1 Und als Athalja, die Mutter Ahasjas, sah, daß ihr Sohn tot war, da machte sie sich auf und brachte allen königlichen Samen um.

And Athaliah [the] mother of Ahaziah (she saw *Q(K)*) that he was dead son her and she arose and she destroyed all [the] offspring of royalty.

2 Aber Joseba, die Tochter des Königs Joram, die Schwester Ahasjas, nahm Joas, den Sohn Ahasjas, und stahl ihn weg aus der Mitte der Königssöhne, die getötet wurden, und tat ihn und seine Amme in das Schlafgemach; und so verbargen sie ihn vor Athalja, und er wurde nicht getötet.

And she took Jehosheba [the] daughter of the king Joram [the] sister of Ahaziah Joash [the] son of Ahaziah and she stole him from among [the] sons of the king (who were about to be put to death *Q(K)*) him and suckling-nurse his in [the] chamber of the beds and they hid him from before Athaliah and not he was put to death.

3 Und er war sechs Jahre bei ihr im Hause Jehovas versteckt. Athalja aber regierte über das Land.

And he was with her [the] house of Yahweh hiding himself six years and Athaliah [was] reigning over the land.

4 Und im siebten Jahre sandte Jojada hin und ließ die Obersten über hundert der Karier und der Läufer holen und zu sich in das Haus Jehovas kommen; und er machte einen Bund mit ihnen und ließ sie schwören im Hause Jehovas, und er zeigte ihnen den Sohn des Königs.

And in the year seventh he sent Jehoiada and he took - [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) of the Carian[s] and of the runners and he brought them to himself [the] house of Yahweh and he made to them a covenant and he made to swear an oath with them in [the] house of Yahweh and he showed them [the] son of the king.

5 Und er gebot ihnen und sprach: Dies ist es, was ihr tun sollt: Ein Drittel von euch, die ihr am Sabbath antretet, soll Wache halten im Hause des Königs,

And he commanded them saying this [is] the thing which you will do! the third [part] of you [who] come the sabbath and [who] keep [the] watch of [the] house of the king.

6 und ein Drittel soll am Tore Sur, und ein Drittel am Tore hinter den Läufern sein; und ihr sollt der Hut des Hauses warten zur Abwehr.

And the third [part] [will be] at [the] gate of Sur and the third [part] [will be] at the gate behind the runners and you will keep [the] watch of the house by turns.

7 Und die zwei anderen Abteilungen von euch, alle, die am Sabbath abtreten, die sollen im Hause Jehovas Wache halten bei dem König.

And [the] two the hands in you all [those who] go out the sabbath and they will keep [the] watch of [the] house of Yahweh to the king.

8 Und ihr sollt den König rings umgeben, ein jeder mit seinen Waffen in seiner Hand; und wer in die Reihen eindringt, soll getötet werden; und ihr sollt bei dem König sein, wenn er ausgeht und wenn er eingeht.

And you will surround the king all around everyone and weapons his in hand his and the [one who] comes into the ranks he will be put to death and be with the king when goes out he and when comes he.

9 Und die Obersten über hundert taten nach allem, was der Priester Jojada geboten hatte; und sie nahmen ein jeder seine Männer, die am Sabbath antretenden samt den am Sabbath abtretenden, und kamen zu dem Priester Jojada.

And they did [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) according to all that he commanded Jehoiada the priest and they took each men his [those who] came the sabbath with [those who] went out the sabbath and they came to Jehoiada the priest.

10 Und der Priester gab den Obersten über hundert die Speere und die Schilde, welche dem König David gehört hatten, die im Hause Jehovas waren.

And he gave the priest to [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) the spear and the shields which [had belonged] to the king David which [were] in [the] house of Yahweh.

11 Und die Läufer stellten sich auf, ein jeder mit seinen Waffen in seiner Hand, von der rechten Seite des Hauses bis zur linken Seite des Hauses, gegen den Altar und gegen das Haus hin, rings um den König.

And they stood the runners everyone - and weapons his in hand his from [the] side of the house south to [the] side of the house north to the altar and to the house at the king all around.

12 Und er führte den Sohn des Königs heraus und setzte ihm die Krone auf und gab ihm das Zeugnis, und sie machten ihn zum König und salbten ihn; und sie klatschten in die Hände und riefen: Es lebe der König!

And he brought out [the] son of the king and he put on him the crown and the testimony and they made king him and they anointed him and they struck a palm and they said may he live the king.

13 Und als Athalja das Geschrei der Läufer und des Volkes hörte, kam sie zu dem Volke in das Haus Jehovas.

And she heard Athaliah [the] sound of the runners the people and she went to the people [the] house of Yahweh.

14 Und sie sah: und siehe, der König stand auf dem Standorte, nach dem Gebrauch, und die Obersten und die Trompeter bei dem König; und alles Volk des Landes war fröhlich und stieß in die Trompeten. Da zerriß Athalja ihre Kleider und rief: Verschwörung, Verschwörung!

And she saw and there! the king [was] standing at the pillar according to the custom and the commanders and the trumpets [were] with the king and all [the] people of the land [was] joyful and [was] giving a blast on trumpets and she tore Athaliah clothes her and she called out treason treason.

15 Und der Priester Jojada gebot den Obersten über hundert, die über das Heer bestellt waren, und sprach zu ihnen: Führet sie hinaus außerhalb der Reihen, und wer ihr folgt, den tötet mit dem Schwerte! Denn der Priester sprach: Sie soll nicht in dem Hause Jehovas getötet werden.

And he commanded Jehoiada the priest [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) [the] officers of the army and he said to them bring out her to from between to the ranks and the [one who] comes behind her put to death with the sword for he had said the priest may not she be put to death [the] house of Yahweh.

16 Und sie machten ihr Platz, und sie ging in das Haus des Königs auf dem Wege des Eingangs für die Rosse; und sie wurde daselbst getötet.

And they put to her hands and she went [the] way of [the] entrance of the horses [the] house of the king and she was put to death there.

17 Und Jojada machte einen Bund zwischen Jehova und dem König und dem Volke, daß sie das Volk Jehovas sein sollten, und zwischen dem König und dem Volke.

And he made Jehoiada the covenant between Yahweh and between the king and between the people to become a people of Yahweh and between the king and between the people.

18 Da ging alles Volk des Landes in das Haus des Baal und riß es nieder; seine Altäre und seine Bilder zerschlugen sie gänzlich; und Mattan, den Priester des Baal, töteten sie vor den Altären. Und der Priester setzte Aufseher über das Haus Jehovas.

And they went all [the] people of the land [the] house of Baal and they pulled down it (altars its *Q(K)*) and images its they broke thoroughly and Mattan [the] priest of Baal they killed before the altars and he appointed the priest overseers over [the] house of Yahweh.

19 Und er nahm die Obersten über hundert und die Karier und die Läufer und alles Volk des Landes, und sie führten den König aus dem Hause Jehovas hinab und kamen auf dem Wege des Läufertores in das Haus des Königs; und er setzte sich auf den Thron der Könige.

And he took [the] commanders of the hundreds and the Carian[s] and the runners and - all [the] people of the land and they took down the king from [the] house of Yahweh and they came [the] way of [the] gate of the runners [the] house of the king and he sat on [the] throne of the kings.

20 Und alles Volk des Landes freute sich, und die Stadt hatte Ruhe. Athalja aber hatten sie im Hause des Königs mit dem Schwerte getötet.

And it rejoiced all [the] people of the land and the city it was at peace and Athaliah they had put to death with the sword [the] house of (the king. *Q(K)*)

21 Sieben Jahre war Joas alt, als er König wurde.
