Psalm 94
1 Gott [El] der Rache, [Eig. der Rachen, d. h. der Rache-Vollstreckungen] Jehova, Gott [El] der Rache, strahle hervor!
O God, of vengeance, Lord! O God of vengeance, shine forth.
2 Erhebe dich, Richter der Erde, vergilt den Hoffärtigen ihr Tun!
Lift up thyself, O judge of the Earth! bring a recompense upon the proud.
3 Bis wann werden die Gesetzlosen, Jehova, bis wann werden die Gesetzlosen frohlocken,
How long shall the wicked, O Lord—how long shall the wicked exult?
4 Werden übersprudeln, Freches reden, sich rühmen alle, die Frevel tun?
They sputter, they speak hard things: all the workers of wickedness boast themselves.
5 Dein Volk, Jehova, zertreten und dein Erbteil bedrücken sie.
Thy people, O Lord! they crush, and thy heritage they afflict.
6 Sie töten die Witwe und den Fremdling, und sie ermorden die Waisen,
The widow and the stranger they slay, and the fatherless they murder.
7 Und sagen: Jah sieht es nicht, und der Gott Jakobs merkt es nicht.
And they say, The Lord will not see, and the God of Jacob will not take notice of it.
8 Habet Einsicht, ihr Unvernünftigen unter dem Volke! und ihr Toren, wann werdet ihr verständig werden?
Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye become intelligent!
9 Der das Ohr gepflanzt hat, sollte er nicht hören? der das Auge gebildet, sollte er nicht sehen?
He that hath planted the ear, shall he not hear? or he that hath formed the eye, shall he not see?
10 Der die Nationen zurechtweist, [O. züchtigt, wie v 12] sollte er nicht strafen, er, der Erkenntnis lehrt den Menschen?
He that admonisheth nations, shall he not correct? is it not he that teacheth man knowledge!
11 Jehova kennt die Gedanken des Menschen, daß sie Eitelkeit [Eig. ein Hauch] sind.
The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are nought.
12 Glückselig der Mann, den du züchtigst, Jehova, [Hebr. Jah] und den du belehrst aus deinem Gesetz,
Happy is the man whom thou admonisheth, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law:
13 um ihm Ruhe zu geben vor den bösen Tagen, bis dem Gesetzlosen die Grube gegraben wird!
That thou mayest grant him repose from the days of evil, until the pot be dug for the wicked.
14 Denn Jehova wird sein Volk nicht verstoßen, und nicht verlassen sein Erbteil;
For the Lord will not cast off his people, and his inheritance will he not forsake.
15 Denn zur Gerechtigkeit wird zurückkehren das Gericht, und alle von Herzen Aufrichtigen werden ihm [d. h. dem Gericht] folgen.
For unto righteousness will justice return; and it shall be followed by all the upright in heart.
16 Wer wird für mich aufstehen wider die Übeltäter? Wer wird für mich auftreten wider die, welche Frevel tun?
Who will rise up for me against evil-doers? or who will stand forward for me against the workers of wickedness?
17 Wäre nicht Jehova mir eine Hülfe gewesen, wenig fehlte, so hätte im Schweigen gewohnt meine Seele.
Unless the Lord had been a help unto me, but a little would have been wanting that my soul had dwelt in the silence of death.
18 Wenn ich sagte: Mein Fuß wankt, so unterstützte mich deine Güte, Jehova.
When I said, My foot hath slipped: thy kindness, O Lord, sustained me.
19 Bei der Menge meiner Gedanken [O. Sorgen, Kümmernisse] in meinem Innern erfüllten deine Tröstungen meine Seele mit Wonne.
In the multitude of my [painful] thoughts within me, thy consolations delight my soul.
20 Sollte mit dir vereint sein der Thron des Verderbens, der aus Frevel eine Satzung macht?
Can there be associated with thee the throne of destructive wickedness, which frameth mischief as a law?
21 Sie dringen ein auf die Seele des Gerechten, und unschuldiges Blut verurteilen sie.
They band themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and innocent blood do they condemn.
22 Doch Jehova ist meine hohe Feste, und mein Gott der Fels meiner Zuflucht.
But the Lord is become my defence, and my God, the rock of my refuge.
23 Und er läßt ihre Ungerechtigkeit auf sie zurückkehren, und durch [O. für] ihre Bosheit wird er sie vertilgen; vertilgen wird sie Jehova, unser Gott.
And he will bring back upon them their own injustice, and in their own wickedness will he destroy them: [yea], he will destroy them—the Lord our God.
