Psalm 80
1 [Dem Vorsänger, nach Schoschannim-Eduth. Von Asaph, [O. nach Schoschannim [Lilien]. Ein Zeugnis von Asaph] ein Psalm.] Hirte Israels, nimm zu Ohren! der du Joseph leitest wie eine Herde, der du thronst zwischen [O. über; vergl. 1. Chr. 28,18; Hes. 10,1] den Cherubim, strahle hervor!
For the Chief Musician; set to Shoshannim Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, Thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; Thou that sittest [above] the cherubim, shine forth.
2 Vor Ephraim und Benjamin und Manasse erwecke deine Macht und komm zu unserer Rettung!
Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy might, And come to save us.
3 O Gott! führe uns zurück, und laß dein Angesicht leuchten, so werden wir gerettet werden.
Turn us again, O God; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
4 Jehova, Gott der Heerscharen! Bis wann raucht dein Zorn wider das [O. beim] Gebet deines Volkes?
O Jehovah God of hosts, How long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
5 Du hast sie mit Tränenbrot gespeist, und sie maßweise getränkt mit Zähren.
Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in large measure.
6 Du setztest uns zum Streit [d. h. zum Gegenstand des Streites, der Anfeindung] unseren Nachbarn, und unsere Feinde spotten untereinander.
Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbors; And our enemies laugh among themselves.
7 O Gott der Heerscharen! führe uns zurück, und laß dein Angesicht leuchten, so werden wir gerettet werden.
Turn us again, O God of hosts; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
8 Einen Weinstock zogest du [Eig. rissest du heraus] aus Ägypten, vertriebest Nationen und pflanztest ihn.
Thou broughtest a vine out of Egypt: Thou didst drive out the nations, and plantedst it.
9 Du machtest Raum vor ihm, und er schlug Wurzeln und erfüllte das Land;
Thou preparedst [room] before it, And it took deep root, and filled the land.
10 Die Berge wurden bedeckt von seinem Schatten, und seine Äste waren gleich Cedern Gottes; [And. üb.: und von seinen Ästen Cedern Gottes [d. h. mächtige Cedern]]
The mountains were covered with the shadow of it, And the boughs thereof were [like] cedars of God.
11 Er streckte seine Reben aus bis ans Meer, und bis zum Strome hin seine Schößlinge.
It sent out its branches unto the sea, And its shoots unto the River.
12 Warum hast du seine Mauern niedergerissen, so daß ihn berupfen alle, die des Weges vorübergehen?
Why hast thou broken down its walls, So that all they that pass by the way do pluck it?
13 Es zerwühlt ihn der Eber aus dem Walde, und das Wild des Gefildes weidet ihn ab.
The boar out of the wood doth ravage it, And the wild beasts of the field feed on it.
14 Gott der Heerscharen! kehre doch wieder; schaue vom Himmel und sieh, und suche heim diesen Weinstock, [O. nimm dich dieses Weinstocks an usw.]
Turn again, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: Look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine,
15 Und den Setzling, den [And. üb.: und beschütze was usw.] deine Rechte gepflanzt, und das Reis, das du dir gestärkt hattest!
And the stock which thy right hand planted, And the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.
16 Er ist mit Feuer verbrannt, er ist abgeschnitten; vor dem Schelten deines Angesichts kommen [O. kamen] sie um.
It is burned with fire, it is cut down: They perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
17 Deine Hand sei auf dem Manne deiner Rechten, auf dem Menschensohne, den du dir gestärkt hast!
Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, Upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.
18 So werden wir nicht von dir abweichen; belebe uns, und wir werden deinen Namen anrufen.
So shall we not go back from thee: Quicken thou us, and we will call upon thy name.
19 Jehova, Gott der Heerscharen! führe uns zurück; laß dein Angesicht leuchten, so werden wir gerettet werden.
Turn us again, O Jehovah God of hosts; Cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
