Psalm 85
1 [Dem Vorsänger. Von den Söhnen Korahs, ein Psalm.] Jehova, du hast Gunst erzeigt deinem Lande, hast die Gefangenschaft Jakobs gewendet;
“To the chief musician, by the sons of Korach, a psalm.” Thou hast been favorable, O Lord, unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
2 Du hast vergeben die Ungerechtigkeit deines Volkes, all ihre Sünde hast du zugedeckt. (Sela)
Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people: thou hast covered over all their sin. (Selah)
3 Du hast zurückgezogen all deinen Grimm, hast dich abgewendet von der Glut deines Zornes.
Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast relinquished the fierceness of thy anger.
4 Führe uns zurück, Gott unseres Heils, und mache deinem Unwillen gegen uns ein Ende!
Return to us, O God of our salvation, and cause thy ill-will toward us to cease.
5 Willst du ewiglich wider uns zürnen? Willst du deinen Zorn währen lassen von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht?
Wilt thou be wroth with us for ever? wilt thou extend thy anger from generation to generation?
6 Willst du uns nicht wieder beleben, daß dein Volk sich in dir erfreue?
Wilt thou not [now] revive us again, that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 Laß uns, Jehova, deine Güte sehen, und dein Heil gewähre uns!
Show us thy kindness, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.
8 Hören will ich, was Gott, [El] Jehova, reden wird; denn [O. ja] Frieden wird er reden zu seinem Volke und zu seinen Frommen, -nur daß sie nicht zur Torheit zurückkehren!
I will hear what God the Lord will speak; for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his pious ones: only let them not turn again to folly.
9 Fürwahr, nahe ist sein Heil denen, die ihn fürchten, damit die Herrlichkeit wohne in unserem Lande.
Surely, nigh is his salvation unto those that fear him: that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Güte und Wahrheit sind sich begegnet, Gerechtigkeit und Friede haben sich geküßt.
Kindness and truth are met together: righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Wahrheit wird sprossen aus der Erde, und Gerechtigkeit herniederschauen vom Himmel.
Truth will grow up out of the earth, and righteousness will look down from heaven.
12 Auch wird Jehova das Gute geben, und unser Land wird darreichen seinen Ertrag.
Yea, the Lord will also give the good, and our land will yield its products.
13 Die Gerechtigkeit wird vor ihm einhergehen und ihre Tritte zu seinem Wege machen. [O. seine Tritte zu ihrem Wege machen, d. h. ihm nachfolgen]
Righteousness will walk firmly before him, and will make [level] the way by its steps.
