1 Chiram, der König von Tyrus, sandte seine Diener zu Salomo, weil er gehört, daß man ihn zum König an seines Vaters Statt gesalbt hatte. Chiram war ja immer ein vertrauter Freund Davids gewesen.
And Hiram king of Tyre sendeth his servants unto Solomon, for he heard that they had anointed him for king instead of his father, for Hiram was a lover of David all the days;
2 Und Salomo sandte zu Chiram und ließ sagen:
and Solomon sendeth unto Hiram, saying,
3 "Du weißt, daß mein Vater David nicht vermocht hat, für den Namen des Herrn, seines Gottes, ein Haus zu bauen wegen der Kriege, mit denen man ihn umringt hat, bis der Herr sie unter seine Fußsohle legte.
'Thou hast known David my father, that he hath not been able to build a house to the name of Jehovah his God, because of the wars that have been round about him, till Jehovah's putting them under the soles of his feet.
4 Nun hat mir der Herr ringsum Ruhe verschafft. Kein Widersacher und kein böser Anstoß ist mehr da.
'And now, Jehovah my God hath given rest to me round about, there is no adversary nor evil occurrence,
5 So gedenke ich, dem Namen des Herrn, meines Gottes, ein Haus zu bauen, wie der Herr zu meinem Vater David gesprochen: 'Dein Sohn, den ich an deiner Statt auf deinen Thron setze, baue meinem Namen ein Haus!'
and lo, I am saying to build a house to the name of Jehovah my God, as Jehovah spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son whom I appoint in thy stead on thy throne, he doth build the house for My name.
6 Darum lasse mir jetzt Zedern auf dem Libanon schlagen! Meine Diener mögen bei deinen Dienern sein! Ich gebe den Lohn deiner Diener dir so, wie du sagst. Denn du weißt selbst, daß bei uns niemand ist, der Holz zu schlagen weiß wie die Sidonier."
'And now, command, and they cut down for me cedars out of Lebanon, and my servants are with thy servants, and the hire of thy servants I give to thee according to all that thou sayest, for thou hast known that there is not among us a man acquainted with cutting wood, like the Sidonians.'
7 Als Chiram Salomos Botschaft hörte, freute er sich sehr und sprach: "Gepriesen sei der Herr, der dem David einen weisen Sohn über das zahlreiche Volk verliehen hat!"
And it cometh to pass at Hiram's hearing the words of Solomon, that he rejoiceth exceedingly, and saith, 'Blessed [is] Jehovah to-day, who hath given to David a wise son over this numerous people.'
8 Und Chiram schickte an Salomo und ließ sagen: "Ich habe gehört, was du mir entboten hast. Ich will all deinen Wunsch an Zedern und Zypressenstämmen erfüllen.
And Hiram sendeth unto Solomon, saying, I have heard that which thou hast sent unto me, I do all thy desire concerning cedar-wood, and fir-wood,
9 Meine Knechte sollen sie vom Libanon zum Meer bringen! Ich mache daraus im Meer Flöße bis zu dem Ort, den du mir angibst. Dort nehme ich sie auseinander. Und du kannst sie wegbringen. Du aber mögest meinen Wunsch erfüllen und für mein Haus Speise liefern!"
my servants bring down from Lebanon to the sea, and I make them floats in the sea unto the place that thou sendest unto me, and I have spread them out there; and thou dost take [them] up, and thou dost execute my desire, to give the food of my house.'
10 So lieferte Chiram dem Salomo Zedern- und Zypressenstämme ganz nach Wunsch.
And Hiram is giving to Solomon cedar-trees, and fir-trees, all his desire,
11 Dafür gab Salomo dem Chiram 20.000 Maß Weizen als Speise für sein Haus, dazu 20.000 Maß Öl aus zerstoßenen Oliven. Soviel gab Salomo dem Chiram Jahr für Jahr.
and Solomon hath given to Hiram twenty thousand cors of wheat, food for his house, and twenty cors of beaten oil; thus doth Solomon give to Hiram year by year.
12 Und der Herr hatte Salomo Weisheit verliehen, wie er ihm verheißen hatte. Zwischen Chiram und Salomo war Frieden, und sie schlossen ein Bündnis miteinander.
And Jehovah hath given wisdom to Solomon as He spake to him, and there is peace between Hiram and Solomon, and they make a covenant both of them.
13 Und der König Salomo hob von ganz Israel Fronarbeiter aus. Der Fronarbeiter waren es 30.000 Mann.
And king Solomon lifteth up a tribute out of all Israel, and the tribute is thirty thousand men,
14 Er sandte sie auf den Libanon, jeden Monat abwechselnd 10.000 Mann. Einen Monat waren sie auf dem Libanon und zwei Monate zu Hause. Über die Fron war Adoniram gesetzt.
and he sendeth them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month, by changes, a month they are in Lebanon, two months in their own house; and Adoniram [is] over the tribute.
15 Im Gebirge hatte Salomo 70.000 Lastträger und 80.000 Steinhauer,
And king Solomon hath seventy thousand bearing burdens, and eighty thousand hewing in the mountain,
16 außer den 3.300 Obersten der salomonischen Vögte, die über das Werk gesetzt waren. Diese beaufsichtigten das Volk, das am Werke arbeitete.
apart from the heads of the officers of Solomon, who [are] over the work, three thousand and three hundred, those ruling over the people who are working in the business.
17 Der König gebot, und sie brachen große, schwere Steine, um den Grund des Hauses mit Quadersteinen zu legen.
And the king commandeth, and they bring great stones, precious stone, to lay the foundation of the house, hewn stones;
18 So behauten die Bauleute Salomos und Chirams sowie die Gibliter die Stämme und Steine und richteten sie zum Bau des Hauses her.
and the builders of Solomon, and the builders of Hiram, and the Giblites hew, and prepare the wood and the stones to build the house.
