2 Korinther 8

1 Wir geben euch, liebe Brüder, Kunde von der Gottesgabe, die in den mazedonischen Gemeinden abgeliefert worden ist.

And, my brethren, we make known to you the grace of God which was conferred on the churches of the Macedonians;

2 In Trübsal reichlich erprobt, hat sich aus der Fülle ihrer Freude und aus der Tiefe ihrer Armut ein reicher Strom zum Reichtum ihrer opferfrohen Gäste ergossen.

that in the great trial of their affliction, there was an abounding to their joy, and the depth of their poverty was exuberant in the riches of their liberality.

3 Nach Vermögen, ja, ich kann es bezeugen, über ihr Vermögen,

For I testify that, according to their ability, and beyond their ability, in the spontaneity of their mind,

4 so baten sie uns flehentlich von sich aus, sich an den Liebesgaben beteiligen zu dürfen und am Dienste für die Heiligen.

they besought us, with much entreaty, that they might participate in the beneficence of the ministration to the saints.

5 Nicht bloß so, wie wir gehofft hatten, sie gaben vielmehr sich selber zuerst dem Herrn und dann auch uns nach Gottes Willen.

And not only as we had expected, but they first gave themselves unto the Lord, and to us by the will of God.

6 Infolgedessen baten wir den Titus, er möge so, wie er begonnen hat, bei euch auch dieses Liebeswerk vollenden.

So that we requested Titus, that as he had begun, so he would perfect in you also the same beneficence.

7 Wie ihr in jeder Art euch auszeichnet: im Glauben und im Wort, in der Erkenntnis und in jedem Eifer und auch in der von uns in euch geweckten Liebe, so zeichnet euch auch in diesem Liebeswerk aus.

And as ye are enriched in every thing, in faith, and speech, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in our love towards you, so abound ye in this beneficence also.

8 Nicht als ob ich euch befehlen wollte, sage ich dies; ich möchte am Eifer anderer nur die Echtheit eurer Liebe prüfen.

I do not actually command you, but by the promptitude of your fellow disciples, I would test the sincerity of your love.

9 Ihr kennt ja die Liebe unseres Herrn Jesus Christus; obgleich er reich war, ward er euretwegen arm, damit ihr durch seine Armut reich würdet.

For ye know the goodness of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, who when he was rich, for your sakes became poor, that by his poverty ye might be made rich.

10 Nur einen Rat möchte ich in dieser Sache geben. Das ist für euch von Nutzen, die ihr nicht allein mit der Ausführung, vielmehr auch mit dem rechten Wollen letztes Jahr begonnen habt.

And I urgently recommend to you, that which is for your advantage; inasmuch as ye began, a year ago, not only to purpose, but also to perform.

11 Führt es jetzt vollends durch, damit wie eure Bereitschaft für das Wollen so auch die Ausführung dem Vermögen entspreche.

And now complete ye by action, what ye purposed; that as ye had a promptitude in your purposing, so ye may fulfill it in action, according to your ability.

12 Denn ist der gute Wille da, so ist er Gott gefällig schon nach dem, was er besitzt, und nicht nach dem, was er nicht hat.

For if there is a willingness, a person is accepted according to what he hath, and not according to what he hath not.

13 Es soll nicht anderen Erleichterung geschaffen werden, euch aber nur Bedrängnis; vielmehr um einen Ausgleich herzustellen,

For it is not, that others may have easement, and you pressure;

14 Soll jetzt euer Überfluß dem Mangel jener zukommen, damit auch der Überfluß von jenen eurem Mangel abhelfe. So soll ein Ausgleich stattfinden,

but that ye may be on equality at the present time; and that your abundance may be a supply to their want; that their abundance likewise may be a supply to your want; that there may be equality.

15 so wie geschrieben steht: "Wer viel sammelte, der hatte keinen Überfluß, und wer nur wenig sammelte, hatte keine Not."

As it is written, He who gathered much, had nothing over; and he that gathered little, was not deficient.

16 Doch Dank sei Gott, der dem Titus den gleichen Eifer für euch ins Herz gegeben hat.

But thanks be to God, who put into the heart of Titus this solicitude for you.

17 Er nahm meine Bitte an und reiste voll Eifer aus eigenem Antrieb zu euch.

For he received our exhortation; and, because he was very anxious, he cheerfully set out to visit you.

18 Mit diesem senden wir den Bruder, dessen Lob im Evangelium durch alle Gemeinden geht.

And we also sent with him that our brother, whose praise in the gospel is in all the churches;

19 Doch nicht nur dies; er ward von den Gemeinden auch zu unserem Begleiter für dieses Liebeswerk bestellt, das wir unternehmen zur Ehre des Herrn und zum Beweise unseres guten Willens.

inasmuch as he likewise had been expressly chosen by the churches, to accompany me with this beneficence which is ministered by us to the glory of God and to our cordiality.

20 Wir möchten nämlich verhüten, daß bei der Fülle dieser Gaben, die wir besorgen, uns jemand übel nachrede.

And we hereby guarded, that no one should cast censure on us, in respect to this abundance which is ministered by us.

21 Denn wir sind auf das bedacht, was recht ist nicht bloß vor dem Herrn, sondern auch vor den Menschen. Mit ihm senden wir auch unseren Bruder,

For we are attentive to things commendable, not only before God, but also before men.

22 den wir in vielen Angelegenheiten oftmals eifrig fanden, der aber jetzt, da er soviel auf euch vertraut, noch größeren Eifer zeigen wird.

And we also sent with them that brother of ours, who hath often, and in many things, been proved diligent by us; and is now particularly diligent, from the great confidence he hath in you.

23 Mag es sich um Titus handeln - er ist mein Gefährte, bei euch mein Mitarbeiter - oder um unsere Brüder - sie sind Abgesandte der Gemeinden, Christi Ruhm -,

And therefore, if Titus be inquired about, he is my associate and assistant among you: or if our other brethren, they are the legates of the churches of the Messiah's glory.

24 gebt ihnen die Beweise eurer Liebe und auch von der Wahrheit dessen, was wir von euch so Rühmliches vor den Gemeinden sagten.

Therefore exhibit ye to them, in the presence of all the churches, a demonstration of your love and of our glorying respecting you.
