1 Eine gelinde Antwort wendet den Grimm ab, aber ein kränkendes Wort erregt den Zorn.
A soft answere putteth away wrath: but grieuous wordes stirre vp anger.
2 Die Zunge der Weisen spricht tüchtiges Wissen aus, aber der Mund der Toren sprudelt Narrheit.
The tongue of the wise vseth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fooles babbleth out foolishnesse.
3 Die Augen Jehovas sind an jedem Orte, schauen aus auf Böse und auf Gute.
The eyes of the Lord in euery place beholde the euill and the good.
4 Lindigkeit der Zunge ist ein Baum des Lebens, aber Verkehrtheit in ihr ist eine Verwundung des Geistes.
A wholesome tongue is as a tree of life: but the frowardnes therof is the breaking of ye minde.
5 Ein Narr verschmäht die Unterweisung seines Vaters; wer aber die Zucht beachtet, ist klug.
A foole despiseth his fathers instruction: but he that regardeth correction, is prudent.
6 Das Haus des Gerechten ist eine große Schatzkammer; aber im Einkommen des Gesetzlosen ist Zerrüttung.
The house of the righteous hath much treasure: but in the reuenues of the wicked is trouble.
7 Die Lippen der Weisen streuen Erkenntnis aus, aber nicht also das Herz der Toren.
The lippes of the wise doe spread abroade knowledge: but ye heart of the foolish doth not so.
8 Das Opfer der Gesetzlosen ist Jehova ein Greuel, aber das Gebet der Aufrichtigen sein Wohlgefallen.
The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the righteous is acceptable vnto him.
9 Der Weg des Gesetzlosen ist Jehova ein Greuel; wer aber der Gerechtigkeit nachjagt, den liebt er.
The way of the wicked is an abomination vnto the Lord: but he loueth him that followeth righteousnes.
10 Schlimme Züchtigung wird dem zuteil, der den Pfad verläßt; wer Zucht haßt, wird sterben.
Instruction is euill to him that forsaketh the way, and he that hateth correction, shall die.
Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more the hearts of the sonnes of men? (Sheol h7585)
12 Der Spötter liebt es nicht, daß man ihn zurechtweise; zu den Weisen geht er nicht.
A scorner loueth not him that rebuketh him, neither will he goe vnto the wise.
13 Ein frohes Herz erheitert das Antlitz; aber bei Kummer des Herzens ist der Geist zerschlagen.
A ioyfull heart maketh a chearefull countenance: but by the sorow of the heart the minde is heauie.
14 Des Verständigen Herz sucht Erkenntnis, aber der Mund der Toren weidet sich an Narrheit.
The heart of him that hath vnderstanding, seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of the foole is fedde with foolishnes.
15 Alle Tage des Elenden sind böse, aber ein fröhliches Herz ist ein beständiges Festmahl.
All the dayes of the afflicted are euill: but a good conscience is a continuall feast.
16 Besser wenig mit der Furcht Jehovas, als ein großer Schatz und Unruhe dabei.
Better is a litle with the feare of the Lord, then great treasure, and trouble therewith.
17 Besser ein Gericht Gemüse und Liebe dabei, als ein gemästeter Ochs und Haß dabei.
Better is a dinner of greene herbes where loue is, then a stalled oxe and hatred therewith.
18 Ein zorniger Mann erregt Zank, aber ein Langmütiger beschwichtigt den Streit.
An angrie man stirreth vp strife: but hee that is slowe to wrath, appeaseth strife.
19 Der Weg des Faulen ist wie eine Dornhecke, aber der Pfad der Aufrichtigen ist gebahnt.
The way of a slouthfull man is as an hedge of thornes: but the way of the righteous is plaine.
20 Ein weiser Sohn erfreut den Vater, aber ein törichter Mensch verachtet seine Mutter.
A wise sonne reioyceth the father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 Die Narrheit ist dem Unverständigen Freude, aber ein verständiger Mann wandelt geradeaus.
Foolishnes is ioy to him that is destitute of vnderstanding: but a man of vnderstanding walketh vprightly.
22 Pläne scheitern, wo keine Besprechung ist; aber durch viele Ratgeber kommen sie zustande.
Without cousel thoughts come to nought: but in the multitude of counsellers there is stedfastnesse.
23 Ein Mann hat Freude an der Antwort seines Mundes; und ein Wort zu seiner Zeit, wie gut!
A ioy commeth to a man by the answere of his mouth: and how good is a word in due season?
24 Der Weg des Lebens ist für den Einsichtigen aufwärts, damit er dem Scheol unten entgehe. (Sheol h7585)
The way of life is on high to the prudent, to auoyde from hell beneath. (Sheol h7585)
25 Das Haus der Hoffärtigen reißt Jehova nieder, aber der Witwe Grenze stellt er fest.
The Lord will destroye the house of the proude men: but hee will stablish the borders of the widowe.
26 Böse Anschläge sind Jehova ein Greuel, aber huldvolle Worte sind rein.
The thoughts of ye wicked are abomination to the Lord: but the pure haue pleasant wordes.
27 Wer der Habsucht frönt, verstört sein Haus; wer aber Geschenke haßt, wird leben.
He that is greedie of gaine, troubleth his owne house: but he that hateth giftes, shall liue.
28 Das Herz des Gerechten überlegt, um zu antworten; aber der Mund der Gesetzlosen sprudelt Bosheiten.
The heart of the righteous studieth to answere: but the wicked mans mouth babbleth euil thinges.
29 Jehova ist fern von den Gesetzlosen, aber das Gebet der Gerechten hört er.
The Lord is farre off from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30 Das Leuchten der Augen erfreut das Herz; eine gute Nachricht labt das Gebein.
The light of the eyes reioyceth the heart, and a good name maketh the bones fat.
31 Ein Ohr, das auf die Zucht zum Leben hört, wird inmitten der Weisen weilen.
The eare that hearkeneth to the correction of life, shall lodge among the wise.
32 Wer Unterweisung verwirft, verachtet seine Seele; wer aber auf Zucht hört, erwirbt Verstand.
Hee that refuseth instruction, despiseth his owne soule: but he that obeyeth correction, getteth vnderstanding.
33 Die Furcht Jehovas ist Unterweisung zur Weisheit, und der Ehre geht Demut voraus.
The feare of the Lord is the instruction of wisdome: and before honour, goeth humilitie.
