Psalm 47

1 [Dem Vorsänger. Von den Söhnen Korahs, ein Psalm.] Ihr Völker alle, klatschet in die Hände! Jauchzet Gott mit Jubelschall!

“For the leader of the music. A psalm of the sons of Korah.” O clap your hands, all ye nations! Shout unto God with the voice of triumph!

2 Denn Jehova, der Höchste, ist furchtbar, ein großer König über die ganze Erde.

For terrible is Jehovah, the Most High, The great king over all the earth.

3 Er unterwarf uns die Völker, und die Völkerschaften unter unsere Füße.

He hath subdued nations under us, And kingdoms under our feet;

4 Er erwählte für uns unser Erbteil, den Stolz Jakobs, den er geliebt hat. (Sela)

He hath chosen for us an inheritance, The glory of Jacob, whom he loved. (Pause)

5 Gott ist emporgestiegen unter Jauchzen, Jehova unter Posaunenschall.

God goeth up with a shout; Jehovah with the sound of the trumpet.

6 Singet Gott Psalmen, [Eig. Singspielet] singet Psalmen; singet Psalmen unserem König, singet Psalmen!

Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our king, sing praises!

7 Denn Gott ist König der ganzen Erde; singet Psalmen mit Einsicht! [Eig. Singet Maskil. S. die Anm. zu Ps. 32, Überschrift]

For God is king of all the earth; Sing to him hymns of praise!

8 Gott regiert über die Nationen; Gott hat sich auf den Thron seiner Heiligkeit gesetzt.

God reigneth over the nations; God sitteth upon his holy throne.

9 Die Edlen der Völker haben sich versammelt und das Volk [O. als ein Volk] des Gottes Abrahams; denn die Schilde [d. h. die Fürsten, die Schirmherren] der Erde sind Gottes; er ist sehr erhaben.

The princes of the nations gather themselves together To the people of the God of Abraham; For the mighty of the earth belong to God; He is supremely exalted.
