Jesaja 41
1 Wendet euch schweigend zu mir, ihr Inseln; und die Völkerschaften mögen neue Kraft gewinnen; sie mögen herannahen, dann mögen sie reden; laßt uns miteinander vor Gericht treten!
Let the islands keep silence before me, and the nations take new strength: let them come near, and then speak, let us come near to judgment together.
2 Wer hat vom Aufgang her den erweckt, welchem Gerechtigkeit auf Schritt und Tritt begegnet? Er gab Nationen vor ihm dahin und ließ ihn Könige unterjochen, machte sie wie Staub vor seinem Schwerte, wie fortgetriebene Stoppeln vor seinem Bogen.
Who hath raised up the just one from the east, hath called him to follow him? he shall give the nations in his sight, and he shall rule over kings: he shall give them as the dust to his sword, as stubble driven by the wind, to his bow.
3 Er verfolgte sie, zog hin in Frieden einen Weg, den er mit seinen Füßen nie gegangen war.
He shall pursue them, he shall pass in peace, no path shall appear after his feet.
4 Wer hat es gewirkt und getan? Der die Geschlechter ruft von Anbeginn. Ich, Jehova, bin der Erste, und bei den Letzten bin ich derselbe.
Who hath wrought and done these things, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, I am the first and the last.
5 Die Inseln sahen es und fürchteten sich, es erbebten die Enden der Erde; sie näherten sich und kamen herbei:
The islands saw it, and feared, the ends of the earth were astonished, they drew near, and came.
6 Einer half dem anderen und sprach zu seinem Bruder: Sei mutig!
Every one shall help his neighbour, and shall say to his brother: Be of good courage.
7 Und der Künstler ermutigte den Schmelzer, der mit dem Hammer glättet ermutigte den, der auf den Amboß schlägt, und sprach von der Lötung: Sie ist gut; und er befestigte es mit Nägeln, daß es nicht wanke.
The coppersmith striking with the hammer encouraged him that forged at that time, saying: It is ready for soldering: and he strengthened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
8 Du aber, Israel, mein Knecht, Jakob, den ich erwählt habe, Same Abrahams, meines Freundes;
But thou Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend:
9 du, den ich ergriffen von den Enden der Erde und von ihren fernsten Gegenden her gerufen habe, und zu welchem ich sprach: Du bist mein Knecht, ich habe dich erwählt und nicht verschmäht-
In whom I have taken thee from the ends of the earth, and from the remote parts thereof have called thee, and said to thee: Thou art my servant, I have chosen thee, and have not cast thee away.
10 fürchte dich nicht, denn ich bin mit dir; schaue nicht ängstlich umher, denn ich bin dein Gott; ich stärke dich, ja, ich helfe dir, ja, ich stütze dich mit der Rechten meiner Gerechtigkeit.
Fear not, for I am with thee: turn not aside, for I am thy God: I have strengthened thee, and have helped thee, and the right hand of my just one hath upheld thee.
11 Siehe, es sollen beschämt und zu Schanden werden alle, die wider dich entbrannt sind; es sollen wie nichts werden und umkommen deine Widersacher.
Behold all that fight against thee shall be confounded and ashamed, they shall be as nothing, and the men shall perish that strive against thee.
12 Du wirst sie suchen und nicht finden, die Männer, die mit dir hadern; wie nichts und wie Nichtigkeit sollen die Männer werden, die dich bekriegen.
Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find the men that resist thee: they shall be as nothing: and as a thing consumed the men that war against thee.
13 Denn ich, Jehova, dein Gott, ergreife deine Rechte, der ich zu dir spreche: Fürchte dich nicht, ich helfe dir! -
For I am the Lord thy God, who take thee by the hand, and say to thee: Fear not, I have helped thee.
14 Fürchte dich nicht, du Wurm Jakob, du Häuflein Israel; ich helfe dir, spricht Jehova, und dein Erlöser ist der Heilige Israels.
Fear not, thou worm of Jacob, you that are dead of Israel: I have helped thee, saith the Lord: and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel.
15 Siehe, ich habe dich zu einem scharfen, neuen Dreschschlitten gemacht, mit Doppelschneiden versehen: du wirst Berge dreschen und zermalmen, und Hügel der Spreu gleich machen;
I have made thee as a new thrashing wain, with teeth like a saw: thou shall thrash the mountains, and break them in pieces: and shalt make the hills as chaff.
