1 Und es geschah, als Jehova den Elia im Sturmwinde gen Himmel auffahren ließ, da gingen Elia und Elisa von Gilgal hinweg.
And it came to pass, when the Lord was going to take Eliu with a whirlwind as it were into heaven, that Eliu and Elisaie went out of Galgala.
2 Und Elia sprach zu Elisa: Bleibe doch hier; denn Jehova hat mich bis nach Bethel gesandt. Und Elisa sprach: So wahr Jehova lebt und deine Seele lebt, wenn ich dich verlasse! Und sie gingen nach Bethel hinab.
And Eliu said to Elisaie, Stay here, I pray you; for God has sent me to Baethel. And Elisaie said, [As] the Lord lives and your soul lives, I will not leave you; so they came to Baethel.
3 Da kamen die Söhne der Propheten, die in Bethel waren, zu Elisa heraus und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du, daß Jehova heute deinen Herrn über deinem Haupte hinwegnehmen wird? Und er sprach: Auch ich weiß es; schweiget!
And the sons of the prophets who were in Baethel came to Elisaie, and said to him, Do you know, that the Lord this day is going to take your lord away from your head? And he said, Yes, I know [it]; be silent.
4 Und Elia sprach zu ihm: Elisa, bleibe doch hier; denn Jehova hat mich nach Jericho gesandt. Aber er sprach: So wahr Jehova lebt und deine Seele lebt, wenn ich dich verlasse! Und sie kamen nach Jericho.
And Eliu said to Elisaie, Stay here, I pray you; for the Lord has sent me to Jericho. And he said, [As] the Lord lives and your soul lives, I will not leave you. And they came to Jericho.
5 Da traten die Söhne der Propheten, die in Jericho waren, zu Elisa und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du, daß Jehova heute deinen Herrn über deinem Haupte hinwegnehmen wird? Und er sprach: Auch ich weiß es; schweiget!
And the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho drew near to Elisaie, and said to him, Do you know that the Lord is about to take away your master today from your head? And he said, Yes, I know [it]; hold your peace.
6 Und Elia sprach zu ihm: Bleibe doch hier; denn Jehova hat mich an den Jordan gesandt. Aber er sprach: So wahr Jehova lebt und deine Seele lebt, wenn ich dich verlasse! Und so gingen sie beide miteinander.
And Eliu said to him, Stay here, I pray you, for the Lord has sent me to Jordan. And Elisaie said, [As] the Lord lives and your soul lives, I will not leave you: and they both went on.
7 Und fünfzig Mann von den Söhnen der Propheten gingen hin und stellten sich gegenüber von ferne; und sie beide traten an den Jordan.
And fifty men of the sons of the prophets [went also], and they stood opposite afar off: and both stood on [the bank] of Jordan.
8 Da nahm Elia seinen Mantel und wickelte ihn zusammen und schlug auf das Wasser; und es zerteilte sich dahin und dorthin, und sie gingen beide hinüber auf dem Trockenen.
And Eliu took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and struck the water: and the water was divided on this side and on that side, and they both went over on dry ground.
9 Und es geschah, als sie hinübergegangen waren, da sprach Elia zu Elisa: Begehre, was ich dir tun soll, ehe ich von dir genommen werde. Und Elisa sprach: So möge mir doch ein zwiefaches Teil von deinem Geiste werden!
And it came to pass while they were crossing over, that Eliu said to Elisaie, Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken up from you. And Elisaie said, Let there be, I pray you, a double [portion] of your spirit upon me.
10 Und er sprach: Du hast Schweres begehrt! Wenn du mich sehen wirst, wann ich von dir genommen werde, so soll dir also geschehen; wenn aber nicht, so wird es nicht geschehen.
And Eliu said, You have asked a hard thing: if you shall see me when I am taken up from you, then shall it be so to you; and if not, it shall not be [so].
11 Und es geschah, während sie gingen und im Gehen redeten, siehe da, ein Wagen von Feuer und Rosse von Feuer, welche sie beide voneinander trennten; und Elia fuhr im Sturmwind auf gen Himmel.
And it came to pass as they were going, they went on talking; and, behold, a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and it separated between them both; and Eliu was taken up in a whirlwind as it were into heaven.
12 Und Elisa sah es und schrie: Mein Vater, mein Vater! Wagen Israels und seine Reiter! Und er sah ihn nicht mehr. Da faßte er seine Kleider und zerriß sie in zwei Stücke.
