5 Mose 3

1 "Wir gingen weiter und zogen nach Basan. Da zog uns Basans König Og mit seinem gesamten Volk entgegen zur Schlacht bei Edreï.

Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan. Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

2 Der Herr sprach zu mir: 'Fürchte ihn nicht! Ich gebe ihn nebst seinem ganzen Volk und Land in deine Hand. Tu mit ihm, wie du getan mit dem Amoriterkönig Sichon zu Chesbon!'

Yahweh said to me, “Don’t fear him; for I have delivered him, with all his people and his land, into your hand. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”

3 So gab der Herr, unser Gott, in unsere Hand auch den Basanskönig Og mit all seiner Mannschaft. Wir schlugen ihn, daß kein Flüchtling übrigblieb.

So Yahweh our God also delivered into our hand Og, the king of Bashan, and all his people. We struck him until no one was left to him remaining.

4 Damals eroberten wir alle seine Städte. Da war keine Feste, die wir ihnen nicht genommen hätten: sechzig Städte, alles, was zum Bezirk Argob und zu Ogs Königreich in Basan gehörte.

We took all his cities at that time. There was not a city which we didn’t take from them: sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

5 All dies waren Städte mit hohen Mauern, Toren und Riegeln umwehrt, außerdem zahlreiche offene Landstädte.

All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, in addition to a great many villages without walls.

6 Wir bannten sie, wie Chesbons König Sichon, jede Stadt, selbst schwächliche Männer, Weiber und Kinder.

We utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones.

7 Alles Vieh aber und das Plündergut aus den Städten haben wir für uns genommen.

But all the livestock, and the plunder of the cities, we took for plunder for ourselves.

8 So nahmen wir damals von den beiden Amoriterkönigen das Land jenseits des Jordans, vom Arnonflusse bis zum Hermongebirge -

We took the land at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon.

9 die Sidonier heißen den Hermon Sirjon, die Amoriter Senir -,

(The Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir.)

10 alle Städte der Ebene, ganz Gilead und ganz Basan bis Salcha und Edreï, die zum Reich Ogs gehörenden Städte in Basan.

We took all the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, to Salecah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

11 Denn der Basanskönig Og war der letzte Rest der Rephaiter gewesen. Sein Bett aus Basalt ist noch in der Ammoniterstadt Rabba zu sehen. Nach gewöhnlicher Elle war es neun Ellen lang und vier breit.

(For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Rephaim. Behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron. Isn’t it in Rabbah of the children of Ammon? Nine cubits was its length, and four cubits its width, after the cubit of a man.)

12 Dieses Land haben wir damals uns zu eigen gemacht. Von Aroër am Ufer des Arnonflusses habe ich es nebst dem halben Gebirge Gilead und seinen Städten den Rubeniten und Gaditen verliehen.

This land we took in possession at that time: from Aroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilead with its cities, I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites;

13 Dem Halbstamm Manasse aber habe ich den Rest von Gilead und ganz Basan, Ogs Königreich, verliehen. Der ganze Argobbezirk samt ganz Basan heißt Rephaiterland.

and the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh—all the region of Argob, even all Bashan. (The same is called the land of Rephaim.

14 Jair, Manasses Sohn, hatte den ganzen Argobbezirk bis zum Gebiet der Gesuriter und Maakatiter erobert, und man nannte Basan nach seinem Namen "Jairs Dörfer" bis auf diesen Tag.

Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob, to the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called them, even Bashan, after his own name, Havvoth Jair, to this day.)

15 Dem Makir habe ich Gilead verliehen.

I gave Gilead to Machir.

16 Den Rubeniten und den Gaditen habe ich von Gilead bis zum Arnonfluß, den Fluß selbst und das Uferland bis an den Jabbokfluß, die Grenze der Ammoniter, verliehen,

To the Reubenites and to the Gadites I gave from Gilead even to the valley of the Arnon, the middle of the valley, and its border, even to the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

17 ferner die Steppe mit dem Jordan und seinem Uferland vom See Genesareth bis zum Meer der Steppe, dem Salzmeer, am Fuß der Abhänge des Pisga.

the Arabah also, and the Jordan and its border, from Chinnereth even to the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah eastward.

18 Damals gebot ich euch: 'Der Herr, euer Gott, gibt euch dieses Land zu eigen. Aber sturmgerüstet zieht, all ihr wehrhaften Männer, euren israelitischen Brüdern voran!

I commanded you at that time, saying, “Yahweh your God has given you this land to possess it. All of you men of valor shall pass over armed before your brothers, the children of Israel.

19 Nur eure Weiber und Kinder und euer Vieh - weiß ich doch, daß ihr viel Vieh habt - sollen in euren Städten bleiben, die ich euch gab,

But your wives, and your little ones, and your livestock, (I know that you have much livestock), shall live in your cities which I have given you,

20 bis der Herr euren Brüdern Ruhe schafft wie euch und auch sie das Land einnehmen, das ihnen der Herr, euer Gott, jenseits des Jordans gibt. Dann kehre jeder heim in seinen Besitz, den ich euch verliehen habe!'

until Yahweh gives rest to your brothers, as to you, and they also possess the land which Yahweh your God gives them beyond the Jordan. Then you shall each return to his own possession, which I have given you.”

21 Und ich habe damals Josue geboten: 'Du hast mit eigenen Augen alles gesehen, was der Herr, euer Gott, an diesen beiden Königen getan hat. Also tut der Herr mit allen Königreichen, wohin du ziehst.

I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, “Your eyes have seen all that Yahweh your God has done to these two kings. So shall Yahweh do to all the kingdoms where you go over.

22 Fürchtet sie nicht! Denn der Herr, euer Gott, streitet selbst für euch.'

You shall not fear them; for Yahweh your God himself fights for you.”

23 Ich flehte damals zum Herrn und sprach:

I begged Yahweh at that time, saying,

24 'Herr! Herr! Du hast Deinem Knechte bereits gezeigt Deine Größe und Deine starke Hand. Wo ist im Himmel und auf Erden ein Gott, der solche Werke tut und Heldentaten, wie Du?

“Lord Yahweh, you have begun to show your servant your greatness, and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or in earth that can do works like yours, and mighty acts like yours?

25 Laß mich doch hinüberziehen, damit ich schaue das schöne Land jenseits des Jordans und das schöne Gebirge und den Libanon!'

Please let me go over and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that fine mountain, and Lebanon.”

26 Aber der Herr zürnte mir euretwegen, und so hat er mich nicht erhört. Der Herr sprach zu mir: 'Genug! Rede nichts weiter zu mir in dieser Sache!

But Yahweh was angry with me because of you, and didn’t listen to me. Yahweh said to me, “That is enough! Speak no more to me of this matter.

27 Steig auf des Pisga Gipfel! Hebe deine Augen gen Westen, Norden, Süden und Osten und schaue mit deinen Augen! Denn den Jordan hier wirst du nicht überschreiten.

Go up to the top of Pisgah, and lift up your eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and see with your eyes; for you shall not go over this Jordan.

28 Bestelle Josue! Ermutige und stärke ihn! Denn er zieht vor diesem Volke voran. Und er verteilt ihnen das Land, das du schaust.'

But commission Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you shall see.”

29 So blieben wir im Tale, Bet Peor gegenüber."

So we stayed in the valley near Beth Peor.
