Sprueche 22
1 Ein guter Name ist vorzüglicher als großer Reichtum, Anmut besser als Silber und Gold.
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.
2 Reiche und Arme begegnen sich: Jehova hat sie alle gemacht.
The rich and the poor meet together. Jehovah is the maker of them all.
3 Der Kluge sieht das Unglück und verbirgt sich; die Einfältigen aber gehen weiter und leiden Strafe.
A prudent man sees the evil, and hides himself, but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.
4 Die Folge der Demut, der Furcht Jehovas, ist Reichtum und Ehre und Leben.
The reward of humility and the fear of Jehovah is riches and honor and life.
5 Dornen, Schlingen sind auf dem Wege des Verkehrten; wer seine Seele bewahrt, hält sich fern von ihnen.
Thorns and snares are in the way of a perverse man. He who keeps his soul shall be far from them.
6 Erziehe den Knaben seinem Wege gemäß; er wird nicht davon weichen, auch wenn er alt wird.
Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it.
7 Der Reiche herrscht über den Armen, und der Borgende ist ein Knecht des Leihenden.
The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
8 Wer Unrecht sät, wird Unheil ernten, und seines Zornes Rute wird ein Ende nehmen.
He who sows iniquity shall reap calamity, and the rod of his wrath shall fail.
9 Wer gütigen Auges ist, der wird gesegnet werden; denn er gibt von seinem Brote dem Armen.
He who has a bountiful eye shall be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor.
10 Treibe den Spötter fort, so geht der Zank hinaus, und Streit und Schande hören auf.
Cast out the scoffer, and contention will go out, yea, strife and reproach will cease.
11 Wer Reinheit des Herzens liebt, wessen Lippen Anmut sind, dessen Freund ist der König.
He who loves pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips, the king will be his friend.
12 Die Augen Jehovas behüten die Erkenntnis, und er vereitelt die Worte des Treulosen.
The eyes of Jehovah preserve knowledge, but he overthrows the words of the treacherous man.
13 Der Faule spricht: Ein Löwe ist draußen; ich möchte ermordet werden mitten auf den Straßen!
The sluggard says, There is a lion outside. I shall be slain in the streets.
14 Der Mund fremder Weiber ist eine tiefe Grube; wem Jehova zürnt, der fällt hinein.
The mouth of interloping women is a deep pit. He who is abhorred of Jehovah shall fall in it.
15 Narrheit ist gekettet an das Herz des Knaben; die Rute der Zucht wird sie davon entfernen.
Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
16 Wer den Armen bedrückt, ihm zur Bereicherung ist es; wer dem Reichen gibt, es ist nur zum Mangel.
He who oppresses a poor man to his increase, and he who gives to a rich man, comes only to want.
17 Neige dein Ohr und höre die Worte der Weisen, und richte dein Herz auf mein Wissen!
Incline thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thy heart to my knowledge.
18 Denn lieblich ist es, wenn du sie in deinem Innern bewahrst; möchten sie allzumal auf deinen Lippen Bestand haben!
For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee, if they be established together upon thy lips.
19 Damit dein Vertrauen auf Jehova sei, habe ich heute dich, ja dich, belehrt.
That thy trust may be in Jehovah, I have made them known to thee this day, even to thee.
20 Habe ich dir nicht Vortreffliches aufgeschrieben an Ratschlägen und Erkenntnis,
Have I not written to thee excellent things of counsels and knowledge,
21 um dir kundzutun die Richtschnur der Worte der Wahrheit: damit du denen, die dich senden, Worte zurückbringest, welche Wahrheit sind?
to make thee know the certainty of the words of truth, that thou may carry back words of truth to those who send thee?
22 Beraube nicht den Armen, weil er arm ist, und zertritt nicht den Elenden im Tore.
Do not rob a poor man, because he is poor, nor oppress an afflicted man in the gate.
23 Denn Jehova wird ihre Rechtssache führen, und ihre Berauber des Lebens berauben.
For Jehovah will plead their cause, and despoil of life those who despoil them.
24 Geselle dich nicht zu einem Zornigen, und geh nicht um mit einem hitzigen Manne,
Make no friendship with a man who is given to anger, and thou shall not go with a wrathful man,
25 damit du seine Pfade nicht lernest und einen Fallstrick davontragest für deine Seele.
lest thou learn this ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
26 Sei nicht unter denen, die in die Hand einschlagen, unter denen, welche für Darlehn Bürgschaft leisten.
Be thou not one of those who strike hands, or of those who are sureties for debts.
27 Wenn du nicht hast, um zu bezahlen, warum soll er dein Bett unter dir wegnehmen?
If thou have not wherewith to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
28 Verrücke nicht die alte Grenze, welche deine Väter gemacht haben.
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
29 Siehst du einen Mann, der gewandt ist in seinem Geschäft, vor Königen wird er stehen, er wird nicht vor Niedrigen stehen.
See thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before obscure men.
