Matthaeus 5
1 Als er aber die Volksmengen sah, stieg er auf den Berg; und als er sich gesetzt hatte, traten seine Jünger zu ihm.
But seeing the crowds, he went up into the mountain, and having sat down, his disciples came to him;
2 Und er tat seinen Mund auf, lehrte sie und sprach:
and, having opened his mouth, he taught them, saying,
3 Glückselig die Armen im Geiste, denn ihrer ist das Reich der Himmel.
Blessed [are] the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.
4 Glückselig die Trauernden, denn sie werden getröstet werden.
Blessed they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 Glückselig die Sanftmütigen, denn sie werden das Land ererben.
Blessed the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Glückselig die nach der Gerechtigkeit hungern und dürsten, denn sie werden gesättigt werden.
Blessed they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.
7 Glückselig die Barmherzigen, denn ihnen wird Barmherzigkeit widerfahren.
Blessed the merciful, for they shall find mercy.
8 Glückselig die reinen Herzens sind, denn sie werden Gott schauen.
Blessed the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 Glückselig die Friedensstifter, denn sie werden Söhne Gottes heißen.
Blessed the peace-makers, for they shall be called sons of God.
10 Glückselig die um Gerechtigkeit willen Verfolgten, denn ihrer ist das Reich der Himmel.
Blessed they who are persecuted on account of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.
11 Glückselig seid ihr, wenn sie euch schmähen und verfolgen und jedes böse Wort lügnerisch wider euch reden werden um meinetwillen.
Blessed are ye when they may reproach and persecute you, and say every wicked thing against you, lying, for my sake.
12 Freuet euch und frohlocket, denn euer Lohn ist groß in den Himmeln; denn also haben sie die Propheten verfolgt, die vor euch waren.
Rejoice and exult, for your reward is great in the heavens; for thus have they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13 Ihr seid das Salz der Erde; wenn aber das Salz kraftlos geworden ist, womit soll es gesalzen werden? Es taugt zu nichts mehr, als hinausgeworfen und von den Menschen zertreten zu werden.
Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have become insipid, wherewith shall it be salted? It is no longer fit for anything but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot by men.
14 Ihr seid das Licht der Welt; eine Stadt, die oben auf einem Berge liegt, kann nicht verborgen sein.
Ye are the light of the world: a city situated on the top of a mountain cannot be hid.
15 Man zündet auch nicht eine Lampe an und setzt sie unter den Scheffel sondern auf das Lampengestell, und sie leuchtet allen, die im Hause sind.
Nor do [men] light a lamp and put it under the bushel, but upon the lamp-stand, and it shines for all who are in the house.
16 Also lasset euer Licht leuchten vor den Menschen, damit sie eure guten Werke sehen und euren Vater, der in den Himmeln ist, verherrlichen.
Let your light thus shine before men, so that they may see your upright works, and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.
17 Wähnet nicht, daß ich gekommen sei, das Gesetz oder die Propheten aufzulösen; ich bin nicht gekommen, aufzulösen, sondern zu erfüllen.
Think not that I am come to make void the law or the prophets; I am not come to make void, but to fulfil.
18 Denn wahrlich, ich sage euch: Bis der Himmel und die Erde vergehen, soll auch nicht ein Jota oder ein Strichlein von dem Gesetz vergehen, bis alles geschehen ist.
For verily I say unto you, Until the heaven and the earth pass away, one iota or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all come to pass.
19 Wer irgend nun eines dieser geringsten Gebote auflöst und also die Menschen lehrt, wird der Geringste heißen im Reiche der Himmel; wer irgend aber sie tut und lehrt, dieser wird groß heißen im Reiche der Himmel.
Whosoever then shall do away with one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whosoever shall practise and teach [them], he shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.
20 Denn ich sage euch: Wenn nicht eure Gerechtigkeit vorzüglicher ist als die der Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, so werdet ihr nicht in das Reich der Himmel eingehen.
For I say unto you, that unless your righteousness surpass [that] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
21 Ihr habt gehört, daß zu den Alten gesagt ist: Du sollst nicht töten; wer aber irgend töten wird, wird dem Gericht verfallen sein.
Ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not kill; but whosoever shall kill shall be subject to the judgment.
22 Ich aber sage euch, daß jeder, der seinem Bruder [ohne Grund] zürnt, dem Gericht verfallen sein wird; wer aber irgend zu seinem Bruder sagt: Raka! dem Synedrium verfallen sein wird; wer aber irgend sagt: Du Narr! der Hölle des Feuers verfallen sein wird. (Geenna g1067)
But I say unto you, that every one that is lightly angry with his brother shall be subject to the judgment; but whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be subject to [be called before] the sanhedrim; but whosoever shall say, Fool, shall be subject to the penalty of the hell of fire. 23 Wenn du nun deine Gabe darbringst zu dem Altar und dich daselbst erinnerst, daß dein Bruder etwas wider dich habe,
If therefore thou shouldest offer thy gift at the altar, and there shouldest remember that thy brother has something against thee,
24 so laß daselbst deine Gabe vor dem Altar und geh zuvor hin, versöhne dich mit deinem Bruder; und dann komm und bringe deine Gabe dar.
leave there thy gift before the altar, and first go, be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 Willfahre deiner Gegenpartei schnell, während du mit ihr auf dem Wege bist; damit nicht etwa die Gegenpartei dich dem Richter überliefere, und der Richter dich dem Diener überliefere, und du ins Gefängnis geworfen werdest.
