1 Und siehe, ein Mann Gottes kam aus Juda, durch das Wort Jehovas, nach Bethel, und Jerobeam stand bei dem Altar, um zu räuchern.
And beholde, there came a man of God out of Iudah (by the commandement of the Lord) vnto Beth-el, and Ieroboam stoode by the altar to offer incense.
2 Und er rief aus wider den Altar durch das Wort Jehovas und sprach: Altar, Altar! So spricht Jehova: Siehe, ein Sohn wird dem Hause Davids geboren werden, Josia sein Name; und er wird auf dir die Priester der Höhen schlachten, die auf dir räuchern, und man wird Menschengebeine auf dir verbrennen!
And he cryed against the altar by the comandement of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord, Beholde, a child shalbe borne vnto the house of Dauid, Iosiah by name, and vpon thee shall he sacrifice the Priestes of the hie places that burne incense vpon thee, and they shall burne mens bones vpon thee.
3 Und er gab an selbigem Tage ein Zeichen und sprach: Dies ist das Zeichen, von dem Jehova geredet hat: Siehe, der Altar wird reißen und die Fettasche, die darauf ist, verschüttet werden.
And he gaue a signe the same time, saying, This is the signe, that the Lord hath spoken, Behold, the altar shall rent, and the ashes that are vpon it, shall fall out.
4 Und es geschah, als der König das Wort des Mannes Gottes hörte, das er wider den Altar zu Bethel ausgerufen hatte, da streckte Jerobeam seine Hand aus von dem Altar herab und sprach: Greifet ihn! Da verdorrte seine Hand, die er wider ihn ausgestreckt hatte, und er konnte sie nicht wieder an sich ziehen.
And when the King had heard the saying of the man of God, which he had cryed against the altar in Beth-el, Ieroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying, Lay holde on him: but his hande which he put foorth against him, dryed vp, and he could not pull it in againe to him.
5 Und der Altar riß, und die Fettasche wurde vom Altar verschüttet, nach dem Zeichen, welches der Mann Gottes durch das Wort Jehovas gegeben hatte.
The altar also claue asunder, and the ashes fell out from the altar, according to the signe, which the man of God had giuen by the commandement of the Lord.
6 Da antwortete der König und sprach zu dem Manne Gottes: Flehe doch Jehova, deinen Gott, an und bete für mich, daß meine Hand mir wiedergegeben werde. Und der Mann Gottes flehte Jehova an, und die Hand des Königs wurde ihm wiedergegeben und war wie zuvor.
Then the King answered, and saide vnto the man of God, I beseeche thee, pray vnto ye Lord thy God, and make intercession for me, that mine hand may bee restored vnto me. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the Kings hand was restored, and became as it was afore.
7 Und der König redete zu dem Manne Gottes: Komm mit mir ins Haus und stärke dich, und ich will dir ein Geschenk geben.
Then the King sayde vnto the man of God, Come home with mee, that thou mayest dyne, and I will giue thee a reward.
8 Aber der Mann Gottes sprach zu dem König: Wenn du mir die Hälfte deines Hauses gäbest, so würde ich nicht mit dir hingehen; und ich werde kein Brot essen und kein Wasser trinken an diesem Orte.
But the man of God saide vnto the King, If thou wouldest giue me halfe thine house, I would not goe in with thee, neither woulde I eate bread nor drinke water in this place.
9 Denn also ist mir geboten worden durch das Wort Jehovas und gesagt: Du sollst kein Brot essen und kein Wasser trinken, und du sollst nicht auf dem Wege zurückkehren, den du gegangen bist.
For so was it charged mee by the worde of the Lord, saying, Eate no bread nor drinke water, nor turne againe by the same way that thou camest.
10 Und er ging auf einem anderen Wege und kehrte nicht auf dem Wege zurück, auf welchem er nach Bethel gekommen war.
So he went another way and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.
11 Ein alter Prophet aber wohnte zu Bethel; und einer seiner Söhne kam und erzählte ihm alles, was der Mann Gottes an dem Tage zu Bethel getan hatte; die Worte, die er zum König geredet hatte, die erzählten sie auch ihrem Vater.