16 du wirst sie worfeln, daß der Wind sie entführt und der Sturm sie zerstreut. Du aber, du wirst in Jehova frohlocken und in dem Heiligen Israels dich rühmen. -
Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, in the Holy One of Israel thou shalt be joyful.
17 Die Elenden und die Armen, welche nach Wasser suchen, und keines ist da, deren Zunge vor Durst vertrocknet: Ich, Jehova, werde sie erhören, ich, der Gott Israels, werde sie nicht verlassen.
The needy and the poor seek for waters, and there are none: their tongue hath been dry with thirst. I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18 Ich werde Ströme hervorbrechen lassen auf den kahlen Höhen, und Quellen inmitten der Talebenen; ich werde die Wüste zum Wasserteich machen, und das dürre Land zu Wasserquellen.
I will open rivers in the high bills, and fountains in the midst of the plains: I will turn the desert into pools of waters, and the impassable land into streams of waters.
19 Ich werde Zedern in die Wüste setzen, Akazien und Myrten und Olivenbäume, werde in die Steppe pflanzen Zypressen, Platanen und Scherbinzedern miteinander;
I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, and the thorn, and the myrtle, and the olive tree: I will set in the desert the fir tree, the elm, and the box tree together:
20 damit sie sehen und erkennen und zu Herzen nehmen und verstehen allzumal, daß die Hand Jehovas dieses getan und der Heilige Israels es geschaffen hat.
That they may see and know, and consider, and understand together that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
21 Bringet eure Rechtssache vor, spricht Jehova; bringet eure Beweisgründe herbei, spricht der König Jakobs.
Bring your cause near, saith the Lord: bring hither, if you have any thing to allege, saith the King of Jacob.
22 Sie mögen herbeibringen und uns verkünden, was sich ereignen wird: das Zunächstkommende, was es sein wird, verkündet, damit wir es zu Herzen nehmen und dessen Ausgang wissen;
Let them come, and tell us all things that are to come: tell us the former things what they were: and we will set our heart upon them, and shall know the latter end of them, and tell us the things that are to come.
23 oder laßt uns das Künftige hören, verkündet das späterhin Kommende, damit wir erkennen, daß ihr Götter seid! Ja, tut Gutes oder tut Böses, damit wir uns gegenseitig anblicken und miteinander es sehen.
Shew the things that are to come hereafter, and we shall know that ye are gods. Do ye also good or evil, if you can: and let us speak, and see together.
24 Siehe, ihr seid nichts, und euer Tun ist Nichtigkeit; ein Greuel ist, wer euch erwählt.
Behold, you are of nothing, and your work of that which hath no being: he that hath chosen you is an abomination.
25 Ich habe ihn von Norden her erweckt, und er kam herbei, von Sonnenaufgang her den, der meinen Namen anruft. Und er tritt auf Fürsten wie auf Lehm, und wie ein Töpfer, welcher Ton zerknetet.
I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come from the rising of the sun: he shall call upon my name, and he shall make princes to be as dirt, and as the potter treading clay.
26 Wer hat es verkündet von Anbeginn, daß wir es wüßten? Und von ehedem, daß wir sagen könnten: Es ist recht! Ja, da war keiner, der es verkündete, ja, keiner, der es hören ließ, ja, keiner, der eure Worte gehört hätte.
Who bath declared from the beginning, that we may know: and from time of old, that we may say: Thou art just. There is none that sheweth, nor that foretelleth, nor that heareth your words.
27 Als Erster habe ich zu Zion gesagt: Siehe, siehe, da ist es! Und Jerusalem will ich einen Freudenboten geben!
The first shall say to Sion: Behold they are here, and to Jerusalem I will give an evangelist.
28 Und ich sah hin: und da war niemand, und unter diesen war kein Bescheidgeber, daß ich sie hätte fragen können, und sie mir Antwort gegeben hätten.
And I saw, and there was no one even among them to consult, or who, when I asked, could answer a word.
29 Siehe, sie allesamt, Eitelkeit, Nichtigkeit sind ihre Machwerke, Wind und Leere ihre gegossenen Bilder.
Behold they are all in the wrong, and their works are vain: their idols are wind and vanity.
