Psalm 3
1 [Ein Psalm von David, als er vor seinem Sohne Absalom floh.] Jehova! wie viele sind meiner Bedränger! Viele erheben sich wider mich;
A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. Jehovah, how many are they that trouble me, many they that rise up against me!
2 Viele sagen von meiner Seele: Es ist keine Rettung für ihn bei [W. in] Gott! (Sela) [Bedeutet wahrsch.: (Zwischenspiel) od. Verstärkung der begleitenden Musik]
Many say of my soul, There is no salvation for him in God. (Selah)
3 Du aber, Jehova, bist ein Schild um mich her, meine Herrlichkeit, [O. Ehre] und der mein Haupt emporhebt.
But thou, Jehovah, art a shield about me; my glory, and the lifter up of my head.
4 Mit meiner Stimme rufe ich zu Jehova, und er antwortet mir von seinem heiligen Berge. (Sela)
With my voice will I call to Jehovah, and he will answer me from the hill of his holiness. (Selah)
5 Ich legte mich nieder und schlief; ich erwachte, denn Jehova stützt mich.
I laid me down and slept; I awaked, for Jehovah sustaineth me.
6 Nicht fürchte ich mich vor Zehntausenden des Volkes, die sich ringsum wider mich gesetzt haben.
I will not fear for myriads of the people that have set themselves against me round about.
7 Stehe auf, Jehova! rette mich, mein Gott! denn du hast alle meine Feinde auf den Backen geschlagen; die Zähne der Gesetzlosen hast du zerschmettert.
Arise, Jehovah; save me, my God! For thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheekbone, thou hast broken the teeth of the wicked.
8 Von Jehova ist die Rettung; dein Segen ist auf deinem Volke. [O. komme auf dein Volk] (Sela)
Salvation is of Jehovah; thy blessing is upon thy people. (Selah)
