Psalm 33
1 Jubelt, ihr Gerechten, in Jehova! den Aufrichtigen geziemt Lobgesang.
Sing, ye righteous, in Jehovah, For upright ones praise [is] comely.
2 Preiset Jehova mit der Laute; [Nicht unsere heutige Laute, sondern eine Art Leier] singet ihm Psalmen mit der Harfe von zehn Saiten!
Give ye thanks to Jehovah with a harp, With psaltery of ten strings sing praise to Him,
3 Singet ihm ein neues Lied; spielet wohl mit Jubelschall!
Sing ye to Him a new song, Play skilfully with shouting.
4 Denn gerade ist das Wort Jehovas, und all sein Werk in Wahrheit. [O. Treue]
For upright [is] the word of Jehovah, And all His work [is] in faithfulness.
5 Er liebt Gerechtigkeit und Recht; die Erde ist voll der Güte Jehovas.
Loving righteousness and judgment, Of the kindness of Jehovah is the earth full.
6 Durch Jehovas Wort sind die Himmel gemacht, und all ihr Heer durch den Hauch seines Mundes.
By the word of Jehovah The heavens have been made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host.
7 Er sammelt die Wasser des Meeres wie einen Haufen, legt in Behälter die Fluten. [O. Tiefen; eig. eine tiefe, rauschende Wassermenge]
Gathering as a heap the waters of the sea, Putting in treasuries the depths.
8 Es fürchte sich vor Jehova die ganze Erde; mögen sich vor ihm scheuen alle Bewohner des Erdkreises!
Afraid of Jehovah are all the earth, Of Him are all the inhabitants of the world afraid.
9 Denn er sprach, und es war; er gebot, und es stand da.
For He hath said, and it is, He hath commanded, and it standeth.
10 Jehova macht zunichte den Ratschluß der Nationen, er vereitelt die Gedanken der Völker.
Jehovah made void the counsel of nations, He disallowed the thoughts of the peoples.
11 Der Ratschluß Jehovas besteht ewiglich, die Gedanken seines Herzens von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht.
The counsel of Jehovah to the age standeth, The thoughts of His heart to all generations.
12 Glückselig die Nation, deren Gott Jehova ist, das Volk, das er sich erkoren zum Erbteil!
O the happiness of the nation whose God [is] Jehovah, Of the people He did choose, For an inheritance to Him.
13 Jehova blickt von den Himmeln herab, er sieht alle Menschenkinder.
From the heavens hath Jehovah looked, He hath seen all the sons of men.
14 Von der Stätte seiner Wohnung schaut er auf alle Bewohner der Erde;
From the fixed place of His dwelling, He looked unto all inhabitants of the earth;
15 Er, der da bildet ihr Herz allesamt, der da merkt auf alle ihre Werke.
Who is forming their hearts together, Who is attending unto all their works.
16 Ein König wird nicht gerettet durch die Größe seines Heeres; ein Held wird nicht befreit durch die Größe der Kraft.
The king is not saved by the multitude of a force. A mighty man is not delivered, By abundance of power.
17 Ein Trug ist das Roß zur Rettung, und durch die Größe seiner Stärke läßt es nicht entrinnen.
A false thing [is] the horse for safety, And by the abundance of his strength He doth not deliver.
18 Siehe, das Auge Jehovas ist gerichtet auf die, so ihn fürchten, auf die, welche auf seine Güte harren,
Lo, the eye of Jehovah [is] to those fearing Him, To those waiting for His kindness,
19 um ihre Seele vom Tode zu erretten und sie am Leben zu erhalten in Hungersnot.
To deliver from death their soul, And to keep them alive in famine.
20 Unsere Seele wartet auf Jehova; unsere Hülfe und unser Schild ist er.
Our soul hath waited for Jehovah, Our help and our shield [is] He,
21 Denn in ihm wird unser Herz sich freuen, weil wir seinem heiligen Namen vertraut haben.
For in Him doth our heart rejoice, For in His holy name we have trusted.
22 Deine Güte, Jehova, sei über uns, gleichwie wir auf dich geharrt haben.
Let Thy kindness, O Jehovah, be upon us, As we have waited for Thee!
