1 Zur Zeit der Jahreswende, zur Zeit, wenn die Könige ins Feld ziehen, führte Joab das Heer ins Feld und verheerte das Ammoniterland. Dann zog er hin und belagerte Rabba. David aber blieb in Jerusalem. Dann erstürmte Joab Rabba und zerstörte es.
And it was to [the] time of [the] return of the year to [the] time of - [the] going out of kings and he lead out Joab [the] army of war and he destroyed - [the] land of [the] people of Ammon and he went and he besieged Rabbah and David [was] remaining in Jerusalem and he struck Joab Rabbah and he overthrew it.
2 David aber nahm dem Milkom seine Krone vom Kopf und fand, daß sie ein Talent Gold wog. Kostbare Edelsteine waren daran, und sie paßte auf Davids Haupt. Die Beute der Stadt führte er in großer Menge weg.
And he took David [the] crown of king their from on head his and he found it - weight of a talent of gold and [was] in it a stone precious and it was on [the] head of David and [the] plunder of the city he brought out much very.
3 Das Volk aber, das darin war, führte er heraus. Dann legte er Feuerbrände an und hieb und stach mit Eisen darein. So tat David mit all den anderen Ammoniterstädten. Dann kehrte David mit dem ganzen Volk nach Jerusalem zurück.
And the people which [was] in it he brought out and he sawed with saw and with [the] sharp instruments of iron and with saws and thus he did David to all [the] cities of [the] people of Ammon and he returned David and all the people Jerusalem.
4 Hernach kam es nochmals mit den Philistern in Gezer zum Kampf. Damals erlegte der Chusatite Sibkai den Sippai, eines der Riesenkinder. So wurden sie gedemütigt.
And it was after this and it arose a battle at Gezer with [the] Philistines then he struck down Sibbecai the Hushathite Sippai one of those born of the Rephaites and they were subdued.
5 Nochmals war ein Kampf mit den Philistern. Da schlug Jairs Sohn Elchanan den Gatiter Lachmi, Goliats Bruder, dessen Speerschaft einem Weberbaume glich.
And it was again a battle with [the] Philistines and he struck down Elhanan [the] son of (Jair *Q(K)*) Lahmi [the] brother of Goliath the Gittite and [the] wood of spear his [was] like a beam of weavers.
6 Nochmals war ein Kampf bei Gat. Da war ein riesenlanger Mensch, der je sechs Finger und Zehen hatte, also vierundzwanzig, und der gleichfalls von den Riesen stammte.
And it was again a battle at Gath and he was - a man of stature and digits his [were] six and six twenty and four and also he he was born to Rapha.
7 Als er Israel höhnte, schlug ihn Jonatan, der Sohn Simeas, des Bruders Davids.
And he taunted Israel and he struck down him Jonathan [the] son of Shimea [the] brother of David.
8 Diese stammten von den Riesen zu Gat und fielen durch Davids und seiner Diener Hand.
These they were born to Rapha in Gath and they fell by [the] hand of David and by [the] hand of servants his.
