Habakuk 2
1 Auf meine Warte will ich treten und auf den Turm mich stellen, und will spähen, um zu sehen, was er mit mir reden wird, und was ich erwidern soll auf meine Klage. -
I will stand on my watch-tower, And set myself on the bulwark, And watch to see what he will say to me, And what I shall answer to my expostulation.
2 Da antwortete mir Jehova und sprach: Schreibe das Gesicht auf, und grabe es in Tafeln ein, damit man es geläufig lesen könne;
And Jehovah answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, That he may run that readeth it.
3 denn das Gesicht geht noch auf die bestimmte Zeit, und es strebt nach dem Ende hin und lügt nicht. Wenn es verzieht, so harre sein; denn kommen wird es, es wird nicht ausbleiben.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, But it hasteneth to the end; it shall not deceive; If it tarry, wait for it; For it shall surely come; it shall not long delay.
4 Siehe, aufgeblasen, nicht aufrichtig ist in ihm seine Seele. Der Gerechte aber wird durch seinen Glauben leben.
Behold, the soul of him that is puffed up shall not be at ease; But the just shall live by his faithfulness.
5 Und überdies: Der Wein ist treulos; der übermütige Mann, der bleibt nicht, er, der seinen Schlund weit aufsperrt wie der Scheol, und er ist wie der Tod und wird nicht satt; und er rafft an sich alle Nationen und sammelt zu sich alle Völker. (Sheol h7585)
Behold, the man of wine is outrageous; The proud man remaineth not at rest; He enlargeth his desire as the grave; He is as death, and cannot be satisfied; He gathereth to himself all the nations, And collecteth to himself all the kingdoms. (Sheol h7585)
6 Werden nicht diese alle über ihn einen Spruch und eine Spottrede anheben, Rätsel auf ihn? Und man wird sagen: Wehe dem, der aufhäuft, was nicht sein ist! auf wie lange? Und der Pfandlast auf sich ladet!
Shall not all of them utter a song against him, Yea, songs of reproach and derision concerning him? And say, Woe to him that heapeth up that which belongeth not to him! For how long a time? That ladeth himself with goods taken in pledge!
7 Und werden nicht plötzlich aufstehen, die dich beißen, und aufwachen, die dich fortscheuchen werden? Und du wirst ihnen zur Beute werden.
Shall not they suddenly rise up that will oppress thee, And awake, that will harass thee? Yea, thou shalt be their booty.
8 Denn du, du hast viele Nationen beraubt; und so werden alle übriggebliebenen Völker dich berauben wegen des Blutes der Menschen und der Gewalttat an Land und Stadt und an allen ihren Bewohnern.
Because thou hast plundered many kingdoms, All the residue of the nations shall plunder thee: For the blood of men, and for violence against the land, Against the city and all its inhabitants.
9 Wehe dem, der bösen Gewinn macht für sein Haus, um sein Nest hoch zu setzen, um sich zu retten aus der Hand des Unglücks!
Woe to him that procureth unjust gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, That he may be delivered from the evil hand!
10 Du hast Schande beratschlagt für dein Haus, die Vertilgung vieler Völker, und hast dein Leben verschuldet.
Thou hast devised shame for thine house; By destroying many nations, thou hast brought ruin upon thyself.
11 Denn der Stein wird schreien aus der Mauer, und der Sparren aus dem Holzwerk ihm antworten.
For the stone from the wall crieth out, And the beam from the timber answereth it.
12 Wehe dem, der Städte mit Blut baut, und Städte mit Ungerechtigkeit gründet!
Woe to him that buildeth a town by blood, And establisheth a city by iniquity!
13 Siehe, ist es nicht von Jehova der Heerscharen, daß Völker fürs Feuer sich abmühen, und Völkerschaften vergebens sich plagen?
Behold, it is determined by Jehovah of hosts, That nations shall labor for the fire, And kingdoms weary themselves for naught.
14 Denn die Erde wird voll werden von der Erkenntnis der Herrlichkeit Jehovas, gleichwie die Wasser den Meeresgrund bedecken.
For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah, As the waters cover the sea.
15 Wehe dem, der seinem Nächsten zu trinken gibt, indem du deinen Zorn beimischest, und sie auch trunken machst, um ihre Blöße anzuschauen!
Woe to him who giveth his neighbor drink; Who poureth out the strong wine, and maketh him drunken, That he may look upon his nakedness!
16 Du hast mit Schande dich gesättigt anstatt mit Ehre: trinke auch du und zeige dein Unbeschnittensein; der Becher der Rechten Jehovas wird sich zu dir wenden, und schimpfliche Schande über deine Herrlichkeit kommen.
Thou shalt be filled with shame instead of glory; Drink thou also, and show thy foreskin! To thee shall come the cup in the right hand of Jehovah, And foul shame shall be upon thy glory.
17 Denn die Gewalttat am Libanon wird dich bedecken, und die Zerstörung der Tiere, welche sie in Schrecken setzte: wegen des Blutes der Menschen und der Gewalttat an Land und Stadt und an allen ihren Bewohnern.
For the violence done to Lebanon shall cover thee, And the destruction of the beasts which made them afraid, On account of the blood of men, and violence against the land, Against the city and all its inhabitants.
18 Was nützt ein geschnitztes Bild, daß sein Bildner es geschnitzt hat? Ein gegossenes Bild, und welches Lügen lehrt, daß der Bildner seines Bildes darauf vertraut, um stumme Götzen zu machen?
What profiteth the graven image, When the maker hath graven it? Or the molten image, and the teacher of lies, That the artificer trusteth in his work, When he maketh dumb idols?
19 Wehe dem, der zum Holze spricht: Wache auf! Zum schweigenden Steine: Erwache! Er sollte lehren? Siehe, er ist mit Gold und Silber überzogen, und gar kein Odem ist in seinem Innern.
Woe to him who saith to the wood, Awake! To the dumb stone, Arise! Will it teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, And there is no breath within it.
20 Aber Jehova ist in seinem heiligen Palast, schweige vor ihm, ganze Erde!
But Jehovah is in his Holy temple; Be silent before him, all the earth!
