5 Mose 10

1 "Damals sprach der Herr zu mir: 'Haue dir zwei Steintafeln aus wie die ersten, und steige zu mir auf den Berg! Auch mach dir einen Schrein von Holz!

At that time the Lord said to me: Hew thee two tables of stone like the former, and come up to me into the mount: and thou shalt make an ark of mood,

2 Ich will auf die Tafeln die Worte schreiben, die auf den ersten Tafeln gestanden, die du zerbrochen hast. Lege sie in die Lade!'

And I will write on the tables the words that were in them, which thou brokest before, and thou shalt put them in the ark.

3 Da machte ich eine Lade aus Akazienholz und hieb zwei Steintafeln aus, wie die ersten. Dann stieg ich auf den Berg, die beiden Tafeln in der Hand.

And I made an ark of setim wood And when I had hewn two tables of stone like the former, I went up into the mount, having them in my hands.

4 Da schrieb er in der gleichen Schrift wie zuvor auf die Tafeln die Zehn Worte, die er am Versammlungstag auf dem Berg aus dem Feuer zu euch geredet.

And he wrote in the tables, according as he had written before, the ten words, which the Lord spoke to you in the mount from the midst of the fire, when the people were assembled: and he gave them to me.

5 Dann gab sie mir der Herr. Ich wandte mich und stieg vom Berg herab und legte die Tafeln in die Lade, die ich gemacht hatte. Sie blieben darin, wie mir der Herr befohlen hatte.

And returning from the mount, I came down, and put the tables into the ark, that I had made, and they are there till this present, as the Lord commanded me.

6 Die Israeliten waren nun von den Brunnen der Söhne Jaakan nach Mosera gezogen; dort starb Aaron und ward dort begraben. An seiner Statt ward sein Sohn Eleazar Priester.

And the children of Israel removed their camp from Beroth of the children of Jacan into Mosera, where Aaron died and was buried, and Eleazar his son succeeded him in the priestly office.

7 Von da zogen sie nach Gudgoda, von Gudgoda nach Jotba, einer Gegend mit Wasserbächen.

From thence they came to Gadgad, from which place they departed, and camped in Jetebatha, in a land of waters and torrents.

8 Damals schied der Herr den Stamm Levi aus, die Bundeslade des Herrn zu tragen, vor dem Herrn zu stehen, ihm zu amten und mit seinem Namen zu segnen, bis auf diesen Tag.

At that time he separated the tribe of Levi, to carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to stand before him in the ministry, and to bless in his name until this present day.

9 Darum ward Levi kein Besitzteil unter seinen Brüdern. Der Herr ist sein Erbgut, wie der Herr, dein Gott, ihm verheißen.

Wherefore Levi hath no part nor possession with his brethren: because the Lord himself is his possession, as the Lord thy God promised him.

10 Ich aber bin wie zuvor vierzig Tage und Nächte auf dem Berge geblieben. Und der Herr erhörte mich auch diesmal. Der Herr hatte dich nicht vernichten wollen.

And I stood in the mount, as before, forty days and nights: and the Lord heard me this time also, and would not destroy thee.

11 Und der Herr sprach zu mir: 'Auf! Geh vor dem Volke her, daß sie das Land einnehmen, das ich ihren Vätern zugeschworen habe!'

And he said to me: Go, and walk before the people, that they may enter, and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers that I would give them.

12 Nun, Israel! Weshalb fordert der Herr, dein Gott, von dir, daß du den Herrn, deinen Gott, fürchtest und immerdar auf seinen Wegen wandelst, daß du ihn liebst und dem Herrn, deinem Gott, von ganzem Herzen und aus ganzer Seele dienst,

And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but that thou fear the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways, and love him, and serve the Lord thy God, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul:

13 daß du des Herrn Gesetze und Gebote befolgst, die ich dir heute gebe? Doch nur zu deinem Besten!

And keep the commandments of the Lord, and his ceremonies, which I command thee this day, that it may be well with thee?

14 Des Herrn, deines Gottes, sind die Himmel und die Himmel der Himmel und die Erde und alles, was darauf ist.

Behold heaven is the Lord’s thy God, and the heaven of heaven, the earth and all things that are therein.

15 Aber nur zu deinen Vätern allein hat sich der Herr in Liebe geneigt und euch, ihre Nachkommen, aus allen Völkern erkoren, wie es jetzt ist.

And yet the Lord hath been closely joined to thy fathers, and loved them and chose their seed after them, that is to say, you, out of all nations, as this day it is proved.

16 So beschneidet die Vorhaut eures Herzens und seid nicht ferner halsstarrig!

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and stiffen your neck no more.

17 Denn der Herr, euer Gott, ist der Götter Gott und der Herr der Herren, der große, mächtige und furchtbare Gott, der kein Ansehen kennt und keine Bestechung nimmt,

Because the Lord your God he is the God of gods, and the Lord of lords, a great God and mighty and terrible, a who accepteth no person nor taketh bribes.

18 der Recht den Waisen und Witwen schafft und den Fremdling liebt und ihm Brot und Gewandung spendet.

He doth judgment to the fatherless and the widow, loveth the stranger, and giveth him food and raiment.

19 Liebet also den Fremdling! Denn ihr seid Fremdlinge im Ägypterland gewesen.

And do you therefore love strangers, because you also were strangers in the land of Egypt.

20 Den Herrn, deinen Gott, sollst du fürchten! Ihm sollst du dienen! An ihm sollst du hängen und mit seinem Namen schwören

Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him only: to him thou shalt adhere, and shalt swear by his name.

21 Er ist dein Ruhm. Er ist dein Gott, der an dir jenes Große und Furchtbare getan, das du mit eigenen Augen gesehen.

He is thy praise, and thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thy eyes have seen.

22 In der Zahl von siebzig Seelen sind deine Väter nach Ägypten gezogen, und jetzt hat dich der Herr, dein Gott, an Menge gleich gemacht den Sternen des Himmels."

In seventy souls thy fathers went down into Egypt: and behold now the Lord thy God hath multiplied thee as the stars of heaven.
