Psalm 89
1 [Ein Maskil; von Ethan, dem Esrachiter.] Die Gütigkeiten Jehovas will ich besingen ewiglich, von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht mit meinem Munde kundmachen deine Treue.
“A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrachite.” The kindnesses of the Lord will I for ever sing: from generation to generation will I make known thy faithfulness with my mouth.
2 Denn ich sagte: Auf ewig wird die Güte gebaut werden; die Himmel, in ihnen wirst du feststellen deine Treue.
For I have said, To eternity will kindness be built up: the heavens—yea, in these wilt thou establish thy faithfulness.
3 Einen Bund habe ich mit meinem Auserwählten gemacht, habe David, meinem Knechte, geschworen:
“I have made a covenant with my elect, I have sworn unto David my servant,
4 "Bis in Ewigkeit will ich feststellen deinen Samen, und auf alle Geschlechter hin bauen deinen Thron." (Sela)
Unto eternity will I establish thy seed, and I will build up thy throne, from generation to generation.” (Selah)
5 Und die Himmel werden deine Wunder preisen, Jehova, und deine Treue in der Versammlung der Heiligen.
And the heavens praise thy wonder, O Lord: also thy faithfulness in the assembly of holy ones.
6 Denn wer in den Wolken ist mit Jehova zu vergleichen? Wer ist Jehova gleich unter den Söhnen der Starken?
For who in the sky can be compared unto the Lord? who can be likened unto the Lord among the sons of the mighty?
7 Er ist ein Gott, [El] gar erschrecklich in der Versammlung [Eig. im vertrauten Kreise] der Heiligen, und furchtbar über alle, die rings um ihn her sind.
God is greatly terrific in the secret council of the holy ones and fear-inspiring over all that are about him.
8 Jehova, Gott der Heerscharen, wer ist mächtig wie du, o Jah? Und deine Treue ist rings um dich her.
O Lord God of hosts, who is powerful, like thee, Eternal! and thy faithfulness is round about thee.
9 Du beherrschest des Meeres Toben; [Eig. Übermut] erheben sich seine Wogen-du stillest sie.
Thou rulest over the pride of the sea: when its waves are lifted up, thou assuagest them.
10 Du hast Rahab [d. h. Ägypten] zertreten wie einen Erschlagenen; mit deinem starken Arme hast du deine Feinde zerstreut.
Thou didst crush Rahab as one that is slain: with thy strong arm didst thou scatter thy enemies.
11 Dein sind die Himmel und dein die Erde; der Erdkreis und seine Fülle, du hast sie gegründet.
Thine are the heavens, also thine is the earth: as for the world and what filleth it, thou hast founded them.
12 Norden und Süden, du hast sie erschaffen; Tabor und Hermon jubeln in deinem Namen. [O. wegen deines Namens]
The north and the south—these hast thou created: Tabor and Chermon shall rejoice in thy name.
13 Du hast einen gewaltigen Arm, stark ist deine Hand, hoch deine Rechte.
Thine is the powerful arm, with might: strong is thy hand, and exalted is thy right hand.
14 Gerechtigkeit und Gericht [O. Recht] sind deines Thrones Grundfeste; Güte und Wahrheit gehen vor deinem Angesicht her.
Righteousness and justice are the prop of thy throne: kindness and truth precede thy presence.
15 Glückselig das Volk, das den Jubelschall kennt! Jehova, im Lichte deines Angesichts wandeln sie.
Happy is the people that know the cornet's sound: O Lord, in the light of thy countenance will they ever walk firmly.
16 In deinem Namen [O. wegen deines Namens] frohlocken sie den ganzen Tag, und durch deine Gerechtigkeit werden sie erhöht.
In thy name will they be glad all the day, and in thy righteousness will they be exalted.
17 Denn die Zierde [O. der Ruhm, Stolz] ihrer Stärke bist du; und durch deine Gunst wird erhöht werden [Nach and. Lesart: wirst du erhöhen] unser Horn.
For thou art the glory of their strength; and through thy favor will our horn be exalted.
18 Denn Jehova [O. Jehovas] ist unser Schild, und der Heilige [O. des Heiligen] Israels unser König.
For of the Lord is our shield; and of the Holy One of Israel is our king.
19 Dazumal redetest du im Gesicht von deinem Frommen [Nach and. Lesart: zu deinen Frommen] und sagtest: Hülfe habe ich auf einen Mächtigen [O. Helden] gelegt, ich habe einen Auserwählten erhöht aus dem Volke.
Then spokest thou in a vision to thy pious [servant], and saidst, “I have bestowed help to one that is mighty; I have exalted a youth out of the people;
20 Ich habe David gefunden, meinen Knecht-mit meinem heiligen Öle habe ich ihn gesalbt-
I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him;
21 Mit welchem fest bleiben soll meine Hand, und mein Arm soll ihn stärken.
With whom my hand shall be firmly established; also my arm shall strengthen him;
22 Nicht soll ihn drängen [O. überfallen] der Feind, und der Sohn der Ungerechtigkeit ihn nicht bedrücken;
The enemy shall not exact from him like a lender: and the son of injustice shall not afflict him:
23 Und ich will seine Bedränger vor ihm zerschmettern, und seine Hasser will ich schlagen.
And I will beat down before his face his assailants, and those that hate him will I plague.
