Amos 5
1 Hört dieses Wort, das ich anhebe über euch, ein Trauerlied um das Haus Israel!
Hear ye this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel.
2 Es fällt die Jungfrau Israel, steht nicht mehr auf. Sie liegt auf ihrem eignen Boden hingestreckt, und keiner hilft ihr auf.
The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is cast down upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
3 Denn also spricht der Herr, der Herr: "Die Stadt, die einst mit tausend ist ins Feld gezogen, behält nur hundert übrig, die hundert einst gestellt, wird zehn nur übrighaben im Hause Israel." -
For thus saith the Lord GOD: The city that went forth a thousand shall have an hundred left, and that which went forth an hundred shall have ten left, to the house of Israel.
4 So spricht der Herr vom Hause Israel: "Kommt, sucht mich auf, daß ihr am Leben bleibet!"
For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:
5 Besucht nicht Betel! Wallfahrt nicht nach Gilgal! Denn Gilgal schwindet; in nichts sinkt Betel."
but seek not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth-el shall come to nought.
6 Den Herrn sucht auf, daß ihr am Leben bleibt! Sonst kommt in Josephs Haus das Feuer und zehrt es auf, und niemand könnte Betels Flammen löschen. -
Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour and there be none to quench it in Beth-el:
7 Weh denen, die das Recht in Wermut wandeln und die Gerechtigkeit zu Boden werfen!
Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth;
8 Er ist's, der die Plejaden schuf und den Orion, und wie er Finsternis in Morgenlicht verwandelt, dunkelt er den Tag in Nacht. Er ruft des Meeres Wasser her und gießt sie auf die Erde. Sein Name ist "Der Herr".
[seek him] that maketh the Pleiades and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth; the LORD is his name;
9 Vernichtung bringt er starken Plätzen; als Verwüstung kommt er für die Festungen.
that bringeth sudden destruction upon the strong, so that destruction cometh upon the fortress.
10 Sie hassen den, der vor Gericht Beweise bringt, verabscheun Fürsprecher der Schuldlosen.
They hate him that reproveth in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
11 "Darum, weil ihr auf den Geringen mit Verachtung schaut, doch Kornabgaben von ihm nehmt, drum sollt ihr, mögt ihr auch aus Quadern Häuser bauen, sie dennoch nie bewohnen und, mögt ihr auch die herrlichsten Weingärten pflanzen, dennoch ihren Wein nicht trinken. -
Forasmuch therefore as ye trample upon the poor, and take exactions from him of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink the wine thereof.
12 Ja, eure vielen Frevel sind mit wohlbekannt und eurer Missetaten Menge; Schuldlose drücket ihr und nehmt Bestechung an und raubt den Armen vor Gericht ihr Recht."
For I know how manifold are your transgressions, and how mighty are your sins; ye that afflict the just, that take a bribe, and that turn aside the needy in the gate [from their right].
13 Deswegen schweigt die Weissagung in jener Zeit; denn eine schlimme Zeit ist es. -
Therefore he that is prudent shall keep silence in such a time; for it is an evil time.
14 Dem Guten strebet nach und nicht dem Bösen, daß ihr am Leben bleibt, damit alsdann der Herr, der Heeresscharen Gott, mit euch so sei, wie ihr's euch wünschet!
Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye say.
15 Das Böse hasset, liebt das Gute! Verschafft dem Rechte bei Gerichte Geltung! Vielleicht ist dann der Herr der Gott der Heerscharen, dem Reste Josephs gnädig.
Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
16 Darum spricht so der Herr der Gott der Heerscharen, der Herr: "Auf allen Plätzen Weheklage! In allen Gassen schreit man Wehe, Wehe!' Zur Trauer ruft man Sänger auf, zur Weheklage, die der Totenlieder kundig.
Therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord: Wailing shall be in all the broad ways; and they shall say in all the streets, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.
17 Auf allen Lagern Traurigkeit, wenn ich durch deine Mitte ziehe", spricht der Herr. -
And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
18 Weh denen, die den Tag des Herrn sich wünschen! Wozu soll auch der Tag des Herrn nur dienen? Er ist ja Finsternis, nicht Licht.
Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! wherefore would ye have the day of the LORD? it is darkness, and not light.
19 Wie einer sich vor einem Löwen retten will und stößt auf einen Bären, tritt er ins Haus und stützt sich an die Wand mit seiner Hand, da sticht ihn eine Schlange,
As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
20 ist nicht geradeso der Tag des Herrn von Unheil schwarz, von keinem Strahl erhellt, nur Dunkel, ohne Morgenstrahl? -
Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
21 "Ich hasse und verwerfe eure Feste und achte nicht auf eure Feiertage.
I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will take no delight in your solemn assemblies.
22 Wenn ihr mir Brand- und Speiseopfer bringt, so hab' ich kein Gefallen daran. Nach euren fetten Bundesopfern mag ich gar nicht blicken.
Yea, though ye offer me your burnt offerings and meal offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
23 Hinweg von mir mit dem Gelärme deiner Lieder! Dein Harfenspiel mag ich nicht hören.
Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.
24 Zur Spende werde Recht wie Wasser ausgegossen, Gerechtigkeit wie Ströme Weins!
But let judgment roll down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
25 Habt ihr mir Schlacht- und Speiseopfer dargebracht, Haus Israel, einst in der Wüste vierzig Jahre,
Did ye bring unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
26 und habt ihr eures Königs Zelt umhergetragen und eures Gottes Sternbildsäule, die ihr euch angefertigt habt?
Yea, ye have borne Siccuth your king and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
27 Darum verschleppe ich euch weiter weg als nach Damaskus." So spricht der Herr; sein Name ist: "Der Gott der Heerscharen".
Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is the God of hosts.
