1 "In jedem siebten Jahre sollst du Erlaß üben!
At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts.
2 Mit dem Erlaß ist es so: Kein Gläubiger darf ein Darlehen eintreiben, das er seinem Nächsten geliehen hat. Er soll es nicht eintreiben bei seinem Nächsten und Bruder, wenn man einen Erlaß von seiten des Herrn ausruft!
This is the manner of remission: Every creditor shall cancel what he has loaned to his neighbor. He is not to collect anything from his neighbor or brother, because the LORD’s time of release has been proclaimed.
3 Beim Ausländer magst du es eintreiben. Aber was du bei deinem Bruder hast, sollst du nicht eintreiben!
You may collect something from a foreigner, but you must forgive whatever your brother owes you.
4 Wohl sollte bei dir kein Armer sein, da der Herr dich reichlich segnet in dem Lande, das dir der Herr, dein Gott, zu eignem Besitze gibt,
There will be no poor among you, however, because the LORD will surely bless you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance,
5 falls du nur der Stimme des Herrn, deines Gottes, gehorchest und darauf achtest, all diese Gebote zu tun, die ich dir heute gebiete.
if only you obey the LORD your God and are careful to follow all these commandments I am giving you today.
6 Denn der Herr, dein Gott, segnet dich, wie er dir verheißen, daß du vielen Völkern leihen kannst, selbst aber nichts entlehnen mußt, und daß du über viele Völker herrschest, über dich aber keines herrscht.
When the LORD your God blesses you as He has promised, you will lend to many nations but borrow from none; you will rule over many nations but be ruled by none.
7 Ist aber ein Armer bei dir, so sollst du nicht hartherzig sein gegen deinen Bruder in irgendeinem deiner Tore in deinem Lande, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir gibt! Verschließen sollst du nicht deine Hand vor deinem armen Bruder!
If there is a poor man among your brothers within any of the gates in the land that the LORD your God is giving you, then you are not to harden your heart or shut your hand from your poor brother.
8 Öffnen sollst du ihm deine Hand und ihm genug leihen für seinen Mangel, was ihm gebricht!
Instead, you are to open your hand to him and freely loan him whatever he needs.
9 Hüte dich, daß in deinem Herzen nicht der nichtsnutzige Gedanke entstehe: 'Das siebte Jahr, das Erlaßjahr, naht', und daß dein Auge mißgünstig sei auf deinen armen Bruder und du ihm nichts gebest! Denn sonst schreit er über dich zum Herrn, und dann ruht Sünde auf dir.
Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought in your heart: “The seventh year, the year of release, is near,” so that you look upon your poor brother begrudgingly and give him nothing. He will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of sin.
10 Geben sollst du ihm und nicht verdrießlich sein, wenn du ihm gibst! Denn um dessentwillen segnet dich der Herr, dein Gott, bei all deinem Tun und allem deinem Unternehmen!
Give generously to him, and do not let your heart be grieved when you do so. And because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything to which you put your hand.
11 Weil es nie in deinem Lande an Armen fehlt, darum gebiete ich dir also: Öffnen sollst du deine Hand deinem Bruder, dem Dürftigen und Armen in deinem Lande!
For there will never cease to be poor in the land; that is why I am commanding you to open wide your hand to your brother and to the poor and needy in your land.
12 Verkauft sich dir einer deiner Brüder, Hebräer oder Hebräerin, diene er dir sechs Jahre! Im siebten Jahre sollst du ihn freilassen!
If a fellow Hebrew, a man or a woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you must set him free.
13 Und läßt du ihn frei, dann darfst du ihn nicht leer ziehen lassen.
And when you release him, do not send him away empty-handed.
14 Geben sollst du ihm gehörig von deinem Obst, deiner Tenne und deiner Kelter, womit dich der Herr, dein Gott, gesegnet hat! Davon sollst du ihm geben!
You are to furnish him liberally from your flock, your threshing floor, and your winepress. You shall give to him as the LORD your God has blessed you.
15 Gedenke, daß du Sklave gewesen im Ägypterlande und daß dich der Herr, dein Gott, befreit hat! Darum gebiete ich dir heute solches.
Remember that you were slaves in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you; that is why I am giving you this command today.
16 Sagt er aber zu dir: 'Ich gehe nicht von dir', da er dich und dein Haus liebt, weil ihm bei dir wohl ist,
But if your servant says to you, ‘I do not want to leave you,’ because he loves you and your household and is well off with you,
17 dann nimm den Pfriemen und durchbohre ihm sein Ohr an der Tür! So wird er für immer dein Knecht! So sollst du auch mit deiner Magd tun!
then take an awl and pierce it through his ear into the door, and he will become your servant for life. And treat your maidservant the same way.
18 Nicht schwer soll es dir fallen, wenn du ihn freiläßt! Denn er hat dir sechs Jahre ohne Taglöhners Lohn gedient. Dann segnet dich der Herr, dein Gott, in allem, was du tust.
Do not regard it as a hardship to set your servant free, because his six years of service were worth twice the wages of a hired hand. And the LORD your God will bless you in all you do.
19 Jeden männlichen Erstlingswurf unter deinen Rindern und Schafen sollst du dem Herrn, deinem Gott, weihen! Du sollst nicht mit dem Erstlingswurf deiner Rinder arbeiten und nicht den deiner Schafe scheren!
You must set apart to the LORD your God every firstborn male produced by your herds and flocks. You are not to put the firstborn of your oxen to work, nor are you to shear the firstborn of your flock.
20 An der vom Herrn erwählten Stätte sollst du sie Jahr für Jahr mit deinem Hause essen vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott!
Each year you and your household are to eat it before the LORD your God in the place the LORD will choose.
21 Sind sie aber bemakelt, sind sie lahm oder blind oder haben sie sonst einen schlimmen Makel, so darfst du sie nicht dem Herrn, deinem Gott, opfern.
But if an animal has a defect, is lame or blind, or has any serious flaw, you must not sacrifice it to the LORD your God.
22 In deinen Toren darfst du solche essen, ob du unrein oder rein bist, wie Reh und Hirsch.
Eat it within your gates; both the ceremonially unclean and clean may eat it as they would a gazelle or a deer.
23 Nur ihr Blut darfst du nicht genießen. Du sollst es auf die Erde wie Wasser gießen!"
But you must not eat the blood; pour it on the ground like water.
