2 Koenige 13

1 Im dreiundzwanzigsten Jahre des Judakönigs Joas, des Achazjasohnes, ward Joachaz, Jehus Sohn, König über Israel zu Samaria für siebzehn Jahre.

In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Achazyahu the king of Judah became Jehoachaz the son of Jehu king over Israel in Samaria [for] seventeen years.

2 Er tat, was dem Herrn mißfiel, und folgte des Nebatsohnes Jeroboam Sünden, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte. Er ließ nicht davon.

And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, and followed the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, who induced Israel to sin: he departed not therefrom.

3 Da entbrannte des Herrn Zorn über Israel, und er gab sie in die Hand des Aramkönigs Chazael und in die des Chazaelsohnes Hadad für lange Zeit.

And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel; and he gave them up into the hand of Chazael the king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Chazael, all the time.

4 Aber Joachaz begütigte den Herrn. Und der Herr erhörte ihn. Denn er hatte Israels Bedrückung gesehen, wie es der König von Aram drückte.

And Jehoachaz besought the Lord; and the Lord hearkened unto him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them.

5 Da gab der Herr Israel einen Retter. Und sie entzogen sich Arams Gewalt. So wohnten Israels Söhne wie vorlängst in ihren Zelten.

(And the Lord gave Israel a deliverer, so that they came out from under the power of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as in times past.

6 Nur ließen sie nicht von den Sünden des Hauses Jeroboams, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte. Darin wandelten sie, und auch die Aschera blieb in Samaria.

Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jerobo'am, who induced Israel to sin, therein the people walked: and the Asherah also remained standing in Samaria.)

7 Denn er ließ dem Joachaz nicht mehr Kriegsvolk als fünfzig Reiter, zehn Wagen und 10.000 Mann Fußtruppen. Arams König nämlich hatte sie vernichtet und dem Staube beim Dreschen gleichgemacht.

For he had left of people to Jehoachaz none but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand men on foot; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust at threshing.

8 Ist nicht der Rest der Geschichte des Joachaz und alles, was er sonst getan, sowie seine Tapferkeit im Geschichtsbuche der Könige Israels aufgezeichnet?

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoachaz, and all that he did, and his mighty deeds, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

9 Als sich Joachaz zu seinen Vätern legte, begrub man ihn zu Samaria, und sein Sohn Joas ward an seiner Statt König.

And Jehoachaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son became king in his stead.

10 Im siebenunddreißigsten Jahre des Judakönigs Joas ward Joachaz Sohn Joas König über Israel in Samaria für sechzehn Jahre.

In the thirty and seventh year of Joash the king of Judah became Jehoash the son of Jehoachaz king over Israel in Samaria, [for] sixteen years.

11 Er tat, was dem Herrn mißfiel. Er ließ in seinem Wandel nicht von des Nebatsohnes Jeroboam Sünden, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte.

And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord; he departed not from all the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, who induced Israel to sin: therein he walked.

12 Ist nicht der Rest der Geschichte des Joas und alles, was er sonst getan, sowie seine Tapferkeit, wie er mit Judas König, Amasja, Krieg führte, im Geschichtsbuche der Könige Israels aufgezeichnet?

And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his mighty deeds wherewith he fought against Amazyah the king of Judah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

13 Als sich Joas zu seinen Vätern legte, bestieg Jeroboam seinen Thron. Joas ward bei den Königen Israels zu Samaria begraben.

And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jerobo'am sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

14 Elisäus aber verfiel in eine Krankheit, an der er sterben sollte. Da kam Israels König, Joas, zu ihm hinab, weinte über ihn und sprach: "Mein Vater! Mein Vater! Israels Wagen und Reiter!"

Now Elisha' was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he had to die. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and their horsemen.

15 Da sprach Elisäus zu ihm: "Hol Bogen und Pfeile!" Da holte er ihm Bogen und Pfeile.

And Elisha' said unto him, Fetch a bow and arrows. And he fetched unto him a bow and arrows.

16 Da sprach er zum König von Israel: "Spanne den Bogen mit deiner Hand!" Er spannte ihn, und Elisäus legte seine Hände auf die Hände des Königs.

And he said to the king of Israel, Place thy hand upon the bow. And he placed his hand [upon it]: and Elisha' laid his hands upon the king's hands.

17 Dann sprach er: "Öffne das Fenster nach Osten!" Er öffnete es. Da sprach Elisäus: "Schieße!" Da schoß er. Er sprach: "Ein Pfeil des Sieges vom Herrn! Ein Siegespfeil gegen Aram! Du wirst Aram wie zu Aphek vernichtend schlagen."

And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then said Elisha', Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of victory from the Lord, and the arrow of victory over Syria; and thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till they be consumed.

18 Dann sprach er: "Nimm die Pfeile!" Er nahm sie. Dann sprach er zu Israels König: "Schlage auf den Boden!" Da schlug er dreimal. Darauf hielt er inne.

And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Strike upon the ground. And he struck three times, and stopped.

19 Da zürnte der Gottesmann über ihn und sprach: "Bei fünf- oder sechsmaligem Schlagen hättest du Aram vernichtend geschlagen. Nun schlägst du den Aram nur dreimal."

And the man of God was angry with him, and said, Thou shouldst have struck five or six times; then wouldst thou have smitten the Syrians till they had been consumed: whereas now thou shalt smite the Syrians three times.

20 Elisäus starb, und man begrub ihn. Nun fielen moabitische Streifscharen in einem Jahre in das Land ein.

And Elisha' died, and they buried him. And the predatory bands of Moabites frequently invaded the land at the coming in of the year.

21 Eben wollte man einen Mann begraben, als man die Streifschar erblickte. Da warfen sie den Mann in des Elisäus Grab und gingen davon. Sobald aber der Mann die Gebeine des Elisäus berührte, ward er lebendig und stellte sich auf seine Füße.

And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they saw the band; and they cast down the man into the sepulchre of Elisha': and as the man came, and touched the bones of Elisha', he revived, and rose up on his feet.

22 Arams König Chazael bedrängte Israel alle Tage des Joachaz.

But Chazael the king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoachaz.

23 Der Herr aber war ihnen gnädig und erbarmte sich ihrer. Er wandte sich ihnen zu, wegen seines Bundes mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob. Er wollte nicht ihr Verderben und verwarf sie noch nicht von seinem Antlitz.

And the Lord became gracious unto them, and had mercy on them, and turned his regard unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, and he cast them not off from his presence even until now.

24 Chazael, Arams König, starb, und sein Sohn Benhadad ward an seiner Statt König.

And Chazael the king of Syria died: and Ben-hadad his son became king in his stead.

25 Da entriß des Joachaz Sohn Joas dem Benhadad, Chazaels Sohn, wieder die Städte, die jener seinem Vater Joachaz im Krieg entrissen hatte. Dreimal schlug ihn Joas und gewann Israels Städte wieder zurück.

And Jehoash the son of Jehoachaz took again the cities out of the power of Ben-hadad the son of Chazael, which he had taken out of the power of Jehoachaz his father in the war. Three times did Joash beat him, and he recovered the cities of Israel.
