1 Thessalonicher 1
1 Paulus, Silvanus und Timotheus an die Gemeinde der Thessalonicher in Gott, dem Vater, und im Herrn Jesus Christus. Gnade werde euch zuteil und Friede.
To the Thessalonian church in union with God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, from Paul, Silas, and Timothy. May God bless you and give you peace.
2 Wir danken Gott allezeit für euch alle, sooft wir bei unseren Gebeten euer gedenken.
We always mention you in our prayers and thank God for you all;
3 Vor Gott und unserem Vater denken wir unablässig an euren Glauben, der sich in Werken kundgibt, an eure Liebe, die solche Opfer bringt, an eure feste Hoffnung auf unseren Herrn Jesus Christus.
recalling continually before our God and Father the efforts that have resulted from your faith, the toil prompted by your love, and the patient endurance sustained by your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Wir sind auch überzeugt, von Gott geliebte Brüder, daß ihr erwählt seid.
Friends, whom God loves, we know that he has chosen you,
5 Denn unser Evangelium ist nicht bloß in Worten zu euch gekommen, sondern auch in Macht und im Heiligen Geiste und mit großer Überzeugungskraft. Ihr wisset ja, wie wir um euretwillen bei euch aufgetreten sind.
because the good news that we brought came home to you, not merely as so many words, but with a power and a fulness of conviction due to the Holy Spirit. For you know the life that we lived among you for your good.
6 Und ihr seid unsere sowie des Herrn Nachahmer geworden, da ihr das Wort, trotz vieler Not, doch mit der Freude des Heiligen Geistes angenommen habt.
And you yourselves began to follow, not only our example, but the Master’s also; and, in spite of much suffering, you welcomed the message with a joy inspired by the Holy Spirit,
7 Ihr wurdet so ein Vorbild für alle Gläubigen in Mazedonien und in Achaia.
and so became a pattern to all who believed in Christ throughout Macedonia and Greece.
8 Von euch aus ist das Wort des Herrn erklungen nicht bloß in Mazedonien und Achaia, überall ist euer Glaube an Gott kund geworden. Darüber brauchen wir nichts weiter mehr zu sagen.
For it was from you that the Lord’s message resounded throughout Macedonia and Greece; and, more than that, your faith in God has become known far and wide; so that there is no need for us to say another word.
9 Die Leute selbst erzählen es, welch eine Aufnahme wir bei euch gefunden haben und wie ihr euch von den Götzen zu Gott bekehrt habt, um dem lebendigen und wahren Gott zu dienen
Indeed, in speaking about us, the people themselves tell of the reception you gave us, and how, turning to God from your idols, you became servants of the true and living God,
10 und seinen Sohn, den er von den Toten auferweckt hat, vom Himmel zu erwarten, Jesus, der vor dem kommenden Zorngericht uns errettet.
and are now awaiting the return from heaven of his Son whom he raised from the dead – Jesus, our deliverer from the coming wrath.
