1 Und im achtzehnten Jahre des Königs Jerobeam, des Sohnes Nebats, wurde Abijam König über Juda.

And in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam has reigned over Judah;

2 Er regierte drei Jahre zu Jerusalem; und der Name seiner Mutter war Maaka, die Tochter Absaloms.

he has reigned three years in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Maachah daughter of Abishalom;

3 Und er wandelte in allen Sünden seines Vaters, welche dieser vor ihm getan hatte; und sein Herz war nicht ungeteilt mit Jehova, seinem Gott, wie das Herz seines Vaters David.

and he walks in all the sins of his father that he did before him, and his heart has not been perfect with his God YHWH, as the heart of his father David;

4 Dennoch gab ihm Jehova, sein Gott, um Davids willen eine Leuchte in Jerusalem, indem er seinen Sohn nach ihm erweckte und Jerusalem bestehen ließ;

but for David’s sake his God YHWH has given to him a lamp in Jerusalem, to raise up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem,

5 weil David getan hatte, was recht war in den Augen Jehovas und von allem, was er ihm geboten hatte, nicht abgewichen war alle Tage seines Lebens, außer in der Sache Urijas, des Hethiters.

in that David did that which [is] right in the eyes of YHWH, and did not turn aside from all that He commanded him all [the] days of his life—except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite;

6 Und es war Krieg zwischen Rehabeam und Jerobeam alle Tage seines Lebens.

and there has been war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

7 Und das Übrige der Geschichte Abijams und alles, was er getan hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in dem Buche der Chronika der Könige von Juda? Und es war Krieg zwischen Abijam und Jerobeam.

And the rest of the matters of Abijam and all that he did, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there has been war between Abijam and Jeroboam;

8 Und Abijam legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn in der Stadt Davids. Und Asa, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.

and Abijam lies with his fathers, and they bury him in the City of David, and his son Asa reigns in his stead.

9 Und im zwanzigsten Jahre Jerobeams, des Königs von Israel, wurde Asa König über Juda.

And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa has reigned over Judah,

10 Und er regierte einundvierzig Jahre zu Jerusalem; und der Name seiner Mutter war Maaka, die Tochter Absaloms.

and he has reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Maachah daughter of Abishalom.

11 Und Asa tat, was recht war in den Augen Jehovas, wie sein Vater David.

And Asa does that which [is] right in the eyes of YHWH, like his father David,

12 Und er schaffte die Buhler aus dem Lande und tat alle Götzen hinweg, die seine Väter gemacht hatten.

and removes the whoremongers out of the land, and turns aside all the idols that his fathers made;

13 Und auch Maaka, seine Mutter, die setzte er ab, daß sie nicht mehr Königin wäre, weil sie der Aschera ein Götzenbild gemacht hatte; und Asa rottete ihr Götzenbild aus und verbrannte es im Tale Kidron.

and also his mother Maachah—he turns her aside from being mistress, in that she made a horrible thing for an Asherah, and Asa cuts down her horrible thing, and burns [it] by the Brook of Kidron;

14 Die Höhen aber wichen nicht; doch das Herz Asas war ungeteilt mit Jehova alle seine Tage.

but the high places have not been removed; only, the heart of Asa has been perfect with YHWH [for] all his days,

15 Und er brachte die geheiligten Dinge seines Vaters und seine geheiligten Dinge in das Haus Jehovas: Silber und Gold und Geräte.

and he brings in the sanctified things of his father, and his own sanctified things, to the house of YHWH: silver, and gold, and vessels.

16 Und es war Krieg zwischen Asa und Baesa, dem König von Israel, alle ihre Tage.

And there has been war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel [for] all their days,

17 Und Baesa, der König von Israel, zog wider Juda herauf; und er baute Rama, um Asa, dem König von Juda, niemand aus-und eingehen zu lassen.

and Baasha king of Israel goes up against Judah, and builds Ramah, not to permit anyone going out and coming in to Asa king of Judah.

18 Da nahm Asa alles Silber und Gold, das in den Schätzen des Hauses Jehovas übrig war, und die Schätze des Hauses des Königs, und gab sie in die Hand seiner Knechte; und der König Asa sandte sie zu Ben-Hadad, dem Sohne Tabrimmons, des Sohnes Hesjons, dem König von Syrien, der zu Damaskus wohnte, und ließ ihm sagen:

And Asa takes all the silver and the gold that are left in the treasures of the house of YHWH, and the treasures of the house of the king, and gives them into the hand of his servants, and King Asa sends them to Ben-Hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion king of Aram, who is dwelling in Damascus, saying,

19 Ein Bund ist zwischen mir und dir, zwischen meinem Vater und deinem Vater. Siehe, ich sende dir ein Geschenk an Silber und Gold: Wohlan! Brich deinen Bund mit Baesa, dem König von Israel, daß er von mir abziehe.