And an olde Prophet dwelt in Beth-el, and his sonnes came and tolde him all ye woorkes, that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el, and the wordes which he had spoken vnto the King, tolde they their father.
12 Und ihr Vater sprach zu ihnen: Welchen Weg ist er gegangen? Und seine Söhne hatten den Weg gesehen, den der Mann Gottes gegangen, der aus Juda gekommen war.
And their father sayde vnto them, What way went he? and his sonnes shewed him what waye the man of God went, which came from Iudah.
13 Da sprach er zu seinen Söhnen: Sattelt mir den Esel! Und sie sattelten ihm den Esel, und er ritt darauf.
And hee saide vnto his sonnes, Saddle mee the asse. Who sadled him the asse, and hee rode thereon,
14 Und er ritt dem Manne Gottes nach und fand ihn unter einer Terebinthe sitzen; und er sprach zu ihm: Bist du der Mann Gottes, der von Juda gekommen ist? Und er sprach: Ich bin's.
And went after the man of God, and found him sitting vnder an oke: and he saide vnto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Iudah? And he sayd, Yea.
15 Da sprach er zu ihm: Komm mit mir nach Hause und iß Brot.
Then he said vnto him, Come home with me, and eate bread.
16 Er aber sprach: Ich kann nicht mit dir umkehren und mit dir hineingehen, und ich werde kein Brot essen und kein Wasser mit dir trinken an diesem Orte.
But he answered, I may not returne with thee, nor go in with thee, neither wil I eate bread nor drinke water with thee in this place.
17 Denn ein Wort ist zu mir geschehen durch das Wort Jehovas: Du sollst kein Brot essen und kein Wasser daselbst trinken; du sollst nicht auf dem Wege zurückkehren, auf welchem du gegangen bist.
For it was charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Thou shalt eate no bread, nor drinke water there, nor turne againe to goe by the way that thou wentest.
18 Und er sprach zu ihm: Auch ich bin ein Prophet, wie du; und ein Engel hat zu mir geredet durch das Wort Jehovas und gesagt: Bringe ihn mit dir in dein Haus zurück, daß er Brot esse und Wasser trinke. Er belog ihn.
And he said vnto him, I am a Prophet also as thou art, and an Angel spake vnto me by the worde of the Lord, saying, Bring him againe with thee into thine house, that hee may eate bread and drinke water: but he lyed vnto him.
19 Da kehrte er mit ihm zurück, und aß Brot in seinem Hause und trank Wasser.
So he went againe with him, and did eate bread in his house, and dranke water.
20 Und es geschah, während sie zu Tische saßen, da geschah das Wort Jehovas zu dem Propheten, der ihn zurückgebracht hatte.
And as they sate at the table, the worde of the Lord came vnto the Prophet, that brought him againe.
21 Und er rief dem Manne Gottes zu, der aus Juda gekommen war, und sprach: So spricht Jehova: Darum daß du gegen den Befehl Jehovas widerspenstig gewesen bist und nicht beobachtet hast das Gebot, das Jehova, dein Gott, dir geboten hat,
And hee cried vnto the man of God that came from Iudah, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Because thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandement which the Lord thy God commanded thee,
22 und bist umgekehrt und hast Brot gegessen und Wasser getrunken an dem Orte, von welchem er zu dir geredet hat: Iß kein Brot und trinke kein Wasser! So soll dein Leichnam nicht in das Grab deiner Väter kommen.
But camest backe againe, and hast eaten bread and drunke water in the place (whereof he did say vnto thee, Thou shalt eate no bread nor drinke any water) thy carkeis shall not come vnto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
23 Und es geschah, nachdem er Brot gegessen und nachdem er getrunken hatte, da sattelte er ihm, dem Propheten, den er zurückgebracht hatte, den Esel.
And when he had eaten bread and drunke, he sadled him the asse, to wit, to the Prophet whome he had brought againe.
