1 Samuel 26

1 Da kamen die Ziphiter zu Saul nach der Gibea und sagten: "Hält sich David nicht auf dem sonnigen Hügel am Eingang zur Einöde versteckt?"

Againe the Ziphims came vnto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doeth not Dauid hide him selfe in the hill of Hachilah before Ieshimon?

2 So machte sich Saul auf, ging nach der Wüste Ziph hinab mit 3.000 Mann, auserlesenen Israeliten, um David in der Wüste Ziph zu suchen.

Then Saul arose, and went downe to the wildernes of Ziph, hauing three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, for to seeke Dauid in the wildernesse of Ziph.

3 Saul nun lagerte sich auf dem sonnigen Hügel am Eingang zur Einöde. David aber saß in der Wüste. Da überkam ihn eine Ahnung, daß Saul ihm in die Wüste nachzöge.

And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Ieshimon by the way side. Now Dauid abode in the wildernesse, and he sawe that Saul came after him into the wildernesse.

4 Und so sandte David Kundschafter aus und da erfuhr er bestimmt, daß Saul gekommen sei.

(For Dauid had sent out spies, and vnderstood, that Saul was come in very deede)

5 Da machte sich David auf und kam an den Ort, wo Saul lagerte. Und David sah den Platz, wo sich Saul mit seinem Feldhauptmann Abner, Ners Sohn, niedergelegt hatte. Saul schlief nämlich in einem Wallkreis, und das Volk lagerte rings um ihn.

Then Dauid arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched, and when Dauid beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the sonne of Ner which was his chiefe captaine, (for Saul lay in the fort, and the people pitched round about him)

6 Da hob David an und sprach zu dem Chittiter Achimelek und zu Abisai, Serujas Sohn und Joabs Bruder: "Wer steigt mit mir zu Saul in das Lager hinab?" Da sprach Abisai: "Ich gehe mit dir hinab."

Then spake Dauid, and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the sonne of Zeruiah, brother to Ioab, saying, Who will go downe with me to Saul to the hoste? Then Abishai said, I will goe downe with thee.

7 So kam David mit Abisai zu dem Kriegsvolk in der Nacht. Saul aber lag schlafend in dem Wallkreis und sein Speer stak im Boden zu seinen Häupten. Und Abner lag mit dem Volke rings um ihn.

So Dauid and Abishai came downe to the people by night: and beholde, Saul lay sleeping within the fort, and his speare did sticke in the ground at his head: and Abner and the people lay round about him.

8 Da sprach Abisai zu David: "Gott gibt dir heute deinen Feind in deine Hand. Nun spieße ich ihn mit seiner Lanze durch einen Stoß an den Boden; ich brauche keinen zweiten."

Then saide Abishai to Dauid, God hath closed thine enemie into thine hande this day: now therefore, I pray thee, let me smite him once with a speare to the earth, and I will not smite him againe.

9 Da sprach David zu Abisai: "Bring ihn nicht um! Wer hätte je den Gesalbten des Herrn angetastet und wäre straflos geblieben!"

And Dauid sayde to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can lay his hand on the Lordes anoynted, and be giltlesse?

10 Dann sprach David: "So wahr der Herr lebt! Entweder schlägt ihn der Herr, oder sein Tag kommt, da er sterben muß, oder er zieht in den Kampf und wird weggerafft.

Moreouer Dauid said, As the Lord liueth, eyther the Lord shall smite him, or his day shall come to dye, or he shall descend into battel, and perish.

11 Bewahre mich der Herr davor, daß ich meine Hand an den Gesalbten des Herrn lege! Nimm jetzt den Speer zu seinen Häupten und den Wasserkrug! Laßt uns dann gehen!"

The Lord keepe mee from laying mine hand vpon the Lordes anointed: but, I pray thee, take now the speare that is at his head, and the pot of water, and let vs goe hence.

12 So ließ David die Lanze und den Wasserkrug von Sauls Häupten nehmen. Dann gingen sie ihres Wegs. Niemand sah es und niemand merkte es und niemand erwachte. Sie schliefen alle; denn ein Tiefschlaf des Herrn war auf sie gefallen.

So Dauid tooke the speare and the pot of water from Sauls head, and they gate them away, and no man saw it, nor marked it, neither did any awake, but they were all asleepe: for the Lord had sent a dead sleepe vpon them.

13 Dann ging David auf die andere Seite und stellte sich auf die Spitze des Berges von ferne. Der Raum aber zwischen ihnen war groß.

Then Dauid went vnto the other side, and stoode on the toppe of an hill a farre off, a great space being betweene them.

