2 Chronik 26

1 Darauf nahm das ganze Volk Juda den Uzziahu, der erst sechzehn Jahre alt war, und machte ihn zum König an seines Vaters Amasjahu Statt.

And all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.

2 Er baute Elot aus und brachte es wieder an Juda, nachdem sich der König zu seinen Vätern gelegt hatte.

He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

3 Uzziahu war sechzehn Jahre alt, als er König ward, und regierte zu Jerusalem zweiundfünfzig Jahre. Seine Mutter hieß Jekolja und war aus Jerusalem.

Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

4 Er tat, was dem Herrn gefiel, ganz wie sein Vater Amasjahu getan hatte.

And he did that, which was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

5 Er war dabei, Gott zu suchen, solange Zakarjahu lebte, der ihn in der Gottesfurcht unterwies. Solange er den Herrn suchte, gab ihm Gott Gelingen.

And he set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the vision of God; and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.

6 Er zog aus und stritt mit den Philistern. Er stürzte die Mauern von Gat, Jabne und Asdod. Jabne aber gehörte zu den Städten bei Asdod und bei den Philistern.

And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the country of Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

7 Und Gott half ihm gegen die Philister und die Araber, die zu Gurbaal wohnten, sowie gegen die Mëuniter.

And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Meunim.

8 Auch die Ammoniter zahlten Uzziahu Tribut. Sein Ruhm erstreckte sich bis nach Ägypten. Denn er war überaus mächtig geworden.

And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah; and his name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt; for he waxed exceeding strong.

9 Uzziahu baute in Jerusalem Türme auf dem Ecktor, dem Taltor und dem Winkel und befestigte sie.

Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the Turning, and fortified them.

10 Auch in der Steppe baute er Türme und grub zahlreiche Brunnen. Denn er hatte in der Niederung und Ebene große Herden und Ackerleute und Winzer auf den Bergen und im Fruchtland, weil er den Landbau liebte.

And be built towers in the wilderness, and hewed out many cisterns, for he had much cattle; in the Lowland also, and in the table-land; and he had husbandmen and vinedressers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields; for he loved husbandry.

11 Uzziahu hatte auch ein Heer, das Kriegsdienste tat und das in Scharen zu Felde zog. Ihre Musterung durch den Schreiber Jeiel und den Amtmann Maasejahu unter Aufsicht Chananjahus, eines Fürsten des Königs, geschah durch Zählung.

Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.

12 Die Gesamtzahl der Stammhäupter der tapferen Helden war 2.600.

The whole number of the heads of fathers' houses, even the mighty men of valour, was two thousand and six hundred.

13 Unter ihrem Befehl stand eine Heeresmacht von 307.500, die voller Kraft Kriegsdienste taten, um dem König gegen die Feinde zu helfen.

And under their hand was a trained army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

14 Uzzia beschaffte für das ganze Heer Schilde, Speere, Helme, Panzer, Bogen und Schleudersteine.

And Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.

15 Er machte in Jerusalem künstliche Werke, von Künstlern erdacht, daß sie auf die Türme und Zinnen kämen, um mit Pfeilen und großen Steinen zu schießen. Und sein Ruhm drang in die Ferne. Denn ihm ward wunderbar geholfen, bis er mächtig geworden war.

And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by skilful men, to be on the towers and upon the corners, wherewith to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.

16 Als er aber mächtig geworden, überhob sich sein Herz zu verderblichem Tun. Er wurde dem Herrn, seinem Gott, untreu. So kam er in den Tempel des Herrn, auf dem Räucheraltar zu räuchern.

But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against the LORD his God; for he went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

17 Da folgte ihm der Priester Azarja nebst achtzig wackeren Priestern des Herrn.

And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men;

18 Sie traten dem König Uzzia entgegen mit den Worten: "Uzzia! Dir kommt es nicht zu, dem Herrn zu räuchern, sondern nur den Priestern, Aarons Söhnen, die für das Räuchern geweiht sind. Geh aus dem Heiligtum! Denn du versündigst dich und machst dir vor dem Herrn, Gott, keine Ehre."

and they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him: 'It pertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron that are consecrated it pertaineth to burn incense; go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thy honour from the LORD God.'

19 Uzziahu aber ward zornig. Er hielt dabei ein Rauchfaß zum Räuchern in der Hand. Wie er aber auf die Priester zürnte, brach schon der Aussatz an seiner Stirn hervor, angesichts der Priester im Hause des Herrn neben dem Räucheraltar.

Then Uzziah was wroth; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy broke forth in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, beside the altar of incense.

20 Da wandten sich ihm das priesterliche Oberhaupt Azarjahu und alle anderen Priester zu. Er aber war wirklich an der Stirn aussätzig. Da trieben sie ihn schnell von dannen. Auch er selbst stürzte hinaus, da ihn der Herr geschlagen hatte.

And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out quickly from thence; yea, himself made haste also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.

21 Der König Uzzia blieb bis zu seinem Todestage aussätzig. Er wohnte als Aussätziger im Hause der Absonderung. Denn er war vom Hause des Herrn ausgeschlossen. Sein Sohn Jotam stand dem Königshause vor und sprach dem Volk des Landes Recht.

And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a house set apart, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD; and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.

22 Den Rest der Geschichte Uzzias, die frühere und die spätere, beschrieb der Prophet Isaias, des Amos Sohn.

Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.

23 Uzzia legte sich zu seinen Vätern. Man begrub ihn bei seinen Vätern auf dem Feld bei der Gruft der Könige. Denn man hatte gesagt: "Er war aussätzig." Sein Sohn Jotam ward König an seiner Statt.

So Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings; for they said: 'He is a leper'; and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
