Job 33
1 Nun aber, Hiob, höre doch meine Reden, und nimm zu Ohren alle meine Worte.
Therefore do thou but hear, O Job, my speeches, and give ear to all my words.
2 Siehe doch, ich habe meinen Mund aufgetan, meine Zunge redet in meinem Gaumen.
Behold now, I have opened my mouth, my tongue speaketh in my mouth.
3 Meine Worte sollen die Geradheit meines Herzens sein, und was meine Lippen wissen, sollen sie rein heraussagen.
Out of my straightforward heart [come] my sayings, and my lips utter knowledge clearly.
4 Der Geist Gottes hat mich gemacht, und der Odem des Allmächtigen belebt mich.
The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty giveth me life.
5 Wenn du kannst, so antworte mir; rüste dich vor mir, stelle dich!
If thou canst, answer me, array thyself before me, stand forward.
6 Siehe, ich bin Gottes, wie du; vom Tone abgekniffen bin auch ich.
Behold, I am in the same relation as thyself toward God: I myself also am cut out of the clay.
7 Siehe, mein Schrecken wird dich nicht ängstigen, und mein Druck wird nicht schwer auf dir lasten.
Behold, dread of me cannot terrify thee, and my pressure will not be too heavy upon thee.
8 Fürwahr, du hast vor meinen Ohren gesprochen, und ich hörte die Stimme der Worte:
But thou hast said before my ears, and the sound of the words I still hear,
9 Ich bin rein, ohne Übertretung; ich bin makellos, und keine Ungerechtigkeit ist an mir.
“I am pure without transgression, I am quite clean; and there is no iniquity in me:
10 Siehe, er erfindet Feindseligkeiten wider mich; er hält mich für seinen Feind.
Yet, behold, he findeth hateful backsliding on me, he regardeth me as an enemy unto him;
11 Er legt meine Füße in den Stock, beobachtet alle meine Pfade. -
He putteth my feet in the stocks, he watcheth all my paths.”
12 Siehe, darin hast du nicht recht, antworte ich dir; denn Gott ist erhabener als ein Mensch.
Behold, In this thou art not just: I will answer thee; for God is far greater than a mortal.
13 Warum hast du wider ihn gehadert? Denn über all sein Tun gibt er keine Antwort.
Why dost thou contend against him? for with all his words will he not give an answer.
14 Doch in einer Weise redet Gott und in zweien, ohne daß man es beachtet.
For God speaketh once, yea twice: [yet man] regardeth it not.
15 Im Traume, im Nachtgesicht, wenn tiefer Schlaf die Menschen befällt, im Schlummer auf dem Lager:
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumbers upon the couch:
16 dann öffnet er das Ohr der Menschen und besiegelt die Unterweisung, die er ihnen gibt,
Then doth he lay open the ear of men, and sealeth it with their warning;
17 um den Menschen von seinem Tun abzuwenden, und auf daß er Übermut vor dem Manne verberge;
To remove the son of earth [from his intended] deed and he covereth up pride from man;
18 daß er seine Seele zurückhalte von der Grube, und sein Leben vom Rennen ins Geschoß.
He withholdeth his soul from the pit, and his life from passing away by the sword.
19 Auch wird er gezüchtigt mit Schmerzen auf seinem Lager und mit beständigem Kampf in seinen Gebeinen.
And so is he admonished by pain upon his couch, and all his bones with violent [aches].
20 Und sein Leben verabscheut das Brot, und seine Seele die Lieblingsspeise;
So that his inclination abhorreth bread, and his soul, the most agreeable food.
21 sein Fleisch zehrt ab, daß man es nicht mehr sieht, und entblößt sind seine Knochen, die nicht gesehen wurden;
His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen, and his bones that were not seen stick out.
22 und seine Seele nähert sich der Grube, und sein Leben den Würgern.
Yea, his soul draweth near unto the pit, and his life to those that slay.
23 Wenn es nun für ihn einen Gesandten gibt, einen Ausleger, einen aus tausend, um dem Menschen seine Geradheit kundzutun,
If there be now about him one single angel, as defender, one out of a thousand, to tell for man his uprightness:
24 so wird er sich seiner erbarmen und sprechen: Erlöse ihn, daß er nicht in die Grube hinabfahre; ich habe eine Sühnung gefunden.
Then is he gracious unto him, and saith, Release him from going down to the pit, I have found an atonement.
25 Sein Fleisch wird frischer sein als in der Jugend; er wird zurückkehren zu den Tagen seiner Jünglingskraft.
His flesh becometh full again as in youth: he returneth to the days of his boyhood.
26 Er wird zu Gott flehen, und Gott wird ihn wohlgefällig annehmen, und er wird sein Angesicht schauen mit Jauchzen; und Gott wird dem Menschen seine Gerechtigkeit vergelten.
He will offer his entreaty unto God, and he will receive him in favor, that he may see his face with joy: so doth He recompense unto the mortal his righteousness.
27 Er wird von den Menschen singen und sagen: Ich hatte gesündigt und die Geradheit verkehrt, und es ward mir nicht vergolten;
He then should assemble men around, and say, “I had sinned, and perverted what is right, yet have I not received a like return.”
28 er hat meine Seele erlöst, daß sie nicht in die Grube fahre, und mein Leben erfreut sich des Lichtes.
Thus he redeemeth his soul from passing into the pit, and his life will look joyously on the light.
29 Siehe, das alles tut Gott zwei-, dreimal mit dem Manne,
Lo, all these things doth God two or three times with man;
30 um seine Seele abzuwenden von der Grube, daß sie erleuchtet werde von dem Lichte der Lebendigen.
To bring back his soul from the pit, that she may shine in the light of life.
31 Merke auf, Hiob, höre mir zu; schweige, und ich will reden.
Listen well, O Job, hearken unto me: keep silence, and I will truly speak.
32 Wenn du Worte hast, so antworte mir; rede, denn ich wünsche dich zu rechtfertigen.
If thou hast any words, answer me: speak, for I wish to justify thee.
33 Wenn nicht, so höre du mir zu; schweige, und ich werde dich Weisheit lehren.
If not, hearken thou unto me: keep silence, and I will teach thee wisdom.