Make friends with thine adverse party quickly, whilst thou art in the way with him; lest some time the adverse party deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 Wahrlich, ich sage dir: Du wirst nicht von dannen herauskommen, bis du auch den letzten Pfennig bezahlt hast.
Verily I say to thee, Thou shalt in no wise come out thence till thou hast paid the last farthing.
27 Ihr habt gehört, daß gesagt ist: Du sollst nicht ehebrechen.
Ye have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt not commit adultery.
28 Ich aber sage euch, daß jeder, der ein Weib ansieht, ihrer zu begehren, schon Ehebruch mit ihr begangen hat in seinem Herzen.
But I say unto you, that every one who looks upon a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29 Wenn aber dein rechtes Auge dich ärgert, so reiß es aus und wirf es von dir; denn es ist dir nütze, daß eines deiner Glieder umkomme und nicht dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen werde. (Geenna g1067)
But if thy right eye be a snare to thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
30 Und wenn deine rechte Hand dich ärgert, so haue sie ab und wirf sie von dir; denn es ist dir nütze, daß eines deiner Glieder umkomme und nicht dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen werde. (Geenna g1067)

31 Es ist aber gesagt: Wer irgend sein Weib entlassen wird, gebe ihr einen Scheidebrief.
It has been said too, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a letter of divorce.
32 Ich aber sage euch: Wer irgend sein Weib entlassen wird, außer auf Grund von Hurerei, macht, daß sie Ehebruch begeht; und wer irgend eine Entlassene heiratet, begeht Ehebruch.
But I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except for cause of fornication, makes her commit adultery, and whosoever marries one that is put away commits adultery.
33 Wiederum habt ihr gehört, daß zu den Alten gesagt ist: Du sollst nicht fälschlich schwören, du sollst aber dem Herrn deine Eide erfüllen.
Again, ye have heard that it has been said to the ancients, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt render to the Lord what thou hast sworn.
34 Ich aber sage euch: Schwöret überhaupt nicht; weder bei dem Himmel, denn er ist Gottes Thron;
But I say unto you, Do not swear at all; neither by the heaven, because it is [the] throne of God;
35 noch bei der Erde, denn sie ist seiner Füße Schemel; noch bei Jerusalem, denn sie ist des großen Königs Stadt;
nor by the earth, because it is [the] footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, because it is [the] city of the great King.
36 noch sollst du bei deinem Haupte schwören, denn du vermagst nicht, ein Haar weiß oder schwarz zu machen.
Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37 Es sei aber eure Rede: Ja, ja; nein, nein; was aber mehr ist als dieses, ist aus dem Bösen.
But let your word be Yea, yea; Nay, nay; but what is more than these is from evil.
38 Ihr habt gehört, daß gesagt ist: Auge um Auge, und Zahn um Zahn.
Ye have heard that it has been said, Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.
39 Ich aber sage euch: Widerstehet nicht dem Bösen, sondern wer irgend dich auf deinen rechten Backen schlagen wird, dem biete auch den anderen dar;
But I say unto you, not to resist evil; but whoever shall strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other;
40 und dem, der mit dir vor Gericht gehen und deinen Leibrock nehmen will, dem laß auch den Mantel.
and to him that would go to law with thee and take thy body coat, leave him thy cloak also.
41 Und wer irgend dich zwingen wird, eine Meile zu gehen, mit dem geh zwei.
And whoever will compel thee to go one mile, go with him two.
42 Gib dem, der dich bittet, und weise den nicht ab, der von dir borgen will.
To him that asks of thee give, and from him that desires to borrow of thee turn not away.
43 Ihr habt gehört, daß gesagt ist: Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben und deinen Feind hassen.
Ye have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy.
44 Ich aber sage euch: Liebet eure Feinde, [segnet, die euch fluchen, tut wohl denen, die euch hassen, ] und betet für die, die euch [beleidigen und] verfolgen,
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, [bless those who curse you, ] do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who [insult you and] persecute you,
45 damit ihr Söhne eures Vaters seid, der in den Himmeln ist; denn er läßt seine Sonne aufgehen über Böse und Gute und läßt regnen über Gerechte und Ungerechte.
that ye may be [the] sons of your Father who is in [the] heavens; for he makes his sun rise on evil and good, and sends rain on just and unjust.
46 Denn wenn ihr liebet, die euch lieben, welchen Lohn habt ihr? Tun nicht auch die Zöllner dasselbe?
For if ye should love those who love you, what reward have ye? Do not also the tax-gatherers the same?
47 Und wenn ihr eure Brüder allein grüßet, was tut ihr Besonderes? Tun nicht auch die von den Nationen dasselbe?
And if ye should salute your brethren only, what do ye extraordinary? Do not also the Gentiles the same?
48 Ihr nun sollt vollkommen sein, wie euer himmlischer Vater vollkommen ist.
Be ye therefore perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.
