1 Samuel 19
1 Saul sprach nun zu seinem Sohne Jonatan und all seinen Dienern davon, man solle David töten. Sauls Sohn Jonatan aber liebte David innig.
Then Saul ordered his son Jonathan and all his servants to kill David. But Jonathan delighted greatly in David,
2 So erzählte Jonatan dem David: "Mein Vater Saul sucht dich zu töten. Nimm dich daher morgen früh in acht! Geh in ein Versteck und verbirg dich!
so he warned David, saying, “My father Saul intends to kill you. Be on your guard in the morning; find a secret place and hide there.
3 Ich gehe dann hinaus und stelle mich neben meinen Vater auf dem Felde, wo du bist, und rede mit meinem Vater über dich. Erfahre ich etwas, dann sage ich es dir."
I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, so I can ask about you. And if I find out anything, I will tell you.”
4 Da redete Jonatan über David vor seinem Vater Saul Gutes und sprach zu ihm: "Der König vergehe sich nicht an seinem Knechte David! Denn er hat sich nicht an dir versündigt, sondern seine Taten sind recht gut für dich.
Then Jonathan spoke well of David to his father Saul and said to him, “The king should not sin against his servant David; he has not sinned against you. In fact, his actions have been highly beneficial to you.
5 Er setzte sein Leben aufs Spiel und schlug den Philister. Der Herr schaffte so für ganz Israel einen großen Sieg. Du hast es gesehen und dann freutest du dich. Warum willst du dich an unschuldigem Blut vergehen und David grundlos töten?"
He took his life in his hands when he struck down the Philistine, and the LORD worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced, so why would you sin against innocent blood by killing David for no reason?”
6 Da schenkte Saul dem Jonatan Gehör. Und Saul schwur: "So wahr der Herr lebt! Er soll nicht getötet werden!"
Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan and swore an oath: “As surely as the LORD lives, David will not be put to death.”
7 Da rief Jonatan den David. Und Jonatan erzählte ihm all diese Worte. Dann führte Jonatan David zu Saul, und er blieb bei ihm wie zuvor.
So Jonathan summoned David and told him all these things. Then Jonathan brought David to Saul to serve him as he had before.
8 Als nun wieder Krieg ausbrach, zog David aus und stritt gegen die Philister. Er schlug sie schwer, und sie flohen vor ihm.
When war broke out again, David went out and fought the Philistines and struck them with such a mighty blow that they fled before him.
9 Über Saul aber kam ein böser Geist des Herrn. Er saß zu Hause, seinen Speer in der Hand. David aber spielte Zither.
But as Saul was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand, a spirit of distress from the LORD came upon him. While David was playing the harp,
10 Da suchte Saul den David mit dem Speer an die Wand zu spießen. Er aber wich vor Saul aus, und so stieß er den Speer in die Wand. David aber floh und entkam.
Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear. But the spear struck the wall and David eluded him, ran away, and escaped that night.
11 In jener Nacht aber schickte Saul Boten in Davids Haus, um auf ihn aufzupassen und ihn am anderen Morgen zu töten. Aber den David warnte sein Weib Mikal; sie sprach: "Rettest du nicht diese Nacht dein Leben, dann bist du morgen des Todes."
Then Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him and kill him in the morning. But David’s wife Michal warned him, “If you do not run for your life tonight, tomorrow you will be dead!”
12 Und Mikal ließ David durchs Fenster hinab. Er ging weg, floh und entkam.
So Michal lowered David from the window, and he ran away and escaped.
13 Mikal aber nahm den Teraphim, tat ihn ins Bett, legte einen Ziegenpelz zu seinen Häupten und bedeckte ihn mit der Decke.
Then Michal took a household idol and laid it in the bed, placed some goat hair on its head, and covered it with a garment.
14 Saul schickte nun Boten, David festzunehmen. Da sprach sie: "Er ist krank."
When Saul sent the messengers to seize David, Michal said, “He is ill.”
15 Da sandte Saul die Boten zurück, nach David zu sehen, und sprach: "Schleppt mir ihn samt dem Bette her, daß ich ihn töte!"
But Saul sent the messengers back to see David and told them, “Bring him up to me in his bed so I can kill him.”
16 Die Boten kamen. Da lag im Bette der Teraphim, zu seinen Häupten der Ziegenpelz.
And when the messengers entered, there was the idol in the bed with the quilt of goats’ hair on its head.
17 Da sprach Saul zu Mikal: "Warum hast du mich so betrogen, daß du meinen Feind entrinnen ließest und er heil entkam?" Da sprach Mikal zu Saul: "Er sagte zu mir: 'Laß mich, oder ich schlage dich tot.'"
And Saul said to Michal, “Why did you deceive me like this? You sent my enemy away and he has escaped!” Michal replied, “He said to me, ‘Help me get away, or I will kill you!’”
18 David aber war geflohen, und so entkam er. Da kam er zu Samuel auf die Höhe und erzählte ihm alles, was Saul ihm getan. Da gingen er und Samuel und wohnten in einem Heim.
So David ran away and escaped. And he went to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there.
19 Da ward Saul gemeldet: "David ist in dem Heim auf der Höhe."
When Saul was told that David was at Naioth in Ramah,
20 Da sandte Saul Boten, David zu holen. Sie sahen den Trupp der Propheten in Verzückung, und Samuel stand dabei als Vorsteher. Da kam über Sauls Boten ein Gottesgeist, und auch sie wurden verzückt.
he sent messengers to capture him. But when they saw the group of prophets prophesying, with Samuel leading them, the Spirit of God came upon them, and Saul’s messengers also began to prophesy.
21 Man meldete dies Saul. Da sandte er andere Boten. Aber auch sie wurden verzückt. Saul sandte zum drittenmal Boten. Da wurden auch sie verzückt.
When this was reported to Saul, he sent more messengers, but they began to prophesy as well. So Saul tried again and sent messengers a third time, and even they began to prophesy.
22 Da ging er selbst nach der Höhe und kam zum großen Brunnen bei Seku. Da fragte er. "Wo sind Samuel und David?" Man sagte: "Sie sind in dem Heim auf der Höhe."
Finally, Saul himself left for Ramah and came to the large cistern at Secu, where he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” “At Naioth in Ramah,” he was told.
23 Da ging er von dort zu dem Heim auf der Höhe. Und auch ihn überkam der Gottesgeist. Er ging verzückt, bis er zu dem Heim auf der Höhe kam.
So Saul went to Naioth in Ramah. But the Spirit of God came upon even Saul, and he walked along prophesying until he came to Naioth in Ramah.
24 Da streifte auch er seine Kleider ab und war vor Samuel verzückt. So lag er nackt da, jenen ganzen Tag und die ganze Nacht. Daher pflegt man zu sagen: "Ist auch Saul unter den Propheten
Then Saul stripped off his robes and also prophesied before Samuel. And he collapsed and lay naked all that day and night. That is why it is said, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