And Elisaie saw, and cried, Father, father, the chariot of Israel, and the horseman thereof! And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his garments, and tore them into two pieces.
13 Und er hob den Mantel des Elia auf, der von ihm herabgefallen war, und kehrte um und trat an das Ufer des Jordan.
And Elisaie took up the mantle of Eliu, which fell from off him upon Elisaie; and Elisaie returned, and stood upon the brink of Jordan;
14 Und er nahm den Mantel des Elia, der von ihm herabgefallen war, und schlug auf das Wasser und sprach: Wo ist Jehova, der Gott des Elia? Auch er schlug auf das Wasser, und es zerteilte sich dahin und dorthin; und Elisa ging hinüber.
and he took the mantle of Eliu, which fell from off him, and struck the water, and said, Where is the Lord God of Eliu? and he struck the waters, and they were divided hither and there; and Elisaie went over.
15 Als nun die Söhne der Propheten, die gegenüber in Jericho waren, ihn sahen, da sprachen sie: Der Geist des Elia ruht auf Elisa! Und sie kamen ihm entgegen und beugten sich vor ihm zur Erde nieder,
And the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho on the opposite side saw him, and said, The spirit of Eliu has rested upon Elisaie. And they came to meet him, and did obeisance to him to the ground.
16 und sie sprachen zu ihm: Siehe doch, es sind bei deinen Knechten fünfzig tapfere Männer; mögen sie doch gehen und deinen Herrn suchen, ob nicht etwa der Geist Jehovas ihn weggetragen und ihn auf einen der Berge oder in eins der Täler geworfen hat. Aber er sprach: Sendet nicht.
And they said to him, Behold now, [there are] with your servants fifty men of strength: let them go now, and seek your lord: perhaps the Spirit of the Lord has taken him up, and cast him into Jordan, or on one of the mountains, or on one of the hills. And Elisaie said, You shall not send.
17 Und sie drangen in ihn, bis er sich schämte. Da sprach er: Sendet! Und so sandten sie fünfzig Mann; und sie suchten drei Tage lang, aber sie fanden ihn nicht.
And they pressed him until he was ashamed; and he said, Send. And they sent fifty men, and sought three days, and found him not.
18 Und sie kehrten zu ihm zurück (er verweilte aber noch in Jericho); und er sprach zu ihnen: Habe ich euch nicht gesagt: Gehet nicht hin?
And they returned to him, for he lived in Jericho: and Elisaie said, Did I not say to you, Go not?
19 Und die Männer der Stadt sprachen zu Elisa: Siehe doch, die Lage der Stadt ist gut, wie mein Herr sieht, aber das Wasser ist schlecht, und das Land ist unfruchtbar.
And the men of the city said to Elisaie, Behold, the situation of the city [is] good, as [our] lord sees; but the waters [are] bad, and the ground barren.
20 Da sprach er: Holet mir eine neue Schale, und tut Salz darein! Und sie holten sie ihm.
And Elisaie said, Bring me a new pitcher, and put salt in it. And they took [one], and brought [it] to him.
21 Und er ging hinaus zu der Quelle des Wassers, und warf das Salz hinein und sprach: So spricht Jehova: Ich habe dieses Wasser gesund gemacht; es wird weder Tod noch Unfruchtbarkeit mehr daraus entstehen.
And Elisaie went out to the spring of the waters, and cast salt therein, and says, Thus says the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be any longer death thence or barren [land].
22 Und das Wasser wurde gesund bis auf diesen Tag, nach dem Worte, das Elisa geredet hatte.
And the waters were healed until this day, according to the word of Elisaie which he spoke.
23 Und er ging von dannen hinauf nach Bethel; und als er auf dem Wege hinaufging, da kamen kleine Knaben aus der Stadt heraus, und verspotteten ihn und sprachen zu ihm: Komm herauf, Kahlkopf! Komm herauf, Kahlkopf!
And he went up thence to Baethel: and as he was going up by the way there came up also little children from the city, and mocked him, and said to him, Go up, bald-head, go up.
24 Und er wandte sich um und sah sie an und fluchte ihnen im Namen Jehovas. Da kamen zwei Bären aus dem Walde und zerrissen von ihnen zweiundvierzig Kinder.
And he turned after them, and saw them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And, behold, there came out two bears out of the wood, and they tore forty and two children of them.
25 Und er ging von dannen nach dem Berge Karmel; und von dort kehrte er nach Samaria zurück.
And he went thence to mount Carmel, and returned thence to Samaria.
