2 Chronik 21

1 Josaphat aber legte sich zu seinen Vätern und ward in der Davidsstadt bei seinen Vätern begraben. Sein Sohn Joram ward an seiner Statt König.

Iehosphaphat then slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid: and Iehoram his sonne reigned in his steade.

2 Dieser hatte zu Brüdern die Josaphatsöhne Azarja, Jechiel, Zakarjahu, Mikael und Sephatjahu. Sie alle waren Söhne Josaphats, des Königs von Israel.

And he had brethren the sonnes of Iehoshaphat, Azariah, and Iehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah. All these were the sonnes of Iehoshaphat King of Israel.

3 Ihr Vater aber gab ihnen große Geschenke, Silber und Gold, Kleinodien nebst befestigten Städten in Juda. Aber die Königswürde verlieh er Joram. Denn dieser war der Erstgeborene.

And their father gaue them great giftes of siluer and of golde, and of precious things, with strong cities in Iudah, but the kingdome gaue he to Iehoram: for he was the eldest.

4 Joram trat nun die Herrschaft über seines Vaters Reich an. Als er sich stark fühlte, tötete er alle seine Brüder mit dem Schwerte, auch etliche der Fürsten Israels.

And Iehoram rose vp vpon the kingdom of his father, and made himselfe strong, and slew all his brethren with the sworde, and also of the princes of Israel.

5 Joram war zweiunddreißig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und regierte acht Jahre in Jerusalem.

Iehoram was two and thirtie yeere olde, when he began to reigne, and he reigned eyght yeere in Ierusalem.

6 Er wandelte auf dem Wege der Könige Israels, wie es Achabs Haus getan hatte. Denn er hatte eine Tochter Achabs zum Weib und tat, was dem Herrn mißfiel.

And he walked in the way of the Kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife, and he wrought euill in the eyes of the Lord.

7 Aber der Herr wollte nicht das Davidshaus vernichten wegen des Bundes, den er mit David geschlossen, wie er verheißen hatte, ihm und seinen Söhnen allezeit eine Leuchte zu lassen.

Howbeit the Lord would not destroy the house of Dauid, because of the couenant that he had made with Dauid, and because he had promised to giue a light to him, and to his sonnes for euer.

8 In seinen Tagen fiel Edom von Juda ab und setzte sich einen eigenen König ein.

In his dayes Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah, and made a King ouer them.

9 Da zog Joram mit seinen Obersten und mit sämtlichen Wagen hinüber. Dann stand er bei Nacht auf und schlug Edom, das ihn umzingeln wollte, samt den Führern der Streitwagen.

And Iehoram went forth with his princes, and all his charets with him: and hee rose vp by night, and smote Edom, which had compassed him in, and the captaines of the charets.

10 Dennoch fiel Edom von Juda ab bis auf diesen Tag. Zu jener Zeit fiel auch Libna von ihm ab, weil er den Herrn, seiner Väter Gott, verlassen hatte.

But Edom rebelled from vnder the hande of Iudah vnto this day. then did Libnah rebell at the same time from vnder his hand, because he had forsaken the Lord God of his fathers.

11 Auch machte er Höhen in den Städten Judas und verführte Jerusalems Einwohner zur Untreue und verleitete Juda.

Moreouer hee made hie places in the mountaines of Iudah, and caused the inhabitants of Ierusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Iudah thereto.

12 Da kam an ihn ein Schreiben vom Propheten Elias, des Inhalts: "So spricht der Herr, der Gott deines Vaters David: 'Du wandelst nimmer auf den Wegen deines Vaters Josaphat und nimmer auf des Judakönigs Asa Wegen.

And there came a writing to him from Elijah the Prophet, saying, Thus sayth the Lord God of Dauid thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the wayes of Iehoshaphat thy father, nor in the wayes of Asa King of Iudah,

13 Du gingst den Weg der Könige von Israel, und du verführtest die Bewohner Judas und Jerusalems zur Untreue, so wie das Achabhaus zur Untreue verführte; du hast auch deine Brüder, deine Angehörigen, erschlagen, die besser als du gewesen sind.

But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Iudah and the inhabitantes of Ierusalem to go a whoring, as the house of Ahab went a whoring, and hast also slaine thy brethre of thy fathers house, which were better then thou,

14 So wird der Herr dein Volk gewaltig schlagen, und deine Söhne, deine Weiber, deine ganze Habe.

Beholde, with a great plague will the Lord smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wiues, and all thy substance,

15 Du selbst verfällst in schweres Siechtum, in Krankheit deiner Eingeweide, daß dir über Jahr und Tag die Eingeweide durch die Krankheit heraustreten.'"

And thou shalt be in great diseases in the disease of thy bowels, vntill thy bowels fall out for the disease, day by day.

16 Und der Herr erregte gegen Joram die Wut der Philister und Araber, die neben den Äthiopiern wohnten.

So the Lord stirred vp against Iehoram the spirite of the Philistims, and the Arabians that were beside the Ethiopians.

17 Sie zogen gegen Juda, brachen ein und führten die ganze Habe im Königshaus weg, dazu seine Söhne und Weiber. So war ihm kein Sohn mehr übriggeblieben als der jüngste seiner Söhne, Joachaz.

And they came vp into Iudah, and brake into it, and caryed away all the substance that was found in the Kings house, and his sonnes also, and his wiues, so that there was not a sonne left him, saue Iehoahaz, the yongest of his sonnes.

18 Nach all dem strafte ihn der Herr an seinen Eingeweiden mit unheilbarer Krankheit.

And after all this, the Lord smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.

19 Nach langer Zeit, gegen Ende des Hochsommers, nach zwei Jahren, traten ihm die Eingeweide infolge seiner Krankheit heraus. Er starb unter bösen Schmerzen. Sein Volk aber veranstaltete ihm keinen Brand, wie den Brand bei seinen Vätern.

And in processe of time, euen after the end of two yeeres, his guttes fell out with his disease: so he dyed of sore diseases: and his people made no burning for him like the burning of his fathers.

20 Er war zweiunddreißig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und regierte zu Jerusalem acht Jahre. Er ging dahin, von niemand bedauert. Man begrub ihn in der Davidsstadt, aber nicht in den Königsgräbern.

When he began to reigne, he was two and thirtie yeere olde, and reigned in Ierusalem eight yeere, and liued without being desired: yet they buryed him in the citie of Dauid, but not among the sepulchres of the Kings.
