2 Chronik 16
1 Im sechsunddreißigsten Jahre Asas zog Israels König Baësa gegen Juda heran. Er baute Rama aus, um niemanden zu Judas König Asa aus- und eingehen zu lassen.
In the thirty-sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel has come up against Judah, and builds Ramah, so as not to permit any going out and coming in to Asa king of Judah.
2 Da nahm Asa Silber und Gold aus den Schatzkammern im Hause des Herrn und im Königshause und sandte es an Arams König Benhadad, der zu Damaskus wohnte, und ließ sagen:
And Asa brings out silver and gold from the treasures of the house of YHWH and of the house of the king, and sends [them] to Ben-Hadad king of Aram, who is dwelling in Damascus, saying,
3 "Ein Bund sei zwischen mir und dir, wie zwischen deinem Vater und meinem Vater! Hier sende ich dir Silber und Gold. Wohlan, brich deinen Bund mit Israels König Baësa, daß er von mir abziehe!"
“A covenant [is] between me and you, and between my father and your father, behold, I have sent silver and gold to you; go, break your covenant with Baasha king of Israel, and he goes up from off me.”
4 Und Benhadad hörte auf den König Asa und sandte seine Heeresobersten gegen Israels Städte. Sie verheerten Ijjon, Dan und Abelmaim und alle Vorratshäuser in Naphtalis Städten.
And Ben-Hadad listens to King Asa, and sends the heads of the forces that he has to cities of Israel, and they strike Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-Maim, and all the stores, cities of Naphtali.
5 Als dies Baësa vernahm, ließ er vom Ausbau Ramas und stellte seine Arbeit ein.
And it comes to pass, at Baasha’s hearing, that he ceases from building Ramah, and lets his work rest;
6 Da zog der König Asa ganz Juda heran, und sie trugen die Steine und die Balken von Rama fort, das Baësa ausgebaut hatte. Er baute damit Geba und Mispa aus.
and Asa the king has taken all Judah, and they carry away the stones of Ramah and its wood that Baasha has built [with], and he builds Geba and Mizpah with them.
7 In jener Zeit war der Seher Chanani zum Judakönige Asa gekommen, und so sprach er zu ihm: "Weil du dich auf Arams König gestützt hast und nicht auf den Herrn, deinen Gott, deswegen ist das Heer des Israelkönigs deiner Hand entronnen.
And at that time Hanani the seer has come to Asa king of Judah and says to him, “Because of your leaning on the king of Aram, and you have not leaned on your God YHWH, therefore the force of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand.
8 Sind denn die Äthiopier und Libyer nicht zahlreicher gewesen an Wagen und an Reitern? Doch weil du auf den Herrn dich gestützt, hat er sie auch in deine Hand gegeben.
Did the Cushim and the Lubim not become a very great force for multitude, for chariot, and for horsemen? And in your leaning on YHWH He gave them into your hand,
9 Die Augen des Herrn durchspähen ja die ganze Erde, um den zu festigen, dessen Herz ungeteilt für ihn ist. Du hast töricht hierin gehandelt. Von jetzt ab gibt's für dich nur Kämpfe."
for YHWH—His eyes go to and fro in all the earth, to show Himself strong [for] a people whose heart [is] perfect toward Him; you have been foolish concerning this, because from now on there are wars with you.”
10 Da zürnte Asa dem Seher und legte ihn ins Stockhaus. Denn er war ihm böse. Asa tötete auch damals etliche aus dem Volke.
And Asa is angry at the seer, and puts him [in] the house of stocks, for [he is] in a rage with him for this; and Asa oppresses [some] of the people at that time.
11 Asas Geschichte, die frühere und die spätere, ist im Buche der Könige von Juda und Israel aufgezeichnet.
And behold, the matters of Asa, the first and the last, behold, they are written on the scroll of the kings of Judah and Israel.
12 Im neununddreißigsten Regierungsjahr erkrankte Asa an den Füßen, und seine Erkrankung war überaus heftig. Aber auch in dieser Krankheit suchte er nicht den Herrn auf, sondern die Ärzte.
And Asa is diseased—in the thirty-ninth year of his reign—in his feet, until his disease is excessive; and also in his disease he has not sought YHWH, but among physicians.
13 Und Asa legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und zwar starb er in seinem einundvierzigsten Regierungsjahr.
And Asa lies with his fathers, and dies in the forty-first year of his reign,
14 Man begrub ihn in seiner Grabstätte, die er sich in der Davidsstadt angelegt hatte. Man legte ihn auf ein Lager, das man mit Spezereien und sonstigen kunstvoll bereiteten Gewürzen angefüllt hatte. Dann zündete man ihm einen überaus großen Brand an.
and they bury him in [one of] his graves that he had prepared for himself in the City of David, and they cause him to lie on a bed that [one] has filled [with] spices, and various kinds of mixtures, with perfumed work; and they burn a very great burning for him.
