Job 20
1 Und Zophar, der Naamathiter, antwortete und sprach:
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said:
2 Darum geben meine Gedanken mir Antwort, und deswegen bin ich innerlich erregt:
Therefore do my thoughts give answer to me, even by reason of mine agitation that is in me.
3 Eine Zurechtweisung, mir zur Schande, höre ich; aber mein Geist antwortet mir aus meiner Einsicht.
I have heard the reproof which putteth me to shame, but out of my understanding my spirit answereth me.
4 Weißt du dieses, daß von jeher, seitdem der Mensch auf die Erde gesetzt wurde,
Knowest thou not this of old time, since man was placed upon earth,
5 der Jubel der Gesetzlosen kurz und die Freude des Ruchlosen für einen Augenblick war?
That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless but for a moment?
6 Stiege auch seine Höhe bis zum Himmel hinauf, und rührte sein Haupt an die Wolken:
Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
7 gleich seinem Kote vergeht er auf ewig; die ihn gesehen haben, sagen: Wo ist er?
Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung; they that have seen him shall say: 'Where is he?'
8 Wie ein Traum verfliegt er, und man findet ihn nicht, und er wird hinweggescheucht wie ein Nachtgesicht.
He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found; yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
9 Das Auge hat ihn erblickt und sieht ihn nimmer wieder, und seine Stätte gewahrt ihn nicht mehr.
The eye which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
10 Seine Kinder müssen die Armen begütigen, und seine Hände sein Vermögen zurückgeben.
His children shall appease the poor, and his hands shall restore his wealth.
11 Seine Knochen waren voll seiner Jugendkraft, und sie liegt mit ihm in dem Staube. -
His bones are full of his youth, but it shall lie down with him in the dust.
12 Wenn das Böse in seinem Munde süß war, und er es verbarg unter seiner Zunge,
Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;
13 und es aufsparte und nicht fahren ließ und es zurückhielt unter seinem Gaumen:
Though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth;
14 so ist doch nun seine Speise in seinen Eingeweiden verwandelt; Natterngalle ist in seinem Innern.
Yet his food in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.
15 Reichtum hat er verschlungen, und er speit ihn aus: aus seinem Bauche treibt Gott ihn heraus.
He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again; God shall cast them out of his belly.
16 Natterngift sog er ein: es tötet ihn die Zunge der Otter.
He shall suck the poison of asps; the viper's tongue shall slay him.
17 Nicht darf er sich laben an Bächen, flutenden Strömen von Honig und Milch.
He shall not look upon the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and curd.
18 Das Errungene gibt er zurück, und er darf es nicht verschlingen; gemäß dem Vermögen, das er erworben, darf er sich nicht freuen.
That which he laboured for shall he give back, and shall not swallow it down; according to the substance that he hath gotten, he shall not rejoice.
19 Denn er hat mißhandelt, verlassen die Armen; Häuser hat er an sich gerissen und wird sie nicht ausbauen.
For he hath oppressed and forsaken the poor; he hath violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.
20 Denn er kannte keine Ruhe in seinem Innern: mit seinem Teuersten wird er nicht entrinnen.
Because he knew no quietness within him, in his greed he suffered nought to escape,
21 Nichts entging seiner Freßgier; darum wird sein Wohlstand nicht dauernd sein.
There was nothing left that he devoured not — therefore his prosperity shall not endure.
22 In der Fülle seines Überflusses wird er in Bedrängnis sein; die Hand jedes Notleidenden wird über ihn kommen.
In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits; the hand of every one that is in misery shall come upon him.
23 Es wird geschehen: um seinen Bauch zu füllen, wird Gott die Glut seines Zornes in ihn entsenden, und sie auf ihn regnen lassen in sein Fleisch hinein.
It shall be for the filling of his belly; He shall cast the fierceness of His wrath upon him, and shall cause it to rain upon him into his flesh.
24 Flieht er vor den eisernen Waffen, so wird der eherne Bogen ihn durchbohren.
If he flee from the iron weapon, the bow of brass shall strike him through.
25 Er zieht am Pfeile, und er kommt aus dem Leibe hervor, und das glänzende Eisen aus seiner Galle: Schrecken kommen über ihn.
He draweth it forth, and it cometh out of his body; yea, the glittering point cometh out of his gall; terrors are upon him.
26 Eitel Finsternis ist aufgespart für seine Schätze; ein Feuer, das nicht angeblasen ist, wird ihn fressen, wird verzehren, was in seinem Zelte übriggeblieben.
All darkness is laid up for his treasures; a fire not blown by man shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tent.
27 Der Himmel wird seine Ungerechtigkeit enthüllen, und die Erde sich wider ihn erheben.
The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.
28 Der Ertrag seines Hauses wird weggeführt werden, wird zerrinnen am Tage seines Zornes. -
The increase of his house shall depart, his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
29 Das ist das Teil des gesetzlosen Menschen von Gott und das von Gott ihm zugesprochene Los.
This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
