Psalm 59
1 Dem Vorsänger, “Verdirb nicht!” Von David, ein Gedicht, als Saul sandte, und sie sein Haus bewachten, um ihn zu töten. Befreie mich von meinen Feinden, o mein Gott! Setze mich in Sicherheit vor denen, die sich wider mich erheben!
God, save me from my enemies! Protect me from those who want to attack me!
2 Befreie mich von denen, die Frevel tun, und rette mich von den Blutmenschen!
Rescue me from men who want to do what is wicked, men who are murderers!
3 Denn siehe, sie lauern auf meine Seele; Starke rotten sich wider mich ohne meine Übertretung und ohne meine Sünde, Jehova!
Look! They are waiting to kill me! Fierce men have gathered to assault me. Yahweh, they are doing that even though I have not done what is wrong!
4 Ohne eine Schuld meinerseits laufen und bereiten sie sich; wache auf, mir entgegen, und sieh!
It is not because I have committed any sin [against them] that they run and get ready to attack me.
5 Ja, du, Jehova, Gott der Heerscharen, Gott Israels, erwache, um heimzusuchen alle Nationen! Sei keinem gnädig von den treulos Frevelnden! (Sela)
Yahweh my God, commander of the armies of heaven, the one we Israelis [worship], arise and punish the [ungodly/heathen people of] all the nations; do not be merciful to those [wicked people] who have (acted treacherously toward/secretly planned to harm) us.
6 Am Abend kehren sie zurück, heulen wie Hunde, und rings umgehen sie die Stadt.
They return each evening, snarling like vicious dogs [SIM] as they prowl around this city.
7 Siehe, aus ihrem Munde sprudeln sie Böses hervor, Schwerter sind auf ihren Lippen, denn “wer hört?”
They loudly say terrible things; they say [MTY] many things that [injure people like] [MET] swords do, but they think, “No one will [RHQ] hear us!”
8 Du aber, Jehova, wirst ihrer lachen, wirst spotten aller Nationen.
But Yahweh, you laugh at them. You (scoff at/ridicule) the [people of the pagan] nations.
9 Meine Stärke, auf dich will ich achten; denn Gott ist meine hohe Feste.
God, I have confidence in you because you are very strong; you are my refuge.
10 Mein Gott wird mir mit seiner Güte zuvorkommen; Gott wird mich meine Lust sehen lassen an meinen Feinden.
Because you love me, you will come to save me; you will allow me to watch while you defeat my enemies.
11 Töte sie nicht, damit mein Volk es nicht vergesse; laß sie umherirren durch deine Macht, und stürze sie nieder, Herr, unser Schild!
But do not kill them [immediately] in order that my people will not forget [how you punished them]! [Instead], Lord, [you who are like a] shield [that protects us] [MET], scatter them by your power, and [then] defeat them.
12 Sünde ihres Mundes ist das Wort ihrer Lippen; so laß sie gefangen werden in ihrem Hochmut und wegen des Fluches und wegen der Lüge, die sie aussprechen!
Because what they say [MTY] is sinful, allow them to be trapped for being proud. Because they are [always] cursing and telling lies,
13 Mache ein Ende im Grimm, mache ein Ende, daß sie nicht mehr seien, und erkennen, daß Gott in Jakob herrscht bis an die Enden der Erde! (Sela)
because you are angry, get rid of them; destroy them completely in order that people will know that you rule over us, your Israeli people, and that you rule over all the earth.
14 Und am Abend kehren sie zurück, heulen wie Hunde, und rings umgehen sie die Stadt.
My enemies return each evening, snarling like [vicious] dogs as they prowl around this city.
15 Sie schweifen umher nach Speise; sie übernachten, wenn sie auch nicht satt sind.
They roam around, searching for food; and if they do not find enough, they growl.
16 Ich aber will singen von deiner Stärke, und des Morgens jubelnd preisen deine Güte; denn du bist mir eine hohe Feste gewesen und ein Zuflucht am Tage meiner Bedrängnis.
But [as for me], I will sing about your power; [every] morning I will sing joyfully about your faithfully loving [us]. I will sing about how you protected me when I was [very] distressed.
17 Dir, meine Stärke, will ich Psalmen singen; denn Gott ist meine hohe Feste, der Gott meiner Güte.
God, you are the one who enables me to be strong; you are my refuge; you faithfully love me.
