Psalm 2
1 Warum toben die Nationen und sinnen Eitles die Völkerschaften?
Why have the Gentiles raged, and the people devised vain things?
2 Es treten auf die Könige der Erde, und die Fürsten ratschlagen miteinander wider Jehova und wider seinen Gesalbten:
The kings of the earth stood up, and the princes met together, against the Lord and against his Christ.
3 “Lasset uns zerreißen ihre Bande, und von uns werfen ihre Seile!”
Let us break their bonds asunder: and let us cast away their yoke from us.
4 Der im Himmel thront, lacht, der Herr spottet ihrer.
He that dwelleth in heaven shall laugh at them: and the Lord shall deride them.
5 Dann wird er zu ihnen reden in seinem Zorn, und in seiner Zornglut wird er sie schrecken.
Then shall he speak to them in his anger, and trouble them in his rage.
6 “Habe doch ich meinen König gesalbt auf Zion, meinem heiligen Berge!”
But I am appointed king by him over Sion his holy mountain, preaching his commandment.
7 Vom Beschluß will ich erzählen: Jehova hat zu mir gesprochen: Du bist mein Sohn, heute habe ich dich gezeugt.
The Lord hath said to me: Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee.
8 Fordere von mir, und ich will dir zum Erbteil geben die Nationen, und zum Besitztum die Enden der Erde.
Ask of me, and I will give thee the Gentiles for thy inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Mit eisernem Zepter wirst du sie zerschmettern, wie ein Töpfergefäß sie zerschmeißen.
Thou shalt rule them with a rod of iron, and shalt break them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
10 Und nun, ihr Könige, seid verständig, lasset euch zurechtweisen, ihr Richter der Erde!
And now, O ye kings, understand: receive instruction, you that judge the earth.
11 Dienet Jehova mit Furcht, und freuet euch mit Zittern!
Serve ye the Lord with fear: and rejoice unto him with trembling.
12 Küsset den Sohn, daß er nicht zürne, und ihr umkommet auf dem Wege, wenn nur ein wenig entbrennt sein Zorn. Glückselig alle, die auf ihn trauen!
Embrace discipline, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and you perish from the just way. When his wrath shall be kindled in a short time, blessed are all they that trust in him.