“A covenant [is] between me and you, between my father and your father; behold, I have sent a reward of silver and gold to you; go, break your covenant with Baasha king of Israel, and he goes up from off me.”

20 Und Ben-Hadad hörte auf den König Asa, und er sandte seine Heerobersten wider die Städte Israels und schlug Ijon und Dan und Abel-Beth-Maaka, und ganz Kinneroth nebst dem ganzen Lande Naphtali.

And Ben-Hadad listens to King Asa, and sends the heads of the forces that he has against cities of Israel, and strikes Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and all Chinneroth, besides all the land of Naphtali;

21 Und es geschah, als Baesa es hörte, da ließ er von dem Bau Ramas ab und blieb in Tirza.

and it comes to pass at Baasha’s hearing, that he ceases from building Ramah, and dwells in Tirzah.

22 Der König Asa aber ließ ganz Juda aufrufen, keiner war frei; und sie schafften die Steine Ramas und das Holz weg, womit Baesa gebaut hatte; und der König Asa baute damit Geba-Benjamin und Mizpa.

And King Asa has summoned all Judah—there is none exempt—and they lift up the stones of Ramah, and its wood, that Baasha has built, and King Asa builds with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

23 Und das Übrige der ganzen Geschichte Asas und alle seine Macht, und alles, was er getan, und die Städte, die er gebaut hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in dem Buche der Chronika der Könige von Juda? Doch zur Zeit seines Alters erkrankte er an seinen Füßen.

And the rest of all the matters of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? Only, at the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet;

24 Und Asa legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und er wurde bei seinen Vätern begraben in der Stadt seines Vaters David. Und Josaphat, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.

and Asa lies with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of his father David, and his son Jehoshaphat reigns in his stead.

25 Und Nadab, der Sohn Jerobeams, wurde König über Israel im zweiten Jahre Asas, des Königs von Juda; und er regierte zwei Jahre über Israel.

And Nadab son of Jeroboam has reigned over Israel, in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigns over Israel two years,

26 Und er tat, was böse war in den Augen Jehovas, und wandelte auf dem Wege seines Vaters und in seiner Sünde, wodurch er Israel sündigen gemacht hatte.

and does evil in the eyes of YHWH, and goes in the way of his father, and in his sin that he made Israel to sin.

27 Und Basea, der Sohn Achijas, vom Hause Issaschar, machte eine Verschwörung wider ihn; und Basea erschlug ihn zu Gibbethon, welches den Philistern gehörte, als Nadab und ganz Israel Gibbethon belagerten.

And Baasha son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspires against him, and Baasha strikes him in Gibbethon, which [belonged] to the Philistines—and Nadab and all Israel are laying siege against Gibbethon—

28 Und Baesa tötete ihn im dritten Jahre Asas, des Königs von Juda, und ward König an seiner Statt.

indeed, Baasha puts him to death in the third year of Asa king of Judah, and reigns in his stead.

29 Und es geschah, sobald er König geworden war, erschlug er das ganze Haus Jerobeams; er ließ von Jerobeam nichts übrig, was Odem hatte, bis er ihn vertilgt hatte, nach dem Worte Jehovas, das er durch seinen Knecht Achija, den Siloniter, geredet hatte:

And it comes to pass, at his reigning, he has struck the whole house of Jeroboam, he has not left any breathing to Jeroboam until his destroying him, according to the word of YHWH, that He spoke by the hand of His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,

30 wegen der Sünden Jerobeams, die er begangen und wodurch er Israel sündigen gemacht, durch seine Reizung, wodurch er Jehova, den Gott Israels, gereizt hatte.

because of the sins of Jeroboam that he sinned, and that he caused Israel to sin, by his provocation with which he provoked YHWH, God of Israel, to anger.

31 Und das Übrige der Geschichte Nadabs und alles, was er getan hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in dem Buche der Chronika der Könige von Israel?

And the rest of the matters of Nadab and all that he did, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

32 Und es war Krieg zwischen Asa und Baesa, dem König von Israel, alle ihre Tage.

And there has been war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel [for] all their days.

33 Im dritten Jahre Asas, des Königs von Juda, wurde Baesa, der Sohn Achijas, König über ganz Israel zu Tirza, vierundzwanzig Jahre.

In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah has reigned over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty-four years,

34 Und er tat, was böse war in den Augen Jehovas und wandelte auf den Wegen Jerobeams und in seiner Sünde, wodurch er Israel sündigen gemacht hatte.

and he does evil in the eyes of YHWH, and walks in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin that he caused Israel to sin.
