Psalm 60
1 [Dem Vorsänger; nach Schuschan-Eduth. Ein Gedicht von David, zum Lehren, ] [als er stritt mit den Syrern von Mesopotamien und mit den Syrern von Zoba, und Joab zurückkehrte und die Edomiter im Salztale schlug, zwölftausend Mann.] Gott, du hast uns verworfen, hast uns zerstreut, bist zornig gewesen; führe uns wieder zurück!
For the Chief Musician; set to Shushan Eduth: Michtam of David, to teach: when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the Valley of Salt twelve thousand. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast broken us down; thou hast been angry; O restore us again.
2 Du hast das Land [O. die Erde] erschüttert, hast es zerrissen; heile seine Risse, denn es wankt!
Thou hast made the land to tremble; thou hast rent it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
3 Du hast dein Volk Hartes sehen lassen, mit Taumelwein hast du uns getränkt.
Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of staggering.
4 Denen, die dich fürchten, hast du ein Panier gegeben, daß es sich erhebe um der Wahrheit willen. (Sela)
Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. (Selah)
5 Damit befreit werden deine Geliebten, rette durch deine Rechte und erhöre uns! [Nach and. Lesart: mich; vergl. Ps. 108,6-13]
That thy beloved may be delivered, save with thy right hand, and answer us.
6 Gott hat geredet in seiner Heiligkeit: Frohlocken will ich, will Sichem verteilen und das Tal Sukkoth ausmessen.
God hath spoken in his holiness; I will exult: I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
7 Mein ist Gilead, und mein Manasse, und Ephraim ist die Wehr meines Hauptes, Juda mein Herrscherstab. [And. üb.: mein Gesetzgeber]
Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the defence of mine head; Judah is my sceptre.
8 Moab ist mein Waschbecken, auf Edom will ich meine Sandale werfen; Philistäa, jauchze mir zu!
Moab is my washpot; upon Edom will I cast my shoe: Philistia, shout thou because of me.
9 Wer wird mich führen in die feste Stadt, wer wird mich leiten bis nach Edom?
Who will bring me into the strong city? who hath led me unto Edom?
10 Nicht du, Gott, der du uns verworfen hast, und nicht auszogest, o Gott, mit unseren Heeren?
Hast not thou, O God, cast us off? and thou goest not forth, O God, with our hosts.
11 Schaffe uns Hülfe aus der Bedrängnis! [O. vom Bedränger] Menschenrettung ist ja eitel.
Give us help against the adversary: for vain is the help of man.
12 Mit Gott werden wir mächtige Taten [Eig. Mächtiges] tun; und er, er wird unsere Bedränger zertreten.
Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our adversaries.
