Roemers 7
1 Oder wisset ihr nicht, Brüder (denn ich rede zu denen, die Gesetz kennen), daß das Gesetz über den Menschen herrscht, solange er lebt?
Britheren, whethir ye knowun not; for Y speke to men `that knowen the lawe; for the lawe hath lordschip in a man, as long tyme as it lyueth?
2 Denn das verheiratete Weib ist durchs Gesetz an den Mann gebunden, solange er lebt; wenn aber der Mann gestorben ist, so ist sie losgemacht von dem Gesetz des Mannes.
For that womman that is vndur an hosebonde, is boundun to the lawe, while the hosebonde lyueth; but if hir hosebonde is deed, sche is delyuered fro the lawe of the hosebonde.
3 So wird sie denn, während der Mann lebt, eine Ehebrecherin geheißen, wenn sie eines anderen Mannes wird; wenn aber der Mann gestorben ist, ist sie frei von dem Gesetz, so daß sie nicht eine Ehebrecherin ist, wenn sie eines anderen Mannes wird.
Therfor sche schal be clepid auoutresse, if sche be with another man, while the hosebonde lyueth; but if hir hosebonde is deed, sche is delyuered fro the lawe of the hosebonde, that sche be not auoutresse, if sche be with another man.
4 Also seid auch ihr, meine Brüder, dem Gesetz getötet worden durch den Leib des Christus, um eines anderen zu werden, des aus den Toten Auferweckten, auf daß wir Gott Frucht brächten.
And so, my britheren, ye ben maad deed to the lawe bi the bodi of Crist, that ye ben of another, that roos ayen fro deth, that ye bere fruyt to God.
5 Denn als wir im Fleische waren, wirkten die Leidenschaften der Sünden, die durch das Gesetz sind, in unseren Gliedern, um dem Tode Frucht zu bringen.
For whanne we weren in fleisch, passiouns of synnes, that weren bi the lawe, wrouyten in oure membris, to bere fruyt to deth.
6 Jetzt aber sind wir von dem Gesetz losgemacht, da wir dem gestorben sind, in welchem wir festgehalten wurden, so daß wir dienen in dem Neuen des Geistes und nicht in dem Alten des Buchstabens.
But now we ben vnboundun fro the lawe of deth, in which we weren holdun, so that we seruen in newnesse of spirit, and not in eldnesse of lettre.
7 Was sollen wir nun sagen? Ist das Gesetz Sünde? Das sei ferne! Aber die Sünde hätte ich nicht erkannt, als nur durch Gesetz. Denn auch von der Lust hätte ich nichts gewußt, wenn nicht das Gesetz gesagt hätte: “Laß dich nicht gelüsten”.
What therfor schulen we seie? The lawe is synne? God forbede. But Y knew not synne, but bi lawe; for Y wiste not that coueitynge was synne, but for the lawe seide, Thou schalt not coueyte.
8 Die Sünde aber, durch das Gebot Anlaß nehmend, bewirkte jede Lust in mir; denn ohne Gesetz ist die Sünde tot.
And thoruy occasioun takun, synne bi the maundement hath wrouyt in me al coueytise; for withouten the lawe, synne was deed.
9 Ich aber lebte einst ohne Gesetz; als aber das Gebot kam, lebte die Sünde auf;
And Y lyuede withouten the lawe sumtyme; but whanne the comaundement was comun, synne lyuede ayen.
10 ich aber starb. Und das Gebot, das zum Leben gegeben, dasselbe erwies sich mir zum Tode.
But Y was deed, and this comaundement that was to lijf, was foundun to me, to be to deth.
11 Denn die Sünde, durch das Gebot Anlaß nehmend, täuschte mich und tötete mich durch dasselbe.
For synne, thorouy occasioun takun bi the comaundement, disceyuede me, and bi that it slow me.
12 So ist also das Gesetz heilig und das Gebot heilig und gerecht und gut.
Therfor the lawe is hooli, and the comaundement is hooli, and iust, and good.
13 Gereichte nun das Gute mir zum Tode? Das sei ferne! Sondern die Sünde, auf daß sie als Sünde erschiene, indem sie durch das Gute mir den Tod bewirkte, auf daß die Sünde überaus sündig würde durch das Gebot.
Is thanne that thing that is good, maad deth to me? God forbede. But synne, that it seme synne, thorouy good thing wrouyte deth to me, that me synne ouer maner thorouy the comaundement.
14 Denn wir wissen, daß das Gesetz geistlich ist, ich aber bin fleischlich, unter die Sünde verkauft;
And we witen, that the lawe is spiritual; but Y am fleischli, seld vndur synne.
15 denn was ich vollbringe, erkenne ich nicht; denn nicht, was ich will, das tue ich, sondern was ich hasse, das übe ich aus.
For Y vndurstonde not that that Y worche; for Y do not the good thing that Y wole, but Y do thilke yuel thing that Y hate.
16 Wenn ich aber das, was ich nicht will, ausübe, so stimme ich dem Gesetz bei, daß es recht ist.
And if Y do that thing that Y wole not, Y consente to the lawe, that it is good.
17 Nun aber vollbringe nicht mehr ich dasselbe, sondern die in mir wohnende Sünde.
But now Y worche not it now, but the synne that dwellith in me.
18 Denn ich weiß, daß in mir, das ist in meinem Fleische, nichts Gutes wohnt; denn das Wollen ist bei mir vorhanden, aber das Vollbringen dessen, was recht ist, [finde ich] nicht.
But and Y woot, that in me, that is, in my fleisch, dwellith no good; for wille lieth to me, but Y fynde not to performe good thing.
19 Denn das Gute, das ich will, übe ich nicht aus, sondern das Böse, das ich nicht will, dieses tue ich.
For Y do not thilke good thing that Y wole, but Y do thilke yuel thing that Y wole not.
20 Wenn ich aber dieses, was ich nicht will, ausübe, so vollbringe nicht mehr ich dasselbe, sondern die in mir wohnende Sünde.
And if Y do that yuel thing that Y wole not, Y worche not it, but the synne that dwellith in me.
21 Also finde ich das Gesetz für mich, der ich das Rechte ausüben will, daß das Böse bei mir vorhanden ist.
Therfor Y fynde the lawe to me willynge to do good thing, for yuel thing lieth to me.
22 Denn ich habe Wohlgefallen an dem Gesetz Gottes nach dem inneren Menschen;
For Y delite togidere to the lawe of God, aftir the ynnere man. But Y se another lawe in my membris,
23 aber ich sehe ein anderes Gesetz in meinen Gliedern, das dem Gesetz meines Sinnes widerstreitet und mich in Gefangenschaft bringt unter das Gesetz der Sünde, das in meinen Gliedern ist.
ayenfiytynge the lawe of my soule, and makynge me caitif in the lawe of synne, that is in my membris.
24 Ich elender Mensch! Wer wird mich retten von diesem Leibe des Todes? -
Y am an vnceli man; who schal delyuer me fro the bodi of this synne?
25 Ich danke Gott durch Jesum Christum, unseren Herrn! Also nun diene ich selbst mit dem Sinne Gottes Gesetz, mit dem Fleische aber der Sünde Gesetz.
The grace of God, bi Jhesu Crist oure Lord. Therfor Y my silf bi the soule serue to the lawe of God; but bi fleisch to the lawe of synne.