14 Da rief David dem Volke und Abner, Ners Sohn, also zu: "Gibst du nicht Antwort, Abner?" Da erwiderte Abner und fragte. "Wer bist du? Rufst du des Königs wegen?"

And Dauid cryed to the people, and to Abner the sonne of Ner, saying, Hearest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered, and said, Who art thou that cryest to the King?

15 Da sprach David zu Abner: "Bist du nicht ein Mann? Wer gleicht dir in Israel? Warum aber behütest du nicht den König, deinen Herrn? Jemand vom Volke ist ja gekommen, den König, deinen Herrn, umzubringen.

And Dauid said to Abner, Art not thou a man? and who is like thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lorde the King? for there came one of the folke in to destroy the King thy lord.

16 Nicht recht ist, was du getan. So wahr der Herr lebt! Den Tod verdient ihr, die ihr euren Herrn, des Herrn Gesalbten, nicht behütet habt. Schau doch nach des Königs Speer und Wasserkrug zu seinen Häupten!"

This is not well done of thee: as the Lord liueth, ye are worthy to dye, because ye haue not kept your master the Lordes Anointed: and now see where the Kings speare is, and the pot of water that was at his head.

17 Da erkannte Saul die Stimme Davids und sprach: "Ist dies deine Stimme, mein Sohn David?" Da sprach David: "Ja, mein Herr und König!"

And Saul knewe Dauids voyce, and sayde, Is this thy voyce, my sonne Dauid? And Dauid sayde, It is my voyce, my lorde O King.

18 Dann sprach er: "Warum verfolgt der Herr seinen Sklaven? Was tue ich: Was ist bei mir Böses?

And he sayde, Wherefore doeth my lorde thus persecute his seruant? for what haue I done? or what euill is in mine hand?

19 Möchte doch jetzt mein Herr und König den Worten seines Sklaven Gehör schenken! Hat dich der Herr gegen mich aufgereizt, dann erfreue er sich des Opfers! Wenn aber Menschenkinder, dann seien sie vor dem Herrn verflucht, weil sie mich heute vertreiben, daß ich nicht einmal als Geringster in des Herrn Erbteil leben kann! Sie sprechen: 'Auf! Diene anderen Göttern!'

Now therefore, I beseech thee, let my lord the King heare the wordes of his seruant. If the Lord haue stirred thee vp against me, let him smell the sauour of a sacrifice: but if the children of men haue done it, cursed be they before the Lord: for they haue cast me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the Lord, saying, Goe, serue other gods.

20 Nun denn! Möge mein Blut nicht in des Herrn Augen unbedeutend sein! Denn Israels König macht Jagd auf einen winzigen Floh, wie man im Gebirge das Rebhuhn jagt."

Nowe therefore let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the Lord: for the King of Israel is come out to seeke a flea, as one would hunt a partridge in the mountaines.

21 Da sprach Saul: "Ich habe gefehlt. Kehre zurück, mein Sohn David! Ich tue dir nie wieder ein Leid an, dafür, daß dir mein Leben heute so kostbar gewesen ist. Gewiß! Ich habe töricht gehandelt, daß ich mich so stark verging."

Then sayde Saul, I haue sinned: come againe, my sonne Dauid: for I will doe thee no more harme, because my soule was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I haue done foolishly, and haue erred exceedingly.

22 Da antwortete David und sprach: "Hier ist des Königs Speer. Einer deiner Diener möge herüberkommen und ihn holen!

Then Dauid answered, and saide, Beholde the Kings speare, let one of the yong men come ouer and set it.

23 Der Herr aber vergilt jedem seine Redlichkeit und Treue. So hat dich der Herr heute in meine Hand gegeben. Ich aber habe nicht des Herrn Gesalbten anfassen wollen.

And let the Lord rewarde euery man according to his righteousnesse and faithfulnesse: for the Lord had deliuered thee into mine handes this day, but I woulde not lay mine hand vpon the Lords anointed.

24 So wertvoll heute mir dein Leben gewesen, so kostbar möge auch mein Leben dem Herrn sein! Er möge mich aus aller Not erretten!"

And beholde, like as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes: so let my life be set by in the eyes of the Lord, that he may deliuer me out of all tribulation.

25 Da sprach Saul zu David: "Sei gesegnet, mein Sohn David! Du führst es aus und führst es zu Ende." Hierauf ging David seines Weges, und Saul kehrte an seinen Ort zurück.

Then Saul said to Dauid, Blessed art thou, my sonne Dauid: for thou shalt doe great things, and also preuaile. So Dauid went his way, and Saul returned to his place.
