Daniel 5
1 Der König Belsazar gab seinen Edlen, tausend an der Zahl, ein großes Mahl. Soviel wie diese Tausend trank er Wein.
Belshazzar king [the] to make feast great to/for noble his thousand and to/for before thousand [the] wine [the] to drink
2 Als Belsazar betrunken war, befahl er, jene goldenen und silbernen Gefäße, die aus dem Tempel zu Jerusalem sein Vater, der König Nebukadrezar, weggeschleppt, herbeizubringen, damit daraus der König und die Edlen, die Gemahlinnen und seine Nebenweiber tränken.

3 Da wurden hergebracht die goldenen Gefäße, die aus dem Tempel Gottes zu Jerusalem genommen waren. Daraus nun trank der König, seine Edlen, die Gemahlinnen und Nebenweiber.

4 Sie tranken Wein und lobten ihre Götter, die von Gold und Silber, Erz und Eisen, Stein und Holz gefertigt waren.
to drink wine [the] and to praise to/for god gold [the] and silver [the] bronze [the] iron [the] wood [the] and stone [the]
5 Im selben Augenblick erschienen Finger einer Menschenhand dem Leuchter gegenüber auf dem Kalk des Königsschlosses. Der König aber sah die Hand, die schrieb.

6 Da ward des Königs Angesicht entstellt, und seine Ahnungen verwirrten ihn, und seine Hüftgelenke schlotterten, und seine Kniee schlugen aneinander.

7 Dann rief der König laut, man solle doch die Zauberer, Chaldäer, Zeichendeuter holen. Dann hob der König an und sagte zu den Weisen Babels: "Wer immer diese Schrift da lesen kann und mir zu sagen weiß, was sie bedeutet, der wird mit Purpur angetan, darf an dem Halse eine goldene Kette tragen und soll in meinem Königreich der dritte sein!"

8 Auf dies hin kamen alle königlichen Weisen her. Doch konnten sie die Schrift nicht lesen, noch weniger dem König eine Deutung geben.

9 Da ward der König Belsazar aufs heftigste bestürzt; sein Angesicht entfärbte sich; auch seine Edlen waren ganz verstört.
then king [the] Belshazzar greatly to dismay and splendor his to change since him and noble his be perplexed
10 Da trat die Königin, durch das bewogen, was dem König und den Edlen widerfahren, in das Gebäude, wo das Gastmahl war. Die Königin hob an und sprach: "O König, mögst du ewig leben! Es mögen deine Ahnungen dich nicht verstören! Nicht verfärbe sich dein Angesicht!

11 In deinem Reiche gibt es einen Mann, der in sich trägt den Geist der heiligen Götter, bei dem in deines Vaters Tagen Einsicht und Verstand und Weisheit gefunden ward, der Götterweisheit nahezu entsprechend; hat doch König Nebukadrezar, dein Vater, diesen eingesetzt zum Obersten der Zauberer, Beschwörer, Chaldäer und der Zeichendeuter, dein eigner Vater, König,
there is man in/on/with kingdom your that spirit god holy in/on/with him and in/on/with day father your illumination and insight and wisdom like/as wisdom god to find in/on/with him and king [the] Nebuchadnezzar father your great magician enchanter Chaldean to determine to stand: establish him father your king [the]
12 weil ein hoher Geist und Klugheit und Verständnis, Traumdeutung und Enthüllung von Geheimnissen, Aufklärung dunkler Sachen bei Daniel zu finden war, den Baltasar der König zubenannt. Man rufe also Daniel! Er wird die Deutung geben."

13 Da wurde Daniel dem König zugeführt. Da hob der König an und sprach zu Daniel: "Bist du der Daniel, der zu den jüdischen Gefangenen gehört, die einst mein königlicher Vater aus Judäa hergebracht?

14 Von dir hab ich gehört, daß du den Geist der Götter in dir trägst, daß Einsicht und Verständnis, Weisheit bei dir in hohem Maße gefunden ward.
and to hear (since you *Q(k)*) that spirit god in/on/with you and illumination and insight and wisdom preeminent to find in/on/with you
15 Soeben sind vor mir die weisen Zauberer erschienen, um diese Schrift zu lesen, ihre Deutung mir zu geben. Doch konnten sie mir keinen Aufschluß über diese Sache geben.