24 Und meine Treue und meine Güte werden mit ihm sein, und durch meinen Namen wird sein Horn erhöht werden.
But my faithfulness and my kindness shall be with him: and through my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 Und ich will seine Hand an das Meer legen, und seine Rechte an die Ströme.
And I will place on the sea his hand, and on the rivers his right hand.
26 Er wird mir zurufen: Mein Vater bist du, mein Gott, [El] und der Fels meiner Rettung!
He will call unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
27 So will auch ich ihn zum Erstgeborenen machen, zum Höchsten der Könige der Erde.
Also I will appoint my first-born, the highest among the kings of the earth.
28 Ewig will ich ihm meine Güte bewahren, und mein Bund soll ihm fest bleiben.
For evermore will I keep for him my kindness, and my covenant shall stand faithfully with him.
29 Und ich will seinen Samen einsetzen für immer, und seinen Thron wie die Tage der Himmel.
And I appoint for ever his seed, and his throne as the days of heaven.
30 Wenn seine Söhne mein Gesetz verlassen und nicht wandeln in meinen Rechten,
If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my ordinances;
31 Wenn sie meine Satzungen entweihen und meine Gebote nicht halten,
If they profane my statutes, and keep not my commandments:
32 So werde ich mit der Rute heimsuchen ihre Übertretung, und mit Schlägen ihre Ungerechtigkeit.
Then will I visit with the rod their transgressions, and with plagues their iniquity.
33 Aber meine Güte werde ich nicht von ihm weichen lassen, und nicht verleugnen meine Treue.
Nevertheless my kindness will I not make utterly void from him, and I will not act falsely against my faithfulness.
34 Nicht werde ich entweihen meinen Bund, und nicht ändern, was hervorgegangen ist aus meinen Lippen.
I will not profane my covenant, and what is gone out of my lips will I not alter.
35 Einmal [O. Eines] habe ich geschworen bei meiner Heiligkeit: Wenn ich dem David lüge!
One thing have I sworn by my holiness, that I will not lie unto David.
36 Sein Same wird ewig sein, und sein Thron wie die Sonne vor mir;
His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne shall be like the sun before me.
37 Ewiglich wird er feststehen wie der Mond; und der Zeuge in den Wolken ist treu. (Sela)
Like the moon shall it be firmly established for ever, and as this faithful witness in the sky.” (Selah)
38 Du aber hast verworfen und verstoßen, bist sehr zornig gewesen gegen deinen Gesalbten;
And yet thou hast east off and despised, thou hast become wroth with thy anointed.
39 Du hast verworfen den Bund deines Knechtes, hast zu Boden entweiht seine Krone;
Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned, down to the ground, his crown.
40 Du hast niedergerissen alle seine Mauern, hast seine Festen in Trümmer gelegt.
Thou hast broken down all his fences: thou hast brought his strong-holds to terror.
41 Es haben ihn beraubt alle, die des Weges vorübergehen; er ist zum Hohn geworden seinen Nachbarn.
All that pass by the way plunder him: he is become a reproach to his neighbors.
42 Du hast erhöht die Rechte seiner Bedränger, hast erfreut alle seine Feinde;
Thou hast raised up the right hand of his assailants: thou hast caused all his enemies to rejoice.
43 Auch hast du zurückgewandt die Schärfe seines Schwertes, und hast ihn nicht bestehen lassen im Kampfe;
Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not let him stand erect in the battle.
44 Du hast aufhören lassen seinen Glanz und zur Erde gestürzt seinen Thron;
Thou hast made his brilliancy cease; and his throne hast thou thrown down to the ground.
45 Du hast verkürzt die Tage seiner Jugend, mit Schmach hast du ihn bedeckt. (Sela)
Thou hast shortened the days of his youth: thou hast enshrouded him with shame. (Selah)
46 Bis wann, Jehova, willst du dich immerfort verbergen, soll wie Feuer brennen dein Grimm?
How long, Lord, wilt thou hide thyself, continually? how long shall thy fury burn like fire?
47 Gedenke, was meine Lebensdauer ist, zu welcher Nichtigkeit du alle Menschenkinder erschaffen hast!
Remember [what] I am, what my duration is [here], for what nothingness thou hast created all sons of men!
48 Welcher Mann lebt und wird den Tod nicht sehen, wird seine Seele befreien von der Gewalt des Scheols? (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
What man is there that can live, and shall not see death? that can deliver his soul from the power of the nether word? (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
49 Wo sind, o Herr, deine früheren Gütigkeiten, die du David zugeschworen hast in deiner Treue?
Where are thy former kindnesses, O Lord, which thou hast sworn unto David by thy truth?
50 Gedenke, Herr, des Hohnes deiner Knechte, daß ich in meinem Busen trage den Hohn all der vielen [And. l.: trage den Schimpf vieler usw.] Völker,
Remember, Lord, the disgrace of thy servants; that I bear in my bosom the [burden] of all the many nations;
51 Womit deine Feinde gehöhnt haben, Jehova, womit sie gehöhnt haben die Fußstapfen deines Gesalbten!
That thy enemies have defied, O Lord; that they have defied the footsteps of thy anointed.
52 Gepriesen sei Jehova ewiglich! Amen, ja, Amen!
Blessed be the Lord for evermore. Amen, and Amen.
