Psalm 63

1 [Ein Psalm von David, als er in der Wüste Juda war.] Gott, du bist mein Gott! [El] frühe suche ich dich. Es dürstet nach dir meine Seele, nach dir schmachtet mein Fleisch in einem dürren und lechzenden Lande ohne Wasser,

A Psalm of David; when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee. My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh languisheth for thee, in a dry and weary land without water:

2 gleichwie ich dich angeschaut habe im Heiligtum-um deine Macht und deine Herrlichkeit zu sehen.

To see thy power and thy glory, as I have beheld thee in the sanctuary;

3 Denn deine Güte ist besser als Leben; meine Lippen werden dich rühmen.

For thy loving-kindness is better than life: my lips shall praise thee.

4 Also werde ich dich preisen während meines Lebens, meine Hände aufheben in deinem Namen.

So will I bless thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in thy name.

5 Wie von Mark und Fett wird gesättigt werden meine Seele, und mit jubelnden Lippen wird loben mein Mund,

My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise [thee] with joyful lips.

6 Wenn ich deiner gedenke auf meinem Lager, über dich sinne [O. sinne ich über dich] in den Nachtwachen.

When I remember thee upon my bed, I meditate on thee in the night-watches:

7 Denn du bist mir zur Hülfe gewesen, und ich werde jubeln in dem Schatten deiner Flügel.

For thou hast been my help, and in the shadow of thy wings will I sing for joy.

8 Meine Seele hängt dir nach, [d. h. folgt dir unmittelbar nach] es hält mich aufrecht deine Rechte.

My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

9 Jene aber, die nach meinem Leben trachten, um es zu verderben, werden hineingehen in die untersten Örter der Erde.

But those that seek my soul, to destroy [it], shall go into the lower parts of the earth;

10 Man wird sie preisgeben der Gewalt des Schwertes, das Teil der Schakale werden sie sein.

They shall be given over to the power of the sword; they shall be the portion of foxes.

11 Und der König wird sich freuen in Gott; es wird sich rühmen ein jeder, der bei ihm schwört; denn der Mund der Lügenredner wird verstopft werden.

But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: for the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
