.
18 Du sollst nicht ehebrechen!
You shall not commit adultery.
19 Du sollst nicht stehlen!
You shall not steal.
20 Du sollst nicht als falscher Zeuge gegen deinen Nächsten aussagen!
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
21 Begehre nicht deines Nächsten Weib! Hab keine Gelüste nach deines Nächsten Haus und Feld, Knecht oder Magd, nicht nach seinem Rind oder Esel und nicht nach irgend etwas, was deines Nächsten ist!'
You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house or field, or his manservant or maidservant, or his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
22 Diese Worte hat der Herr mit lauter Stimme zu eurer Gesamtgemeinde geredet auf dem Berge aus dem Feuer, dem Gewölk und Dunkel heraus, nichts weiter. Dann schrieb er sie auf zwei Steintafeln und gab sie mir.
The LORD spoke these commandments in a loud voice to your whole assembly out of the fire, the cloud, and the deep darkness on the mountain; He added nothing more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.
23 Als ihr aus dem Dunkel die Stimme hörtet und der Berg im Feuer brannte, tratet ihr zu mir her, alle eure Stammeshäupter und Ältesten, und spracht:
And when you heard the voice out of the darkness while the mountain was blazing with fire, all the heads of your tribes and your elders approached me,
24 'Der Herr, unser Gott, zeigt uns seine Herrlichkeit und Größe. Wir hören aus dem Feuer seine Stimme. So erfahren wir heute, daß Gott mit einem Menschen redet und dieser bleibt leben.
and you said, “Behold, the LORD our God has shown us His glory and greatness, and we have heard His voice out of the fire. Today we have seen that a man can live even if God speaks with him.
25 Aber warum sollen wir sterben? Dies große Feuer frißt uns noch. Wenn wir noch länger des Herrn, unseres Gottes, Stimme anhören, so sterben wir noch am Ende.
But now, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us, and we will die, if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any longer.
26 Wo ist ein sterblich Wesen, das die Stimme des lebendigen Gottes aus dem Feuer hat reden hören wie wir, und blieb leben?
For who of all flesh has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the fire, as we have, and survived?
27 Tritt du hin und höre alles, was der Herr, unser Gott, sprechen will! Sage uns dann alles, was der Herr, unser Gott, dir sagt! Wir hören es und tun danach.'
Go near and listen to all that the LORD our God says. Then you can tell us everything the LORD our God tells you; we will listen and obey.”
28 Und der Herr hörte eure lauten Reden bei eurer Unterredung mit mir. Da sprach der Herr, unser Gott, zu mir: 'Ich habe dieses Volkes laute Reden gehört, die sie mit dir geführt haben. Sie haben recht mit allem, was sie sagen.
And the LORD heard the words you spoke to me, and He said to me, “I have heard the words that these people have spoken to you. They have done well in all that they have spoken.
29 Daß doch ihr Herz so bliebe, mich allzeit zu fürchten und alle meine Gebote zu halten, auf daß es ihnen und ihren Kindern immer wohlergehe!
If only they had such a heart to fear Me and keep all My commandments always, so that it might be well with them and with their children forever.
30 Geh! Sag ihnen: Kehrt zu euren Zelten wieder!
Go and tell them: ‘Return to your tents.’
31 Du aber bleib hier bei mir, daß ich dir alle Gebote, Gesetze und Gebräuche künde, die du sie lehren sollst, daß sie danach tun in dem Land, das ich ihnen zu eigen gebe!'
But you stand here with Me, that I may speak to you all the commandments and statutes and ordinances you are to teach them to follow in the land that I am giving them to possess.”
32 Seid also bedacht zu tun, wie euch der Herr, euer Gott, befahl! Weicht nicht rechts und nicht links ab!
So be careful to do as the LORD your God has commanded you; you are not to turn aside to the right or to the left.
33 Genau den Weg geht, den der Herr, euer Gott, euch vorschreibt, auf daß ihr lebet, glücklich werdet und lange lebet in dem Land, das ihr erobert!"
You must walk in all the ways that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.
