Job 9
1 Und Hiob antwortete und sprach:
Then Iob answered, and sayd,
2 Wahrlich, ich weiß, daß es also ist; und wie könnte ein Mensch gerecht sein vor Gott?
I knowe verily that it is so: for howe should man compared vnto God, be iustified?
3 Wenn er Lust hat, mit ihm zu rechten, so kann er ihm auf tausend nicht eins antworten.
If I would dispute with him, hee could not answere him one thing of a thousand.
4 Er ist weise von Herzen und stark an Kraft: wer hat sich wider ihn verhärtet und ist unversehrt geblieben?
He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath bene fierce against him and hath prospered?
5 Der Berge versetzt, ehe sie es merken, er, der sie umkehrt in seinem Zorn;
He remoueth the mountaines, and they feele not when he ouerthroweth them in his wrath.
6 der die Erde aufbeben macht von ihrer Stätte, und ihre Säulen erzittern;
Hee remooueth the earth out of her place, that the pillars thereof doe shake.
7 der der Sonne befiehlt, und sie geht nicht auf, und der die Sterne versiegelt;
He commandeth the sunne, and it riseth not: hee closeth vp the starres, as vnder a signet.
8 der die Himmel ausspannt, er allein, und einherschreitet auf den Höhen des Meeres;
Hee himselfe alone spreadeth out the heauens, and walketh vpon the height of the sea.
9 der den großen Bären gemacht hat, den Orion und das Siebengestirn und die Kammern des Südens;
He maketh the starres Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the climates of the South.
10 der Großes tut, daß es nicht zu erforschen, und Wundertaten, daß sie nicht zu zählen sind.
He doeth great things, and vnsearcheable: yea, marueilous things without nomber.
11 Siehe, er geht an mir vorüber, und ich sehe ihn nicht, und er zieht vorbei, und ich bemerke ihn nicht.
Lo, when he goeth by me, I see him not: and when he passeth by, I perceiue him not.
12 Siehe, er rafft dahin, und wer will ihm wehren? Wer zu ihm sagen: Was tust du?
Behold, when he taketh a pray, who can make him to restore it? who shall say vnto him, What doest thou?
13 Gott wendet seinen Zorn nicht ab, unter ihn beugen sich Rahabs Helfer.
God will not withdrawe his anger, and the most mightie helpes doe stoupe vnder him.
14 Wieviel weniger könnte ich ihm antworten, meine Worte wählen ihm gegenüber!
Howe much lesse shall I answere him? or howe should I finde out my words with him?
15 Der ich, wenn ich gerecht wäre, nicht antworten könnte, um Gnade würde ich flehen zu meinem Richter.
For though I were iust, yet could I not answere, but I would make supplication to my Iudge.
16 Wenn ich riefe, und er mir antwortete, nicht würde ich glauben, daß er meiner Stimme Gehör schenken würde:
If I cry, and he answere me, yet woulde I not beleeue, that he heard my voyce.
17 Er, der mich zermalmt durch ein Sturmwetter, und meine Wunden mehrt ohne Ursache;
For he destroyeth mee with a tempest, and woundeth me without cause.
18 er erlaubt mir nicht, Atem zu holen, denn er sättigt mich mit Bitterkeiten.
He wil not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitternesse.
19 Wenn es auf Kraft des Starken ankommt, so sagt er: “Siehe hier!” und wenn auf Recht: “Wer will mich vorladen?”
If we speake of strength, behold, he is strog: if we speake of iudgement, who shall bring me in to pleade?
20 Wenn ich auch gerecht wäre, so würde mein Mund mich doch verdammen; wäre ich vollkommen, so würde er mich für verkehrt erklären.
If I woulde iustifie my selfe, mine owne mouth shall condemne mee: if I would be perfite, he shall iudge me wicked.
21 Vollkommen bin ich; nicht kümmert mich meine Seele, ich verachte mein Leben; es ist eins!
Though I were perfite, yet I knowe not my soule: therefore abhorre I my life.
22 Darum sage ich: Den Vollkommenen und den Gesetzlosen vernichtet er.
This is one point: therefore I said, Hee destroyeth the perfite and the wicked.
23 Wenn die Geißel plötzlich tötet, so spottet er der Prüfung der Unschuldigen.
If the scourge should suddenly slay, should God laugh at the punishment of the innocent?
24 Die Erde ist in die Hand des Gesetzlosen gegeben, das Angesicht ihrer Richter verhüllt er. Wenn er es nun nicht ist, wer anders?
The earth is giuen into the hand of ye wicked: he couereth the faces of the iudges therof: if not, where is he? or who is he?
25 Und meine Tage eilen schneller dahin als ein Läufer, sie entfliehen, schauen das Glück nicht.
My dayes haue bene more swift then a post: they haue fled, and haue seene no good thing.
26 Sie ziehen vorüber gleich Rohrschiffen, wie ein Adler, der auf Fraß herabstürzt.
They are passed as with the most swift ships, and as the eagle that flyeth to the pray.
27 Wenn ich sage: Ich will meine Klage vergessen, will mein Angesicht glätten und mich erheitern,
If I say, I wil forget my complaynt, I will cease from my wrath, and comfort mee,
28 so bangt mir vor allen meinen Schmerzen; ich weiß, daß du mich nicht für schuldlos halten wirst.
Then I am afrayd of all my sorowes, knowing that thou wilt not iudge me innocent.
29 Ich muß schuldig sein; wozu soll ich mich denn nutzlos abmühen?
If I be wicked, why labour I thus in vaine?
30 Wenn ich mich mit Schnee wüsche und meine Hände mit Lauge reinigte,
If I wash my selfe with snowe water, and purge mine hands most cleane,
31 alsdann würdest du mich in die Grube tauchen, und meinen eigenen Kleidern würde vor mir ekeln.
Yet shalt thou plunge mee in the pit, and mine owne clothes shall make me filthie.
32 Denn er ist nicht ein Mann wie ich, daß ich ihm antworten dürfte, daß wir miteinander vor Gericht gehen könnten.
For he is not a man as I am, that I shoulde answere him, if we come together to iudgement.
33 Es gibt zwischen uns keinen Schiedsmann, daß er seine Hand auf uns beide legte.
Neyther is there any vmpire that might lay his hand vpon vs both.
34 Er tue seine Rute von mir weg, und sein Schrecken ängstige mich nicht:
Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his feare astonish me:
35 so will ich reden und ihn nicht fürchten; denn nicht also steht es bei mir.
Then will I speake, and feare him not: but because I am not so, I holde me still.