16 Da hörte ich von dir, du könntest Dunkles aufklären und Schweres aufhellen. Bist du nun wirklich in der Lage, diese Schrift zu lesen, ihre Deutung mir zu geben, so erhältst du auch ein Purpurkleid, darfst du am Halse eine goldene Kette tragen und sollst der dritte Fürst in meinem Reiche sein."

17 Darauf sprach vor dem König Daniel: "Behalte dein Geschenk für dich und deine Gaben schenke einem andern! Die Schrift jedoch will ich dem König lesen und auch ihre Deutung geben.

18 Du, König! Der höchste Gott gab Königtum und Königswürde und Ruhm und Ehre deinem Vater, dem Nebukadrezar.
(you *Q(k)*) king [the] god [the] (Most High [the] *Q(k)*) kingdom [the] and greatness [the] and honor [the] and honor [the] to give to/for Nebuchadnezzar father your
19 Und ob der Herrschergröße, die er ihm gab, erzitterten vor ihm und bebten alle Völker, Stämme, Zungen. Er konnte töten, wen er wollte, am Leben den erhalten, den er wollte, erhöhen, wen er wollte, und erniedrigen, wen er nur wollte.
and from greatness [the] that to give to/for him all people [the] people [the] and tongue [the] to be (to tremble *Q(k)*) and to fear from before him that to be to will to be to slay and that to be to will to be to live and that to be to will to be to rise and that to be to will to be be low
20 Als aber stolz sein Herz geworden war und bis zum Übermute sich sein Geist verhärtet, ward er von seinem königlichen Thron gestürzt und ihm sein Ruhm genommen.

21 Und aus der Menschheit ward er ausgestoßen und sein Herz Tierherzen gleich gemacht. Er mußte bei den wilden Eseln hausen und wie die Rinder Gras verzehren. Vom Tau des Himmels ward sein Leib benetzt, bis daß er zur Erkenntnis kam, daß nur der Höchste Macht hat über das Königtum der Menschen und, wen er will, darüber setzen kann.

22 Du, Belsazar, sein Sohn, hast gleichfalls nicht dein Herz gedemütigt, obschon du alles dies gewußt.
(and you *Q(k)*) son his Belshazzar not be low heart your like/as to/for before: because that all this to know
23 Vielmehr erhobst du dich gegen den Herrn des Himmels. Man hat aus seinem Hause die Gefäße vor dich hergebracht, und du und deine Edlen, die Gemahlinnen und deine Nebenweiber, ihr habt aus ihnen Wein getrunken. Du priesest auch die Götter, die aus Gold und Silber, aus Erz und Eisen, Holz und Stein gefertigt sind, obschon sie doch nicht sehen, hören, fühlen können. Dagegen diesen Gott, der deinen Odem hat in seiner Hand samt allen deinen Wegen, den hast du nicht geehrt.

24 So ward denn eine Hand von ihm gesandt, und so ward diese Schrift hier aufgezeichnet.

25 So heißt die Schrift denn, die hier steht geschrieben: 'Mene, mene, Tekel, Pharsin.'
and this inscription [the] that to sign mina mina shekel and half
26 Und es bedeuten diese Worte: Mene: Gezählt hat Gott dein Königtum und ihm ein Ende zubestimmt.
this interpretation word [the] mina to reckon/appoint god [the] kingdom your and be complete her
27 Tekel: Gewogen wardst du auf der Waage und zu leicht befunden.
shekel to weigh in/on/with scale [the] and to find lacking
28 Pharsin: Es wird dein Reich geteilt und wird den Medern und den Persern übergeben."

29 Da wurde Daniel auf den Befehl des Belsazar mit Purpur angetan und seinem Halse eine goldene Kette umgelegt; dann riefen über ihn sie aus, daß er als Dritter in dem Reiche herrschen werde.
in/on/with then to say Belshazzar and to clothe to/for Daniel purple [the] (and chain [the] *Q(k)*) that gold [the] since neck his and to proclaim since him that to be ruling third [the] in/on/with kingdom [the]
30 Noch in derselben Nacht ward Belsazar, der König der Chaldäer, umgebracht.
in/on/with him in/on/with night [the] to slay Belshazzar king [the] (Chaldean [the] *Q(k)*)
31 Der medische Darius folgte in der Herrschaft nach, schon zweiundsechzig Jahre alt.
and Darius (Mede [the] *Q(K)*) to receive kingdom [the] like/as son year sixty and two