24 Und er zog fort; und es fand ihn ein Löwe auf dem Wege und tötete ihn. Und sein Leichnam lag hingestreckt auf dem Wege, und der Esel stand daneben, und der Löwe stand neben dem Leichnam.
And when hee was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slewe him, and his body was cast in the way, and the asse stoode thereby: the lion stood by the corps also.
25 Und siehe, da gingen Leute vorüber und sahen den Leichnam hingestreckt auf dem Wege, und den Löwen neben dem Leichnam stehen; und sie kamen und sagten es in der Stadt, in welcher der alte Prophet wohnte.
And beholde, men that passed by, sawe the carkeis cast in the way, and the lion standing by the corps: and they came and tolde it in ye towne where the olde Prophet dwelt.
26 Als nun der Prophet, der ihn von dem Wege zurückgeführt hatte, es hörte, sprach er: Das ist der Mann Gottes, der gegen den Befehl Jehovas widerspenstig gewesen ist; und so hat Jehova ihn dem Löwen preisgegeben: der hat ihn zerrissen und getötet, nach dem Worte Jehovas, das er zu ihm geredet hat.
And when the Prophet that brought him backe againe from the waye, hearde thereof, hee sayde, It is the man of God, who hath bene disobedient vnto the commandement of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath deliuered him vnto the lion, which hath rent him and slayne him, according to the worde of the Lord, which hee spake vnto him.
27 Und er redete zu seinen Söhnen und sprach: Sattelt mir den Esel! Und sie sattelten ihn.
And he spake to his sonnes, saying, Saddle me the asse. And they sadled him.
28 Und er ritt hin und fand seinen Leichnam hingestreckt auf dem Wege, und den Esel und den Löwen neben dem Leichnam stehen; der Löwe hatte den Leichnam nicht gefressen und den Esel nicht zerrissen.
And he went and founde his body cast in the way, and the asse and the lion stoode by the corps: and the lion had not eaten the bodie, nor torne the asse.
29 Und der Prophet hob den Leichnam des Mannes Gottes auf und legte ihn auf den Esel und brachte ihn zurück. Und er kam in die Stadt des alten Propheten, um ihn zu beklagen und zu begraben.
And the Prophet tooke vp the body of the man of God, and layed it vpon the asse, and brought it againe, and the olde Prophet came to the citie, to lament and burie him.
30 Und er legte seinen Leichnam in sein eigenes Grab; und man klagte über ihn: Ach, mein Bruder!
And hee layed his bodie in his owne graue, and they lamented ouer him, saying, Alas, my brother.
31 Und es geschah, nachdem er ihn begraben hatte, da sprach er zu seinen Söhnen und sagte: Wenn ich gestorben bin, so begrabet mich in dem Grabe, in welchem der Mann Gottes begraben ist; leget meine Gebeine neben seine Gebeine.
And when he had buried him, hee spake to his sonnes, saying, When I am dead, burie ye mee also in the sepulchre, wherein the man of God is buried: lay my bones beside his bones.
32 Denn das Wort wird gewißlich geschehen, welches er durch das Wort Jehovas ausgerufen hat wider den Altar, der zu Bethel ist, und wider alle Höhenhäuser, die in den Städten Samarias sind.
For that thing which he cried by the word of the Lord against the altar that is in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the hie places, which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to passe.
33 Nach dieser Begebenheit kehrte Jerobeam nicht um von seinem bösen Wege; und er machte wiederum aus sämtlichem Volke Priester der Höhen: wer Lust hatte, den weihte er, daß er ein Priester der Höhen würde.
Howbeit after this, Ieroboam conuerted not from his wicked way, but turned againe, and made of the lowest of the people Priests of the hie places. Who would, might consecrate him selfe, and be of the Priestes of the hie places.
34 Und diese Sache wurde dem Hause Jerobeams zur Sünde, und zur Vertilgung und zur Vernichtung vom Erdboden hinweg.
And this thing turned to sinne vnto the house of Ieroboam, euen to roote it out, and destroy it from the face of the earth.
