2 Korinther 2

1 Ich habe aber bei mir selbst dieses beschlossen, nicht wieder in Traurigkeit zu euch zu kommen.

But I determined this with myself, that my next visit to you should not be in sorrow.

2 Denn wenn ich euch traurig mache, wer ist es auch, der mich fröhlich mache, wenn nicht der, welcher durch mich traurig gemacht wird?

For if I make you sorrowful, who is there to make me glad but he that is made sorrowful by me?

3 Und eben dieses habe ich [euch] geschrieben, auf daß ich nicht, wenn ich komme, von denen Traurigkeit habe, deren ich mich freuen sollte; indem ich euch allen vertraue, daß meine Freude die euer aller ist.

And I wrote about this very matter, that I might not on my coming have sorrow from those who ought to gladden me, having confidence in all of you, that my joy is the joy of you all.

4 Denn aus vieler Drangsal und Herzensangst schrieb ich euch mit vielen Tränen, nicht auf daß ihr traurig gemacht werden solltet, sondern auf daß ihr die Liebe erkennen möchtet, die ich überschwenglicher zu euch habe.

For out of much distress and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears, not that ye should be made sorrowful, but that ye might know the exceeding love which I have for you.

5 Wenn aber jemand traurig gemacht hat, so hat er nicht mich traurig gemacht, sondern in gewissem Maße (auf daß ich nicht beschwere) euch alle.

But if any one hath caused grief, he hath caused it not to me alone, but in a measure, not to be too severe on him, to all of you.

6 Genügend ist einem solchen diese Strafe,

Sufficient for such a one is this punishment, which was inflicted by the many;

7 die von den vielen ist, so daß ihr im Gegenteil vielmehr vergeben und ermuntern solltet, damit nicht etwa ein solcher durch übermäßige Traurigkeit verschlungen werde.

so that on the contrary ye ought rather to forgive, and console him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

8 Darum ermahne ich euch, Liebe gegen ihn zu betätigen.

Wherefore I beseech you to confirm your love toward him.

9 Denn dazu habe ich auch geschrieben, auf daß ich eure Bewährung kennen lerne, ob ihr in allem gehorsam seid.

For to this end also I wrote, that I might know by putting it to the proof, whether ye are obedient in all things.

10 Wem ihr aber etwas vergebet, dem vergebe auch ich; denn auch ich, was ich vergeben, wenn ich etwas vergeben habe, habe ich um euretwillen vergeben in der Person Christi,

But to whom ye forgive anything, I forgive also; for what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, for your sakes I forgave it in the person of Christ,

11 auf daß wir nicht vom Satan übervorteilt werden; denn seine Gedanken sind uns nicht unbekannt.

that Satan might not gain an advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

12 Als ich aber nach Troas kam für das Evangelium des Christus und mir eine Tür aufgetan wurde im Herrn,

Now when I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, and a door had been opened to me by the Lord,

13 hatte ich keine Ruhe in meinem Geiste, weil ich Titus, meinen Bruder, nicht fand, sondern ich nahm Abschied von ihnen und zog fort nach Macedonien.

I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I went forth into Macedonia.

14 Gott aber sei Dank, der uns allezeit im Triumphzuge umherführt in Christo und den Geruch seiner Erkenntnis an jedem Orte durch uns offenbart!

But thanks be to God, who always exhibiteth us in triumph in Christ, and manifesteth through us the odor of the knowledge of him in every place.

15 Denn wir sind Gott ein Wohlgeruch Christi in denen, die errettet werden, und in denen, die verloren gehen;

For we are to God a sweet odor of Christ among those who are being saved, and those who are perishing;

16 den einen ein Geruch vom Tode zum Tode, den anderen aber ein Geruch vom Leben zum Leben. Und wer ist dazu tüchtig?

to the latter we are the odor of death, producing death; and to the former the odor of life, producing life. And who is sufficient for these things?

17 Denn wir verfälschen nicht, wie die vielen, das Wort Gottes, sondern als aus Lauterkeit, sondern als aus Gott, vor Gott, reden wir in Christo.

For we are not as the many, who adulterate the word of God; but as from sincerity, but as from God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.
